You are a genius! I spent hours and hours searching for a solution for "portabilize" my SFF PC with a portable monitor with a single cable for that portable monitor. This is brilliant, thanks so much
You're welcome 😊
Hi, could you tell me which portable monior do you have and how did you do that?
Just wanna say: thanks a lot man!
I had the exact same problem, but for connecting Samsung M8 monitor, and the Wacom Link Plus worked perfectly for solving this issue!
Glad the video was helpful for you😁
Hey there, just purchased an M8 and have this issue. Question: does your webcam work with this setup?
Thanks! I couldn't find any information on a "bidirectional" cable before, but that's exactly what I needed
Gives the perfect answer to my problem! Thanks
Long TIme Shivam !
video was just like always , amazing
love ur presentation bruh
wish u success
Thanks man😁
lovely video. i want to know whether CPU having HDMI port can be connected to monitor having c type display port. as i am planning to my slim monitors which are easy to carry around and most of these have only C type display port.
The information provided is very helpful and its very crisp and clear
Hey man!
Thanks for this! Information was quite useful. I have a question and I’d appreciate your help. I bought a bidirectional display port to usb and it works fine on my benq monitor but not with the LG 4k ultra fine. I know it’s not the cable or the pc because they both worked with another monitor. Any advice would be highly appreciated! :)
Thanks!
THANK YOU ! this information is very helpful !! from korea !
Thanks for this. We've been trying to figure out how to use a newer portable USB-C monitor with an older Lenovo Yoga S1 with USB-A 3.0 only. Unfortunately that Wacom device seems to not be available, but at least we know we can't just use a USB-A to USB-C adapter.
Club3d CAC-1331 is cheaper alternative, if you don't need touch functionality. (It only uses the additional USB for power )
Anther option is a Asus XG16 or a PA148CTV. They do have HDMI and their image quality is better than mots portable-s.
Hi thanks for this great video , there is no much content on this so hats off , I have question I have a gaming laptop and same LED lg 5k monitor .My laptop has hdmi , mini display port so my question is is bidirectional ucb type c to mini display port will work ??
My new dell latitude 5420 can run this via usb-c at 5k native resolution. Love having the ability to use this wonderful monitor at full resolution with both mac AND windows.
Wish all laptops have that capabilities.
Thank you for the helpful video. I have a macbook pro 2017 with four thunderbolt 3 ports, and I purchased a Dell USB-C monitor which has a USB-C port (alt mode display) and has two HDMI ports (Dell 34 Curved USB-C Monitor - S3423DWC). I have purchased several USB-C to USB-C cables with one end inserted into my monitor and the other to my laptop. They charge my laptop but they are unable to display video on my monitor from my macbook. For this reason, I am having to use a separate HDMI cable to display on my monitor. I purchased this monitor so that I could use one USB-C cable to both charge and display video onto my monitor, but I am wondering if there is some sort of compatibility issue as my macbook has thunderbolt 3 and the monitor has USB-C, or if there is something wrong with the monitor USB-C port which is advertised as an alternative mode display port as well as charging upto 65W. Can you please advise?
This is extremely helpful!!!!
I was having the same trouble with my mobile monitor(LG gram +view), thank you man.
I just ordered Wacom Link Plus and DP to mini DP cable.
I'll tell if it works once they arrived.
P.S.
It went well. Thank God. I'm so satisfied now.
My case: LG gram +view(16MQ70) mobile monitor
What I used: Wacom Link Plus, DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable
No driver installation was needed.
bro I have the same monitor (LG gram +view) but my laptop does not have displayport. Do you think it will work if I connect the wacom link plus to my HDMI laptop with a cable? HDMI to HDMI cable from the wacom link plus?
Question. Do both the PC and the monitor need the sign (D) for the usb display port. I have it on the monitor but my alienware just has the USB C. Thanks.
Hi there! I love your video. Quick question, will it work with PC > HDMI > Link Plus > Monitor? Thank you
Hi nice video I am trying to connect 2 touch screen usbc monitors to a desktop pc would the wacom link plus work ?? Thanks in advance
Great information. I am looking to buy a 27" Qhd monitor with usb c port under 30k? Can you please suggest me one? Thanks
Can u give link type c to displayport cable that support displayport? My type c port not support thunderbolt
Hello, if I plug a Amazon Firestick into the Wacom Link Plus, would it work on the monitor?
I have the correct sign on the Dell Inspiron I just purchased but it is not recognizing the USB C cable from the LG 5K Monitor. My Dell laptop has a HDMI outlet but NOT a mini display outlet. Will the Wacom Link Plus work with HDMI? Also, the Wacom Link Plus is not available in the US? Any suggestions?
is there anything like the wacom link plus that will transmit data at usb 3 speeds through it?
Question, I have three Uperfect 4K Portable Monitors that I want to connect to my EVGA 3070 ti graphics card. When I connect it using a usbc to DisplayPort cable, I get no signal but when I connect the monitor through hdmi mini to hdmi on the card, I get signal. Can you help me?

