Map light removal and installation is much easier if you take the whole assembly off.
Corey Tolliver agreed. You don’t have to worry about using tape. Pop off the housing and twist to remove bulbs.
you can also remove the clear place cover in the rear with a flat head. both front and rear were done the harder way in this video

Best tutorial on RUclips. I have a 2012 Chrysler 300 and I already changed the two overhead bulbs, how do you change the map light bulbs?
In your first segment for changing the map / dome lights.. You know you can completely bypass having to figure out how to take that dome bulb out with the tape by just pulling the entire unit down from the back. The unit itself is held in place by 4 clips and 1 connection wire to power the bulbs.

Tip I found. Use a silicone bracelet to grab those halogen bulbs. Super easy on coming out.
Thanks for this video, however I needed to use another method to switch out the dome lights.
I had to as well, using the tape method one bulb did shatter - ended up taking off the whole dome light assembly - just four clips, turned out to be much easier
What about the map lights for 2019?
i have a 2017 charger sxt..and theres light bulbs lighting up the two front floormats..but i didnt know how to get to them..
Alright so this video was perfect for how you actually install the lights, the step by step guide was easy. So with that said you'd think this would be a quick install like in the video right, atleast for me absolutely not. The bulbs in the light fixtures were the biggest pain of the ass to get out. After they were out it was cake but holy hell were they difficult. Not only did they not come out no matter what trick I did (the tape trick eventually worked after almost a whole roll was used) but I live in Florida so even at 4 AM when I installed these (I work overnights so I'm a night owl) it was 80° outside and by the time the tape got on the bulb all the stick was gone because of the humidity. Other than that the lights are fantastic and look great in my 2020 Charger and I am happy with my purchase.

How do I get those lights to turn off the come on whenever my headlights are on and that home icon thing blinks yellow how do I turn these off?

+mn9tube, of the four map lights, two are already LED and two are incandescent. The incandescent bulbs can be upgraded to LED; however, the two bulbs that are already LED can't be upgraded. For the other location you are inquiring about, can you please email a picture of the bulb and the location to contact@diodedynamics.com, and our sales representatives can determine if we have a bulb that will fit!
Can you not change the lights in front of the map lights? There's the 2 lights in the ceiling that you push the button for in front of the 2 lights you changed in the cluster by the glasses holder and sunroof controls.

Anyone else notice the typo on the overhead reading consoles bulb number? They were actually bulb number 194 for me. 2016 Charger Scat Pack.

How do you change all four map lights that's in front of the rear view mirror the video only showed two and they left the others factory color I'm trying to figure it out in my car

Apparently the map lights have a second light but it looks as though it's a warm white LED. Any chance of making replacement boards for a cooler white? Same with the courtesy light in the side mirrors?

Dang. On another note, any possibility of offering the festoon loop bulbs in the doors and trunk in warm white? I decided to do warm white to match the built in map LED mentioned above but only cool white is offered for the door and truck lights.

hello. Do these leds have issues with having the afterglow effect? I'm getting a charger soon so I wanted to look into an led option without that afterglow. thanks

+Kevin Cooper That bulb can be tricky to remove. How you tried threading a piece of tape behind the bulb? This should give you a better grip so you can more easily pull it out of the housing.

Yes I learned that the hard way 😓
While doing this, I broke one of the bulbs while it was still in its female adapter for the front map light, cut three fingers papercut style trying to yank down the entire front map light housing to try and install the bulbs a different way (which was much easier), I broke one retention clip for both rear passenger map lights, somehow punctured a small hole in my roof liner just below the left passenger map light which exposes the yellow foam msterial underneath which with my OCD will bother the crap out of me. I simply gave up on the glove compartment bulb; tape did nothing for me. This definitely did not take 10 mins nor was it easy; it was a Bltch to do.

Try using a piece of tape. Stick half of a cut of tape to the bulb and then stick the other half of the piece together to pull the bulb out.
