I realise this is an old video but did you ever find a solution a portable monitor I have does the same thing. Only touch over usb c and no display.

It started working sporadically for me. I’m not sure what the issue with it is - sorry I could not be more helpful

I have the model M1161CT and the type C was working fine with no extra power etc... just plug a USB C to my phone and everything was working fine then one day I used HDMI on my laptop with the 14" portable monitor and later when I went back to use it with my phone as it always work and now it says no signal lol 😅 I guess if you want these portable monitors to work good on Type C forever is to NEVER use it on HDMI or else it will get stuck on HDMI

i also have the same problem. I need to connect my portable monitor to the usb c port for power and hdmi for image. Idk why my usb c port is 3.1 the one that i need but its still not working

you SHOULD use a separate type c POWER adaptor to provide extra power to the monitor. this will help you solve your problem about black screen. or replace the type c cable with another type c cable for display.

Is it because it's being connected to a Mac? If you connected to a non Mac does it do the same thing ?

Yep.. connected to a Thinkpad and it didn’t work

    Likely a bad USB cable.

Nope it's a internal problem. If you use type C alone with the monitor and never use HDMI on it you will be fine but if you EVER use HDMI on it will stop working with Type C

When you buy these monitors never connect the HDMI or else it will never work with type C again

This is cheap junk made in China - what did you expect? I have the same display, it was advertised with a stand, it arrived with no stand. The USB-c cable that came with the display made the image flicker, so then I reverted to Apple USB-C cable, that helped for a short while, then it reverted back to an unstable, flickering image, now I have gone with the HDMI cable and a USB-c cable for power, this is the longest it has been stable, but that too is not perfect, the image sometimes, unexpectedly goes black losing the image altogether. I did think it might have been the Mac Mini Thunderbolt 4 port but then even attaching directly with the HDMI made no real improvement. The problem lies with the display itself. Home grown Chinese products are just cheap, crummy, poorly made junkets. There is a RUclips video for the same display that was posted by a Chinese person (a Bluce Ree rook-a-rike) who is completely arrogant and out of touch with reality, he obviously thinks people are stupid, what he does is move one cable into another port and this is meant to fix the issue- it doesnt.