Hi, I owned DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced with DJI Smart Controller that have HDMI port on it. Can I connect directly my RC to tablet using HDMI-type C cable only to use my tablet as additional screen? Thanks
Thanks for this video! Were you able to get sound to work with the Wacom Link?
Yes monitor speakers working through Wacom link
@@TheInventar Thanks, mine just arrived and confirming the sound works after installing the Wacom drivers! Have you figured out how to make HDMI input work? Mini DisplayPort works just fine, but I had no luck connecting devices via HDMI port.
Hey so I have a old USB Type C on my laptop , is it possible to get a portable USB Type C Hub and after connecting the hub to the Type C on the laptop I can also connect an additional adapter from USB Type C to HDMI so I can connect my monitor , do you think this will work ?
hi i have an monitor with an usb-c 3.2 gen 2 for video input is the wacom link compatibel?
Hi, I have the same LG usb C 4K monitor that you have and a HP laptop with HDMI, so the most cost efficient way is to get a bi directional hdmi to type C cable?
Unfortunately there isn’t a bi directional hdmi to usb-c I did try with a DP to Usb-c cable but it didn’t work, the monitor is thunderbolt 3 connection both TB3 and USB-C are DIFFERENT CABLES.
Question:I have nuc9i7qnx with wx4100,and I want to run the ultrafine5k through the mini displayport at 5k@60hz.But I can't make the display work in Windows at 5K.I thought about using the Thunder card. For using the new thunderbolt 3 card with JHL7540 which adapt displayport 1.4, Throughing the MiniDP In,it's likely be work in Windows at 5k.Unfortunately, there is no TB_Header on the nuc9.🤣
Can the USB-C hub support a 2K monitor at 60Hz with the Display Port? I'm limited to 1920x1080 @60HZ with the HDMI
Damn 🔥 a lot have improved in the way you make video, 📹 presentation 🌟 and background, 🖼️ all just Soo good Rn (in your future videos you can try having colorful light / s behind you, putting that beam of light on those grey / white walls)
Thanks man. I'll try that out.❤

Thanks for the video. I'm having a Lenova M14t USB c monitor. I would like to connect this Lenova monitor to my existing Desktop that has only HDMI port.
I have two USB c ports in my USB c monitor. I can charge with one.
My doubt is,
Which one is better?
Either Wacom Link plus or Bidirectional cable?
Same Scenario , I used Wacom link plus and its works fine ..
Hi, I’m planning to buy a USB-C monitor and would like to connect to either of the MacBook Pro (leisure) and Windows laptop (work), one at a time.
For MAC, it should be easy by using just 1 both usb-c end male cable since the monitor USB-C upstream port supports alternate mode with display port & power delivery.
For windows laptop, any recommendations to connect it to monitor- preferably using the same usb-c cable with adapter but not sure if it works?
If you want to use the same cable then use wacom link plus. If you can switch cables from the back of the monitor then you can buy a bi-drrctional usb c to display port dongle.
@@TheInventar Hi,
After viewing this I purchased a bi-directional cable as the one in the video. I plugged the display port part into the back of my GPU and the USB-C into the monitor (it is a LENOVO THINKVISION M14. And there is no reception of the monitor. It does not turn on. So I purchased a USB C female to USB A male adaptor, and I used the original USB C to USB C cable with Adaptor to connect to a USB A slot. My monitor now turns on but it is not detected by the pc. Please help
Greetings, thank you so much for this information. I am trying to connect these monitors (two) to my PC, but I only have display ports. The solutions did not work. Is it possible to have a brief call (happy to pay for your time)?

Do you know, would this work with a ps5 to LG5k?
Can I connect external e-gpu with usb-c display port on laptop to full size display port on Graphics card on Dell G-15 5520 i7 12700H rtx3050ti varient.
Sir I have asus vivobook pro 15 oled and it has hdmi 1.4, usb type c 3.2 gen 1. I need to connect to a 2k monitor 144 hz and want to have 10 bit display output. The monitor has hdmi 2.0 and displayport 1.4. What connection should I use?
So I purchased the bi-directional cable and the LG monitor was not recognized by my PC. Any thoughts?
Thanks,

Hi can you please send me the link to the drivers you installed? When I connect all the items like you did nothing happens. I installed the Wacom Center and it just says "Connect a device". I have restarted and reinstalled a few times. When i do plug eveything on windows 11 i get a popup saying zThunderbold device functionality maybe limited.
Is there a dongle that can combined USB C power and Display? I want to run display through a DP to USB C cable (my motherboard doesn't support video through usb). One problem though, the monitor that I got only has one port in total. Is there any splitters that can combine power and display into one USB C port?
Hey DJ! Did you ever find a solution to this? I am running into this issue now
@@Sheepdog34 I have not and I have given up on finding the solution.

