What I love about these covers is that she plays absolute classics. The official videos of these songs usually focus on the singer or lead guitarist. It is really cool to watch these songs from the perspective of the drummer and she nails it every time! Thank you Sina, you are awesome!

I don’t have to comment on the performance of this video, my Lady Sina already knows my view of her, but I must say that I just have to shake my head at the people who give a dislike to anything this young lady does! I don’t understand how anyone can dislike her music and covers. We need many many more artists like Sina to carry the production of good music into the future!

Every time I watch you, I see someone who can just sit down at the drum set and make magic happen. I am sure there are hours and hours of practice behind each song you do, but in your final performance you make it seem so easy. And the different camera views show how much is going on, all at the same time. You are a magician of the drums.

( Of course she did because she's awesome and the Best drummer on RUclips. ) ... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ... 10 Stars out of 10 and two thumbs up for Sina's cover on this Journey tune ... 👍👍🤠!

Ahhh a"Journey" back into time when Love, Peace and Happiness was a plenty! I had to go and watch the original to see what you were referring to with Aynsley Dunbar's grip. Neal Schon, (Perhaps one of the most underated guitarists ever!), outfit and hair is hysterical! Love how you capture the essence dressing the part with your 70's top. As usual you were dancing with your kit but it appeared even more so here. *An animated Sina, is an AWESOME Sina!* I like the lighting and the split screen angles for this one too. Nice change-up and it was fitting for this song.
This was Journeys first album with the legendary Steve Perry. IMO he is the only vocalist that belongs behind the mic with them. I have seen them numerous times over the years but the 2 most memorable shows were the Frontier and Escape tours. Escape, IMO, was easily in my top 10 shows ever! All the classics and wow what a stage show!
Not sure how much of Journey's material you are familiar with but they have a ton of really great tunes. RUclips "Girl Can't Help It" One of the best. The epitome of the 80's in every way. Steve Perry in all of his glory! *Check out a young Randy Jackson from "American Idol" on bass! LOL!
    ~Journey one of the greats!~
Thanks Sina and crew. Love this!

What do Nils Lofgren, Eric Burdon, John Mayall, Frank Zappa, Shuggie Otis, Ian Hunter, Lou Reed, Jefferson Starship, Jeff Beck, David Bowie, Whitesnake, Sammy Hagar, Michael Schenker have in common? Join this journey to find out...
THE SONG - "Wheel in the Sky" was written by Journey's guitarist Neal Schon, Robert Fleischman, and Diane Valory, bassist Ross Valory's wife. She had written a poem "Wheels In My Mind" which served as the basis for "Wheel in the Sky". Fleischman wrote new lyrics and Schon crafted the melody. Fleischman was Journey's vocalist prior to being replaced by Steve Perry who sang on the song.
"Wheel in the Sky", along with the other tracks for Journey's fourth album 'Infinity', was recorded between Oct and Dec 1977 at His Master's Wheels Studio, San Francisco and Cherokee Studios, Los Angeles. 'Infinity' was released on Jan 20, 1978 and reached #21 on the Billboard 200 album chart. As a single, "Wheel in the Sky" was released on Apr 8, 1978 entering the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #89 on the same day. It peaked at #57 on May 13 and was last seen at #91 on May 27, 1978 with a total of 8 weeks on the chart. It was Journey's first song to chart on Billboard's Hot 100.
There are a number of suggested meanings for the song - some off the wall. Perhaps the simplest is a story of loneliness, life on the road, and a desperate yearning to return home. The wheel is a metaphor for the passage of time.
THE DRUMMER - No other modern rock / jazz / blues / fusion drummer has played with as many successful bands and musicians as Aynsley Dunbar. He has, to his credit, over 30 gold and platinum records from over 112 albums. Playing drums since the age of eleven, Aynsley began his professional career on the Liverpool jazz scene.
In May 1982, he told 'Modern Drummer', "I finally got lessons when I was about 13. By that time I was playing rudiments better than my teacher. All he could do was help me read music and understand it. I left school when I was 15, and formed a trio with a sax player and a keyboard player."
In 1966, Dunbar auditioned for Jimi Hendrix who had difficulty deciding between him and Mitch Mitchell - the latter won Hendrix's coin toss. Dunbar then joined John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in the summer of 1966. He stayed with Mayall until the spring of 1967. Dunbar explained, "Mayall wanted me to stop playing as much as I was, and become more of a “blues drummer.” I didn’t want to do that, so I decided to leave. The next day, Jeff Beck called me and asked me if I’d like to join his band."
Dunbar was later the drummer for Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention. Frank invited him to L.A. where he lived in Frank's house for nine months. Aynsley said, "I played with him for nearly three years and had a great time."
After some work with Lou Reed and David Bowie, Aynsley took a call from Neal Schon. "Journey had been calling me up ever since I had been with Bowie. I thought what they were doing was interesting, but what I didn’t realize was that what they tend to do is copy themselves. There was no ad-lib with them. The guitar solos are note for note just like the album. They wanted me to play note for note behind them, and I wouldn’t do it. So they put up with it for about 4 1/2 years before they told me to get out."
Dunbar's drumming philosophy - "If you want to make a song a hit record, it’s got to be clean, crisp, and to the point. You can’t have million-note fills all over the place because people can’t hear them, they can’t understand it, and so they won’t want to buy it. It might appeal to all of the drummers in the world, but we only have X amount of drummers who are going to go out and buy that record. We have a million other people out there who want to hear something."
Aynsley Dunbar prefers the traditional grip except when playing rock and roll. Rosanna asked Sina about grip choice and how she approached the cover. Sina told her, "I tried to copy the original drumming at the beginning and played more and more 'in the style of' towards the end. I chose the traditional grip because I saw Dunbar using it. For me, the matched grip is easier because I only started practising the traditional grip about one and a half years ago. It's really a completely different arm and wrist movement. It's a personal challenge to learn both."
Although this is Sina's first Journey drum cover, she has taken on Aynsley Dunbar's drumming before. Check out her two Whitesnake videos "Still Of The Night" and "Here I Go Again".

