- A Big Thank You to all the members of Tuba Skinny, who made this evening such a great success. Nothing but smiles, happy dancers and audience all through. And we can relive it over and over again! Most of this set is covered in this footage. The dancers, even if they at times block the view, add a special atmosphere to the video. Enjoy! A large screen and good speakers or earphones will do well.

Very nicely filmed, CANDCJ. Some challenges here for a photographer, right? The subject is strung out left to right, the light is low and band members take turns doing featured moments, and all those dancers obscure the band. But you delivered something we can all enjoy.

I love the dancing. Everyone is just taking their time; no showing off; relaxing to good music together and finding a groove to the same beat -- that's my kind of dancing. :)
I am watching Tuba Skinny almost daily now, realizing they play what I wanted to hear and perform since a great many years, - as a matter of fact I wished so much to have been inspired earlier by them so I could learn to play this music as well. But while i watch I start feeling the way the band keeps together, a set of diamonds - each in his or her own fashion, Constantly adding facets to their radiation. Wonderful people who have come together from experiences in life that we don't hear much about, and their talents have created a meaning for them - like the fate that made Shaye find her instrument and fixed it up. It became a beautiful treasure - which also the whole band has become - and is still, and still everything is getting better. It is hard to imagine any other people playing this music in this band, and each has his or her special personality - it is a wonderful way of finding meaning in life and giving meaning to others' lives through a talent for music that brings only happy notes and spreads smiles in all quarters. I think Shaye is aware of all this and she is one of the engineers of happiness in this world, making it worthwhile for many people to pick up and do their thing, far beyond the band. I would like to bring a biiiig thanks to Shaye for her kind and careful and very able leadership in all this. I so regret not having been there to join (and also have a tough time) but so meaningful with all the happiness that you all spread this way! It is important philosophy, based on music. I hope everyone looks after themselves and each other well so we will be able to enjoy this for a long time to come. You are a wholesome medicine to humanity.
Hi @johanfagerskiold2953, we just found your thorough, well written comment. Absolutely love what you have pointed out. Tuba Skinny certainly spreads happiness, everyone of them. We are very happy to have found the group, a bit late in our lives, but their music makes us feel and act younger. We thrive while standing or sitting very close to the band, documenting their performances, their interactions as best we can. Our intention is to invite the band to a tour in our Nordic country one summer- it would be a preveledge to let you know.
Erika is a very gorgeous woman an her voice every time makes goosbumps, lover her so much.
A very special performance, Erika centre stage flanked by fine musicians on all sides giving a superb balanced concert with second to none dancing. Fabulous.

I fully understand that but I like to watch the players, just one of my quirks, great music.
I first heard (traditional) Jazz in 1954 when I was 14yrs old in the UK and the popular British band at that time was Chris Barber with Otillie Patterson on vocals,she sang a lot of Bessie Smith,I soon found other bands to follow.I used to dance to almost every tune and could wring my shirt out by the end of the evening.The venue was a hall behind a pub with gas lighting and the stage was lit with candles resting on top of beer barrels.I wish that there was the technology that we have today to record those sessions.We used to do a jive called the skip jive and to the slower blues numbers we did a very slow and somewhat stilted dance ,the steps resembled a slow march, but with rhythm.I like to see the dancers as it takes me back to my youth but I would like to see the band too,usually the cameras are off to the side for filming,I did see a video of Tuba Skinny where the cameras were set higher,but that is not always easy I know.The difference in the style of dancing to this kind of jazz is interesting,the American style I see here is very similar to the the Lindy Hop.I think Greg Sherman is a good addition to the band, his singing is very similar to the style of the male blues and folk singers of the 1930s and 1940s .
