I've been pouring before it was a thing (started about 15 years ago) and we just did it with the expensive pouring medium (I have golden) because no one really knew. Poured to make skins for other projects.
I've never seen this technique before and it's beautiful!! The colors are awesome. It's a 2 on my difficulty scale, which makes it great for beginners! Especially since you're using "ready to pour" paints that don't require learning how to mix to the correct consistency. I've never used them, but I teach classes and demo how to make pouring medium with PVA glue and water (60/40). The pillow layer is also made from that, but with the addition of titanium white. I just might try premixed.
My scale: 1 is a plain swipe. 2 is a bit more like a ghost swipe or micro swipe. 3 is balloon kiss because that takes composition, especially if you're going to make the kisses into bubbles or flowers. 4 is Dutch pouring because the consistency has to be correct or nothing is going to move and also requires a bit of composition forethought. 5 would be a chain pull on a complex background requiring color theory and composition.
This is actually a 1, but requires some patience and thought about petal placement and a tiny bit of color theory, which makes it a 2 on my scale.
Simple tools. Paint and a skewer (point removed)/tiny dowel/the back end of the spoon. Colors that will mix well (green + red = brown for instance) and some thought about petal placement.
Such a lovely painting! I was wondering what you were going to do for the center because, to me, the center has to be done or it's not finished. I can imagine you could add not only glitter while it's wet, but after it's dry you could add beads or crushed sea glass, or chunky glitter ... or flat backed rhinestones ... the options are endless!