Aloha Miss Sina! I really like Journey and this cover is awesome. This isn't your first venture into traditional grip and I hope not the last. I watched a Buddy Rich documentary and he said that matched grip was for tympani and the younger generation of drummers should realize there are other ways .. traditional grip. So you made Buddy Rich proud I guess. 😁 Fun fact: I'm in Australia and I'm getting to meet Andrew Hutchison and his wife for pizza this evening. Then we are going to watch an Ironstone and Miss Victoria gig at a local club. I'm pretty excited. So thank you very much for introducing me to so many talented singers and musicians and ultimately new friends. Sina-Drums is the best! 😁🤘💕😎

Great music is timeless and it puts a smile on my face that Sina is such a perfect proof of that in my book.

Winter is here again oh Lord
Haven't been home in a year or more
I hope she holds on a little longer
Sent a letter on a long summer day
Made of silver, not of clay
Ooh, I've been runnin' down this dusty road
Ooh, the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
    I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
I've been trying to make it home
Got to make it before too long
Ooh, I can't take this very much longer, no
I'm stranded in the sleet and rain
Don't think I'm ever gonna make it home again
The mornin' sun is risin', it's kissing the day
Ooh, the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
    I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
    My, my, my, my, my
    For tomorrow
Oh, the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
Ooh, I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps me yearning
    Ooh, I don't know, I don't know

This song put my youngest brother into the principles office in grade school. The teacher asked him "What does wheel in the Sky mean? He replied. I don't know! A bicycle wheel?" With that the teacher got angrey wrote a note and sent him down too the office. Well, he was asked over and over again and he said "I don't know. many times." Being just 7 years old he did not know about the real meaning being " the sun. in the sky." So he was sent home with a teachers note over the question posed from this song." As for you playing it so powerfully and more expressive it has become another band tune improved by you!!! Way to go!!!

Sina is an inspiration to so many young lasses out there and especially in Japan, China, Russia, Poland, USA, UK, and, of course, Germany and many more countries. This is a great drum cover of Journey's Wheel in the Sky. I think Frank Brown's description of you as the "Princess of Drums" is spot on and it should be viewed as an EMPOWERING description. Continue with your musical JOURNEY.

There's only two things. One is that this is a tribute to Aynsley Dunbar, not Steve "The Machine Gun" Smith. The second one is that Sina did it her way, not excatly how Aynsley Dunbar did during the recording session and all live performances as well😀
And now something about a good song for a tribute to Steve Smith: imho "Don't Stop Believin'" would be the best choice😊

Hi Sina I hope you read this. I found your videos a week ago and have been enjoying them all week. Love your style and confidence. I watched a lot from 2015 & 16 and I just saw a new one and your performance is great. Your posture is not. In 2015 you sat straight and your shoulders are back and your head is up. In 2020 this has begun to change. I have seen this before and it is hard to correct the longer it is ignored. PLEASE DON'T I hope to see you in concert some day at Soldiers Field or Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Growing up in the 70’s & 80’s Journey was one of my favourite bands. They are amazing musicians. Aynsley Dunbar is one of my favourite drummers. You obviously study the drummers you cover, but I really enjoy the way you embody his unique style and technique in this song. Have you listened to their first three albums? They’re more jazz-fusion oriented. Aynsley is really unleashed on those records.
