I saw a 2025 Trax at a tractor supply store and fell in love. 2RS, Nitro Yellow, and Sunroof. Definitely one of my dream cars right now
Korean Trax actually looks better than the previous Trax models. No wonder GM let them design their other Chevys
I Drove one and really liked it. Ride and handling is "solid" although I did detect a little turbo lag and it seemed to be a little difficult to modulate the acceleration...sluggish at first and then an unexpected burst of power. All in all a nice drive. That engine seems to be holding up in the Trailblazer over the last couple of years.
Great review. Picked up my 2025 White LT this last saturday and I love it.
Would you recommend this for a first-time car buyer?
@@danLTa1 Yes! The 2025 is great for the money! Solid......
The new trax is fabulous. It looks great, it is loaded with features, and is a great value. I would love to have one.
I have a brand new 2RS, I just bought in April 2024. It’s not underpowered. It does fantastic on the freeway. I’ve had zero issues with feeling as though it has no power.
It’s unpowered. You don’t need to lie to yourself or anyone else.
@@TheDiameterNah, the 1RS gets up and going. Go test drive bro
@@TheDiameteraww, someone is triggered. Clown.
@@erick6726 Don't listen to the clueless hater. The 1.2L surprised the hell out of me. Love it. 2024 LT
Test drove a Trax yesterday, I agree it's not under powered, while it's not a V-6 with four adults in the car and a full tank of gas, it didn't hesitate to do what was needed getting on the interstate. I'm thinking all who cry wolf about being underpowered needs to wake up and smell the coffee, high HP engines are fading way, especially in smaller cars an light trucks ... get used to smaller engines, embrace them.
Insane Trax Ben !! ❤❤
I just bought a brand new tracks and I love it I don't have any problems with it it's got enough pick up for me it's not a hot rod but it's good on gas better than those electric cars any day
Get the extended warranty if you buy this vehicle. undersized, over stressed engine with two wet timing belts is a maintenance nightmare at best, and a ticking time bomb at worst.
The included power train warranty is five years. The extended warranty gets six years. Is the added expense worth it?
@@robrowe91The extended service contracts pay out ten percent. You have more chance of coming out ahead by gambling in Vegas. I bet the timing belt is excluded.
@@robrowe91when you’re stuck on the side of the road ask yourself that question
@@user-tb7rn1il3qthat’s why you ask what’s covered before you buy an extended warranty and for how long.
@@user-tb7rn1il3qextended warranty is probably the biggest waste of money a person can spend. They are designed to last just beyond the terms of the warranties before they start breaking down.
That is a good looking trax
Don't buy this car if you are someone (like me) who keeps cars for long term and doesn't trade in every few years. This engine is trash and will be a carbon ridden dog just about the time your powertrain warranty is up. Idiotic internal timing belt design will be expensive as hell to replace and is a ticking time bomb. Outside of the motor, the Trax is actually a really good car, love that it has a 6 speed instead of CVT and beats the competition in almost every other category (price, interior space, styling, features, etc). It's sad that Chevy decided to not offer a NA 4 cylinder model for 2025. I would pay more money for a Trax without this engine.. but as it stands it's a deal breaker for me.
So $800 for a timing belt kit with labor somewhere between 60-100k miles?
How do u know how long our warranty is?
@@smat531 Most mechanics in the know are recommending changing that more like every 40k miles. GM claims 150k miles which is laughable. The problem with that design is with it being internal there is no way to look at it and know when it needs replaced until it breaks, and you can go ahead and get a new engine, no rebuild required. (Hence the ticking time bomb comment). Look this is just my opinion, which is based on the opinion of a lot of mechanics and engineers, but if you like it go for it. GM's quality is taking a nosedive, all they seem to care about these days is fuel economy and cost to build. My work vehicle is a 2023 Tahoe with 11k miles on it and it's drinking oil like gas... I was initially told it's normal to have to put 1-2 quarts of oil in it between oil changes... Now it's at Chevy for oil consumption testing.
@@WildDisease72 Because I can read. I would recommend getting extended warranty of some kind of you insist on going with this car. Doesn't matter if you, like most people, trade in cars every 3-5 years anyway.
