      With the latest Clone Wars episodes, I honestly think Maul is asking Obi-Wan if Anakin is the chosen one. Maul learned that Sidious was trying to seduce Anakin because Anakin was the Chosen One, and Maul started the siege of Mandalore to kill Anakin. When Maul asks Obi-Wan “is he the chosen one?” He has no idea about Luke. He’s gotta be asking Obi-Wan if Anakin is still the chosen one, even as Darth Vader. But I could be wrong 🤷🏼‍♂️

      @@thefanwithoutaface8105 Hit the nail on the head. Maul's isolation and anger, as well as his bloodlust made him the model sith. But he was hampered by his temperment. He was wild and unfocused. What fueled Anakin was a hatred of all things, including himself. The tragedy of Anakin Skywalker was that Sidious had taken everything he was. His close friend (Obi-wan), his family (Padme), even his honor (killing younglings). Darth Vader was all that was left. The shell of a man who was once a great jedi.
      Cold and unfeeling, he was fueled by his self-hatred, his failure to save the one he loved most. He was able to channel his power due to immense emotional turmoil. Maul meanwhile was like a wild beast. He wanted to lash out at those that wronged him, but lacked focus. In a sense, he was angry at everything but never had the self reflection that Anakin did to fuel his hatred. A quick fuse you could say.

      Yes, great Star Wars characters like Mermeia, Jar Jar Binks, and Lumpy. I hear there's a re-edit George is woking on in his garage where Walt himself hand draws the laser fire from Greedo's blaster over the original cantina scene, proving definitively that Disney alone ruined Star Wars....
      Listen, I'm not the biggest fan of Disney, but let's get real here. People have been ruining Star Wars since 1978--some of those people are George Lucas himself. Some of it is just sand. It gets everywhere. George Lucus killed Maul over 20 years ago, not Disney. He might have reconsidered in the last decade, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen that way on the big screen the first time around.

    He was a wasted character in Episode 1 that Dave Filoni rescued in Clone Wars by building upon his unstable childhood training to become Sidious' assassin. His power and abilities are rooted in his hatred of Sidious and the Sith as well as Obi-Wan and the Jedi, and that's what keeps him going even if it's not right. His death by Obi-Wan in Rebels was beautiful with all the elegance of a real samurai duel, but also the fact that Maul knew he was flawed and corrupted yet still went after Obi-Wan because he knew there was no chance to fix him. Filoni pulled out all the stops with his writing and made him amazing Anti-Hero at the end of the day.

    • @martinab676
      @martinab676 4 года назад +1

      And that's why I love him so much. Sometimes you can actually feel his need for companionship, he expresses it through the patterns he learned from Sidious (Master/Apprentice, Lord/Servant) because he has no idea how a healthy human relationship works, but you can perceive it anyway. Filoni turned him into such a compelling tragic figure, in the same way he brought some needed depth to Anakin's character. Maul is the kind of person I'd desperately want to fix, even knowing no one would ever succeed.

    I know its weird to imagine, but Maul would have been more powerful as a Jedi Knight. Palpatine never cared for the rule of two, he didn't want to raise an apprentice, he didn't even care for Anakin, the one conceived by the force itself. I think Obi Wan would have been stronger too, imagine the friendly rivalry he would have had with Maul?

    • @Ro17productions
      @Ro17productions 4 года назад +8

      I'd disagree. For one, Dathomir is a planet strong with the Dark Side, which gives Maul an edge. The use of Mauls anger and hatred is what made him so strong, and his deceptive personality only adds more to that. It's true Palpatine would not be followed up by Maul, but he did care for the rule of 2. Anakin's conception was Palpatines doing by influencing the midichlorians. Anakin was supposed to become twice as strong as Palpatine and his successor, but then he lost to Obi-Wan. This gave Palpatine the time he needed to find a way to keep living like we see in Ep 9. If Vader was at full power he would've overthrown Palpatine way before that, thus following the rule of 2.

Anakin was still the chosen one, Luke was just the catalyst to his redemption. Both Obi Wan and Yoda were blinded by their beliefs, that that couldn't understand that a person could still come back from the darkside, as Anakin does. Even Disney in recently released material have outright stated Anakin as the chosen one. It initially looked like they were going to give that title to Rey, but Disney confirms Anakin fulfills the prophecy when he tosses Sidious on the second Death Star. Sidious does die there, and his Clone in episode 9 was never a legitimate threat to actually bringing the Sith back to the galaxy, which is why Rey was so easily able to kill him. Anakin essentially took the true strength of the darkside away forever with his redemption. Both the light and dark still exist, but neither side will ever reach the imbalance that they were both at during the prequel era.