I have MSI GF63 9SCXR laptop which has one USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 Superspeed data port and it is not a Display port. How can I use this port to extend multiple monitors?
Great video, but alas, after a couple of weeks of seemingly working fine (more or less, I've had to unplug/replug at times), somehow my monitor is now recognised at 1080p only. No idea how that happened, but haven't any solution to switch back.
Anyone know if this would work for a Msi gf65 thin?
what drivers do you download and where can i find them??
were you able to find them?
IF so, can you please send link
@@adilsheikh7870 no i wasnt. what ive been using is a dongle and using all three cables to make it use as a 2nd moniter.
Hey, brother. I'm getting a monitor with USB C and a video card with USB C. Is it true I can connect the monitor with just one USB C cable and that will both power it AND pass the video signal?
It would seem that its necessary to have a macbook in order to wake this monitor up, then attaching a PC via displayport or through the wacom works. If the monitors loose power then the PC will not be able to wake them up. They will remain dark until a mac is attached again.
Would the Wacom link plus work if i just connect an hdmi cable to it from my ps5 to display video on my lg Ultrafine?
I don't think so because when I plugged in my pc through HDMI it didn't work.
Ok, no problem. Thanks for the info and quick response!
what drivers?
Awesome ..my pc has only usb 2. And 3. .no usb c..can it power usb c monitor and carry data at the same time? Without having power cord plugged in .
No. You need to plug the power into your monitor.
my laptop has HDMI, Mini DisplayPort and Data only USB-C. I am trying to connect it to a portable monitor that has USB-C only. I tried using an HDMI to USB-C Adapter however this doesnt work. Additionally how do i get power to this monitor as well if its only a USB-C port that is meant to carry video and power?
Damn I bought bidirectional cable & plugged to displayport. Got portable Asus MB16ACE with displayport logo near usbc port. Connected and it didnt work. Computer doesn't see the device. Plugged phone and it sees both power & data transfer from pc. Im hopeless, please help how to connect these two. Any drivers? (GPU is nvidia RTX3080Ti)
Can 2k 240hz cable run 360hz full hd?
also for the LG ultrafin 4k ?
I think so. It should work.
Thanks for the video. Can I get the link to buy the wacom in India?
I would also like to are there any other alternatives for Wacom link plus ? Like some other bidirectional data transfer devices? Which can be used to convert my traditional usb and HDMI port combined to form a thunderbolt 3 ctype port? If yes, please let me know I want a method to convert my laptop's usb and hdmi port to thunderbolt 3 c type to use dock station for it. As dock station has input thunderbolt 3 only. Please help me with this.
You can buy it from here. But now they are selling it for a very high price. You can either wait for the price to come down or get it from USA. amzn.to/31nIAaw
I want to use the HDMI port on my laptop to connect to my extended monitor which has a USB-c port. Should I buy a USB-C to 4K HDMI Cable? Thank you!
I'm not sure but according to me that won't work.
Hi Shivam, I just bought a Lenovo thinkvision M14 portable monitor with usb c, but its not working on my laptop (msi gl65). What should be my best approach ??
bi-directional Display port to usb c cable or Wacom link plus would work.
@@TheInventar thanks for the jnfo, but my laptop has no displayport, it only has usb c without alt and thunderbolt port. I am confused now 😅
Me too
I think you might be able to help me😮 I got a dell monitor it has a display port and I have a Dell laptop which can charge by usbc (the charger is usbc 65w) the thing is when I connected them via a display port to mini displayport type usbc, it worked perfectly, but my laptop didn't charge the thing is I saw other people doing the same with apple laptops and it worked, what do you think it might be happening and do you think there's a way I can use only one cable( I was thinking maybe a charging hub may help to transform the voltage ? Idk) if you are able to help me I would appreciated soooo much, if not, thanks for the read, it was a really good video 😊
I wacom link plus might help. bit.ly/3f1skzr
Because you can setup it like I showed in the video. And it also has a charging input on the device. So that should charge your laptop. But try that at your own risk🫣
@The Inventar thank you uuu soo much ❤️😊
I connected acer monitor through hdmi type c cable from mob, it didn't work can u explain why.?
Hi. I have a Thinkpad T450s laptop with mini-displayport port and an LG 24-inch Ultrafine 4K. I plugged the Wacom link adapter (after installing the Wacom Win 10 driver package) mini-displayport port into the laptop min-displayport port using the min-displayport cable that came with the Wacom link adapter, and the USB-C port (I guess it's really a Thunderbolt port, but in any event one of the two ports with the ring drawn around it) on the back of the monitor to the USB-C port on the Wacom link adapter. Unfortunately, the laptop display goes black and nothing is displayed on the Ultrafine. I tried again, adding a connection from one of the the laptop's USB-A ports to the mini (micro?)-USB port on the Wacon link adapter using the USB-A to mini/micro-USB cable supplied with the Wacom link adapter. I can hear sound from the Ultrafine, but it and the laptop display remain black. Any ideas?
Make sure you are using the USB c cable that came with the monitor not the thunderbolt cable
@@TheInventar Thanks, but I was.
Did you get the monitor to work with your laptop?
@@hectorsierra6463 No. I tried a bunch of Thinkpads - T480, T490, x1 Gen 6, maybe more- and the only Thinkpad that worked with the LG monitor was the T495 with AMD inside. So weird.
I found a adapter that may work. DeLOCK 63928 is designed for USB C monitor to a computer with DisplayPort interface. Just bought it. I’ll try when it arrives.
I have a question: I own a M1 Macbook air, and a monitor with USB-C support. Can I mirror the display of the MacBook on the monitor with just a USB-C cable? or does it have to be a thunderbolt 3 cable?
It works perfectly fine with USB-C. I've tested it on my macbook m1 air and Samasung S21.
@@TheInventar Does not work for me. Just to make sure, can you let me know if Gigabyte M27Q supports screen mirroring via USB-C?
I've read in many threads that you need a Thunderbolt 3 cable and can't use any USB-C cable, like for example the charging cable that comes with your macbook.
Like you first I tried with the charging cable and it didn't work. Then I used the USB C which comes with my monitor (thunderbolt 3 cable also came withr the monitor). And it worked. That means the charging cable does not carry video signal. You need to use other usb c cable.
@@TheInventar Yeah that's exactly what I thought. Thank you for your help!
Anytime bro🤝🏻
TL;DR: Don't buy a USB-C monitor yet.... We are in 2021 and we still need 3 types of cables for every monitor (Power+DP/HDMI+data USB) !