Interesting. I like the look of the Trax but we keep our cars long term. My 13 Ford Focus and the 6 Chevy Sonic are paid off. Kind of like not having a payment but would like more room.
3 cylinder turbos have experienced a lot of problems no matter the manufacturer. I purposely avoided the 3 cyl. engine when I bought my new vehicle. Opted for naturally aspirated I4 hybrid.
Agreed.. Too bad they made the decision to stick with that 1.2 Turbo for the only engine option for the 2025 model. The car is such a home run in every other category vs the competition (styling, features, price, etc). That motor is the singular reason not to buy this car. That design is just not made to hold up in the long term. Made to get you through the warranty period, then good luck.
The 1.2 L has been around 4 years, Chevy,Buick both use this engine, starting with the 2020 models.
No major issues reported.
@@9Packintonight's lottery numbers please!
@@carlchapin8352 Wow it's held up for 4 full years? You should do some research on this engine, it's been used in other markets way longer than that and there are plenty of "major issues" reported. A bad design is a bad design, period. You can try to justify it anyway you want, but it doesn't change the objective truth. If you like the car, buy it. Just know what you are getting into with it. These cars won't be worth spit in the used market once they have a bunch of miles and the warranty is out on them.
@@9Packin the 1.2 L engine thats in the Chevy was introduced on the 2021 model, so yeah it's 4 years old.
There are trailblazers and Buick gx out there with over 80,000 mi on this motor with no problems.
I don't think there's anyone buying a Chevy trax that will expect it to last forever!
I bought a 2024 activ, I love this car.
In my opinion for the money, best new car you can buy!
The 1.2 L turbo engine has not been in production Longer then 4 year. Do some research!
In the other markets they put a 1.5 L engine in the Chevy trax. Do more research!
Like I said you seemed to be able to look into the future, tonight's lottery numbers please!
I like this vehicle, but I have concerns about the long-term durability of the wet timing belt. I've seen reviews of other Chevy cars that have this type of belt, like the Chevy Onix, and it seems they start to break around 50,000 miles.
Ben, I'm glad I ordered my Maverick when I did; yes, the prices have gone up. Mine is an XLT w/ AWD and the Luxury pkg. The realized highway mileage on the Maverick is higher than the estimated mileage on the Trax, but where I do most of my driving is stop and go to/from work where the Trax excels w/ its higher rating vs. my 23 mpg. Since health issues are forcing me to consider trading down to keep owning a car somewhat affordable, the Trax has become a pretty high contender. I actually think that 3 cylinder sounds pretty good too, and what's not to like about torque? I'm actually disappointed in the way torque sort of is non-existent in my Maverick. It's quick as heck, but there's no real sensation of the torque it's making. It's completely different from our late-Escape(RIP) which had a very strong sensation of the torque it was producing. Anyway, on the Trax I can still save a good amount of money and not give up some of the features I added to my Maverick, like the heated seats/steering wheel. ....it also wouldn't surprise me of the stereo has better sound too, though I'll miss the AWD come winter.
I'm averaging 33.4 mpg combined, running with the A/C on at all times. 36ish mpg on straight highway driving. Most of my driving is commuting with stop and go traffic. Very torquey feeling driving around town. It's no powerhouse cruising down the highway, but it has zero problem keeping up. A short test drive is all it will take to sell you on it. Love mine.
It’s funny how the Trax has a rear wiper and the similar Buick Envista does not.
I love the design, space, price, and that 3cyl growl. I'm terrified of the reliability though. A GM Korea (Daewoo) turbo engine. They don't have a good track record. Direct injection. That has a bad track record. A wet timing belt designated as a "lifetime" belt, yet the owner's manual says to change it at 150k miles. Does that mean the engine lifetime is 150k? A RUclips mechanic reviewed this engine and he said it's going to be a headache to replace the timing belt. Big bucks. You might be saving a couple grand buying this over something like an HRV or CX-30, but I suspect those cars are going to be far more reliable, longer lasting, with better resale, so they're likely worth the extra bit of money.
Korean engineered with probably the absolute worst engine sold in a modern vehicle. Gotta hand it to Chevy though it does LOOK good.
LOL Can you back up your claim about the engine??? Let me answer for you. NO.
