Whoever was the sound engineer for this performance did an amazing job. He/she is not credited here, but it is the best, cleanest sound of any of Tuba Skinny's live performance's I have heard online. The brilliance of their interpretations really shines thru. Best to all the band, and kudos to whomever did the sound.
FOLKS, THIS IS HISTORY BEING REPLAYED. THE VERY BEST, TUBBY SKINNY WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS ONE OF THE GREAT BANDS OF JAZZ. AMAZINGLY, THEY HAVE STAYED TOGETHER SO LONG. A SPECIAL CHEMISTRY IS BEING HEARD.
This is the happiest music I've heard for a long time. Listening to classics I often thought I'd like to meet Rossini in the hereafter, but this stuff keeps me smiling all day. Shaye Cohn, who could almost carry it herself, being expert on too many instruments lets everyone have their cameos. I love the way she taps and syncs the entire group into action.
To me it's the nuances of sound, volume, and shifts giving spotlight to each player. The talented rythem and tuba players get little recognition normally. This band is the exception. As this group evolved, a washboard musician was added. (And, he is a musician. ) This group has phenomenal talent. I'm amazed and love what they can do!

Craig is so great with the clarinet. When’s he’s playing the second part/support melody, he is so GREAT at supporting the highlighted musicians he still shine, without stealing the spotlight. This, whole band is GREAT musicians...moreover, they play well together and look even better. Bravo 👏
Excellent Trad Band. I really like Greg's singing, especially "Any Old Time"! I have been playing trambone for 50 years in jazz bands . I also like Erica's singing. You guys are awesome!
Down here in Kiwiland we are starved for trad jazz This band is so talented and you guys are welcome Anytime you are able to travel to Gisborne New Zealand. I am totally in awe of all of you. God Bless.
I have lived and breathed New Orleans Jazz since the 1950 . This band makes the hairs on my neck stand up as did Colyer. Have seen them in N.O. A few times. They are just fantastic. Thank you.Roger Dobbing
Undoubtedly one of the best Dixy bands with popular virtuosity and enormous interpretation, without comparison, that have been formed in the history of the original music of the United States, it is a symbol of the feeling of a great nation, admirable, greetings from Mexico
Damn, I just listened here in Cedar Park, Texas, and cried it was soooo goooood! I could see myself strolling down Canal Street with Jelly Roll and the gang. Whew!!
Deep Bayou Moan is one of the most hauntingly beautiful tunes I have ever heard. I love the way it captures the stillness of the bayou, cypress shade, Spanish Moss as well as the almost imperceptible movement of the water and the breath of breeze. It is a masterpiece!
Shaye must be an old soul is the only thing I can figure. The feeling she puts in to her cornet playing is incredible! Most young people seem to be sadly lacking in this degree of talent. The entire group are fabulous!
There are literally hundreds of Tuba Skinny vids on RUclips, all good to great because the band is that good.. What is so unusual about this one is the professionalism of the film and audio crew, plus excellent editing. A sophisticated capture of TS just isn't possible in most of the venues they play. Alice Glick, whoever you are, thank you!
Every number a classic, but Bellamina is just delightful, especially as it concludes with a wide smile from Shaye. Craig responds, as much as to say: - "That's as good as it gets" - Great, great, great. Words fail me; awsome, epic, amazing, great. Each and every one player is quite fantastic and together bring a new kind of joy to this planet.

I effing love this band. No stars, no big egos, the total sound comes first. Terrific subtle and original arrangements. Killer rhythm section. For now, this is one of my favorite jazz groups playing, along with The Bad Plus.
Based on your comment, I had to hunt down some The Bad Plus. Hmmm... I'll have to look again. I can appreciate them, but it was too hard to switch gears from Tuba Skinny. Another day, perhaps.
Sooo much fun, and beautiful. I love what they all have together, and the talent is indescribable...I’m thrilled that these artists are being heard- The World needs Tuba Skinny.
I hope I can hear you all in person. This was the best ! It made me feel so good. The cornet player was wonderful her tone was great. The trombone player has soul in his playing. The rest were perfect.
Just saw TS last night at the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival in South Jersey. Every piece was a wild, wonderful slice of New Orleans street jazz that left us hard bluegrass fans all screaming for more.
Yes Elbert, Shaye Cohn has certainly done her homework. She is a highly talented multi-instrument musician and is the granddaughter of one of the all-time great jazz saxophonists of the 20th century Al Cohn, who at one time was with Woody Herman's band. She has become a street-level musician herself after receiving formal education and becoming a concert pianist and has developed and taken Tuba Skinny to a world class touring status having performed in Italy, France, and several other foreign countries.
Being a tuba-player myself I have been following Tuba Skinny for a few years on You-tube and I was delighted to see them live in Dendermonde (Belgium) three weeks ago.
Can't stop watching these guys! I played New Orleans jazz Jersey shore in the 70's as a kid, moved to Hawaii and if anyone from Hawaii sees this and wants to put something together post me. Hawaii needs a sound like this! It would be a hit! Tuba Skinny keep bringing us this great music!

Yea! Me too. Shaye is a maestro! I'm in awe of her great skill and musicianship. What an honor to play beside her!!
She seemed particularly happy that day
This is one of the best videos of Tuba Skinny, IMO. They look like they're having fun, too. Deep Bayou Moan never sounded better.

I love it and yes this group are superb
Shaye Cohn is the granddaughter of the famous jazz saxophonist Al Cohn.
@@Byron-Dallas Now it makes sense! It's in her blood!
I did a few gigs with Shaye's grandad in U K many years ago with his son Joe. Is he her father?

It was so good to see when Greg sang “Any Old Time” that he kept his mouth focused on the microphone

Brilliant. The trombone solo at 19.52 brings the tears in my eyes, what a wonderful performance!

What a great band! And that lead horn is out of this world. What a great tone she gets out of that ancient cornet.