3080ti has 1x HDMI 2.1, 3x DisplayPort 1.4a
First, I tried Type-C to DisplayPort Cable from Startech, and it didn't work.
Then, I tried Wacom Link Plus, but no whatsoever driver available.
I tried searching "Wacom Link Plus" & "INF-A143 Wacom Link adapter". But nothing appears.
So I just downloaded Wacom Center and tried searching for the device, and it doesn't even read Wacom Link Plus as device.
I just spent about $180 just to connect this and its not even working...
I would really appreciate some help, thx.
Even without the drivers it work.
Your connection must look like this:
display port from gpu to mini display port to wacom> connect usb c cable on the wacom display side (not on the charging side, it has 2 usb c ports)>to your monitor.
@@TheInventar It turns out my motherboard doesn't support usb-c or something. It's been a while so I can't remember. Point is, no matter what solution it doesn't work unless I change the motherboard to something that support it.
If anyone is trying this, first check if your motherboard support it.

Hey Shivam! 🙃
Im trying to connect my laptop to my desktop to the LG Ultrafine 5k monitor via the Wacom but I'm experiencing some issues.
The connection flow was : PC: Dp to mDp, The USB that was included => Wacom link plus: Connected the mDp and the USB to it, then I used the included USB C to USB C cable to connect to the monitor. At first it worked, but the screen resolution was 640x480 and i could not change it. Then I tried installing the drivers, and it did show the screen with the correct resolution but after a few seconds the screen flickers and went black, and i could not do anything to fix it. When i connected an additional monitor to the PC, the display settings showed that the monitor was connected to the PC and the resolution was correct but i couldn't see anything on the screen. I tried changing the USB C cable, and i tried changing the Dp to mDp and uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but with no luck. do you have any ideas on what could cause this issue?
That's strange. It could be problem with the wacom link plus. If you bought it from amazon. Try to replace.
@@TheInventar Thank you for the quick response!!
I've narrowed it down to 3 possible options , 1 is my graphics card, 2 is the Dp to mDp cable, and 3 is the Wacom link plus.
I've checked the drivers and they are up to date both the Wacom one and the graphics card one.
BTW just in case, the power input that the Wacom link plus has is not required for the connection right?
You have to figure out the reason and Yes, the power cable is not required
