    I went into this film thinking it would be an over-rated mainstream film given its familiarity given the source material, however I was really impressed in the direction they took it. A really psychologically captivating story.

      That's what I liked about it, doesn't matter of you're a comics fan or not, it's "just" a well-rounded psychological thriller and it definitely works! A surprising adaptation, especially loved the creative twist on the Wayne family 👌

    I always felt this movie is how could the Joker exist in the real world. Not a super villain but how could he really exist. I thought this adaption and Joaquin's performance was beyond, terrifyingly amazing. This may be the best twisted, off beat character in the cinema since Psycho.

    Nothing against Ledger (RIP), but i never quite got what people saw so special about him as joker? He was fantastic ... for Heath Ledger. Nobody thought he had that kind of range - which is why so many protested and predicted its failure when he was announced for the role.
    There was nothing scary about ledger's character, imo. Phoenix genuinely frightened me.
    As an 80's kid, Nicholson was always Joker in my mind, even after Ledger, and Leto can get f***ed. But Phoenix took them all to school.

      To be honest Heath Ledgers performance was pretty amazing. That said what made his performance seem so epic and legendary was that he entered scenes in the movie to set up his performances. A scene would be in progress then he enters and takes over the scene which made his performance seem better then jt would be had he just appeared consistently and not just entering with a bang. Also his screen time allowed the audience to wait and anticipate his arrival into the movie at different times. So that helps the character again feel more epic than he would have been. Great performance though but Wacking Fenix was on screen start to finish which is more amazing and actually more difficult than what Heath had to do.

    Murray invited Arthur on his show to make him look stupid. Rub salt in his wounds.
    And once Arthur admitted to those murders, a responsible host would have considered the victims families, and cut to commercial. Like his producer was practically screaming for him to do. But Murray was only seeing ratings, and kept the scene going. He thought this might be the biggest episode of his career. Never considering anything else.

    I think the entire movie is told from Arthur's point of view. He is retelling his story to the psychiatrist at the end of the movie. Arthur's version portrays himself in an empathetic way and everyone else is an exaggerated version of his antagonists. Maybe?😀

      Oh woaw, that's an interesting take and I must say... I *love* the idea 🤯! Perhaps Joker 2 will help shed the light on what transpired in Joker 🤔??

      @steph1522 Год назад +2

      @@SignedK Thanks! Maybe that's why we never see what he did to the love interest next door. According to the story (from his pov) his killings are portrayed as justified. The one murder he can't make excuses for, the innocent victim of his romantic obsession, he just skips over in his narration. *or I've watched it too many times😁

      Wow, keep'em analysis coming please, there are so relevant! I didn't think for a second that something else may have happened besides him just leaving though. I took for a fact his non-stained outfit, contrary to when he killed Randall. But as you say, if he's bending his reality, then he might have just 'erased' the blood from the storytelling 👀... much to think!

      No actually according to the director and co-writers it was not Arthur telling the entire story according to what he perceives. They said that we know when Arthur is telling his story and when things really happened and they said everything you see that is too good to be true is what Arthur made up in his head. The shitty parts and depressing parts were real. The director said why would I make a movie where everything was made up by the protagonist? He said the beginning where he is on the Murray Franklin show was obviously in his head, so was the daring his neighbor, and when he’s performing his stand up act and the music begins and it appears he was a success on stage. Him working as a clown and getting his sign stolen, getting beat up, and all the rest of the negative things all really happened. They said they used music, different lighting, and things that were too good to be true as things that happened in Arthur’s head so no it wasn’t Arthur sitting with that therapist telling the story.

    The condition is real I forgot the name but there are people who cry or laugh umcontrolably, fhe actor said he studied and watched videos of people with this condition to be able to do it accurately, he was awesome in this!

      Yes, someone else commented that it was due to a "Pseudobulbar affect". Joaquin Phoenix is a brilliant actor indeed and his portrayal of Arthur Fleck and Joker is unlike any other role I've seen him portray. He surprised me a lot!

    In defense of Thomas in the bathroom scene.
    Arthur did show up unannounced, he did also assault one of his employees and was being creepy with his son and Thomas may have been truthful when he said he is not his son.

    • @SignedK
      @SignedK  Год назад +2

      Agreed! I just thought Thomas went from 0 to 100 pretty fast.
      Besides, responding to someone you think is mentally unstable by punching them in the face doesn't sound like the best idea >

    • @robbob5302
      @robbob5302 Год назад +1

      Was truthful. The hospital records said he was adopted. So even if he had slept with her (I kinda doubt it) Arthur still couldn’t be his son. He wasn’t even her son.

    • @tonysoto8949
      @tonysoto8949 10 месяцев назад +1

      No actually Arthur is his son. When a child is taken away the only way he gets handed back to his parents is if they are his biological parents, in this case his biological mother. If Arthur was adopted as they claimed he was CPS better known as Child Protective Services would have never returned Arthur to Penny Fleck and Penny would have lost her rights to adoption and Arthur as a child would have been taken out of state and put back in for adoption once his wounds healed and a social worker deemed him healthy enough. Penny would have served her prison time then released but could never again adopt a child, much less have an adopted child returns to her. Also Penny had a photo on her mirror that Arthur looked at and Penny was a very pretty woman, and when he flipped the photo Thomas Wayne wrote something romantic on the back complimenting Penny on how good she looked and then initialed it TW

      There is no defense for punching someone in the face. That’s why society is so fucked up today. Dumb ass Bruce should have never approached the gate so bad on him. And he did they because Thomas Wayne is busy trying to run for Mayor instead of teaching his dumb ass son not to talk or approach strangers. Also Alfred had no right talking shit about his mother. If a muthufucka tells me my moms is a delusional crazy woman I would snatch his ass up too. He should have grabbed Bruce’s simple ass and dragged him to the house and ignored a total stranger at the gate. He should have also reposted it to the authorities but he had no right disrespecting Arthur’s mother. So sorry your reasons for Thomas Wayne being within his rights is BS

    Joker is not a good film, let alone a masterpiece, I'm sorry to say. Terribly sorry, even! 😬
    I wanted to like it but was profoundly disappointed.
    I have a meticulously crafted set of reasons why I think Joker is awful (including two I haven't seen anyone else mention). I can also drop links to excellent videos that speak of how Joker fails, some of the points therein mingling with my own. That is, if you or anyone else here is interested. 😊