The 1.2l turbo engine is actually American engineered. It's built in Mexico. So not much to do with Korean engineering!
The only thing Korean is where the Chevy Trax is manufactured, South Korea at a GM owned factory!
It's too bad it wasn't built in the United States!
This has a more tried and true chevy powertrain, also i hear despite lower power, the torque actually feels quite nice and faster than ud expecte
It’s one of the most underpowered cars on the road today
@@TheDiameter LOL Says the guy who has never driven one... It has more than enough power for what it is meant for. It's not a racecar.
@@TheDiameterthey're slower cars made by other companies. In its class it's not the slowest!
@@TheDiameterI have a 2024 black activ, bought in February new.
I now have 5600 problem free miles, this motor has plenty of power for everyday driving, including the highway! 80 mph at 2600 RPM.
Go test drive one see for yourself. Good luck finding one to test drive they can't keep them on the dealership lot.
I love my 2024 Chevy Trax! Wish they were built in the United states!
@@TheDiameteryou are one silly person arguing in every comment about how you hate this suv… mf this is an suv(almost a soccer mom). You are arguing with yourself, go touch grass
I have a 2024, and i love it. God blessed me to drive me Hyundai accent for 10 years. i would be driving it now but the kia boys kept trying to steal it, and when they could not, they would just Knock out the windows Happen to me twice. Asshole it to someone for $3,200 I had absolutely no problem with the Hyundai. I trust God then, and I'm trusting him now.
We bought a 2024 Trax and rhe AC quit at 7k miles! ,The part to fix is on backorder for months, dealership and Chevy will do nothing to help! We are driving around in a brand new car without AC in the middle of summer. This seems to be a common problem. I would not recommend buying one! It's been a nightmare!
Good review. I would never buy one, but I see a lot of these in Southern California. Quite a change from the plethora of Silverados and Tahoes. The Civic offers a manual transmission. And is made in the USA. "It's got a warranty" LOL Better hope Chevy honors it, because these have a wet timing belt. The belt is internal to the engine and lubricated with oil. Service will be complicated and expensive. Repairs will be expensive.
I actually like this except it’s underpowered, in my opinion. I had a 1997 Plymouth Neon and it had 150 hp 😂.
Did the headlights turn yellow on it in no time?
Have you drove one?
@@briandonald the Trax makes more torque though.
You can't drive it like you stole it everywhere you go ... also preventative maintenance makes for a long lasting engine, changing the oil an filters (don't forget air filter) and by all means use a GM approved 100% synthetic oil from someone like Mobile 1 or Castor.
Heard it comes with a. 50,000 5 year warranty
Besides the warranty.....put the money down for an extended warranty.
All new Chevy Trax only comes in front wheel drive, all wheel drive is not an option on the new Trax !
These small engines nowadays... SMH
1 cylinder 8 turbo coming soon.
too lazy to google, but what's their cheapest AWD model?
They don’t have one in the trax
The engine is too anemic to support AWD
I think the answer I was looking for was “Trailblazer”. $26K before options. I’d rather pay a bit more to get AWD.
Mazda CX-30 comes standard with AWD and has a motor that won't be a dying dog at 60k miles..
All wheel drive is a waste except in very narrow situations, otherwise it just makes your car heavier and less fuel efficient and more things to break
I had a 2015 Trax, and it was better than the new one, and they got rid of the AWD. I am very disappointed in the Chevy for this one.
After the car got broke in i ran 4 0 to 60 excelleration tests only one was over 7 seconds 7.2 not as slow as the ev butt heads are talking about 😂😂
if you are the type of person who lets their oil changes lapse, and drives like an ahole everywhere you go, and is afraid to get their nails dirty doing a simple timing belt change, avoid this car... for the rest of us, it is a great machine for little bucks!
These reviews are all the same reviewers like shiney objects that my mom could do the exact same review, buyers on a budget will take out longer term loans to keep payments low and end up in a money pit of repairs in 6 or more years because they don’t want another new car, not a long term 10 or more year car
Korean - FWD A disposable vehicle
Korea only made the designs. GM still decided the powertrains
@@JoseDiaz-qw7mgwhich is its WORST part ironically
Yeah it's affordable alright affordable junk.

@@XX-166owning this is worse than throwing your money away
