One of John's best runs, along with JSA and Green Lantern. I recently bought all the thick softcovers, Book One through Six, so probably going to pass for now, but this omni looks great.
Smotlock his run on this character is phenomenal! Top notch super hero comics!
is the book 1 to 6 the same as omnibus 1 to 3?

I do think DC needs to decide on a format for their Collected Editions whether it's Omnibuses , Oversize Hardcovers , Trade Paperbacks etc. and stick to it. They are so bad at Collected Editions compared to Marvel and other Publishers

Never ceases to amaze me how much of a human comic book encyclopedia you are omar 😂😂. You really are. How you memorize the issue numbers in a given collection or all the writers and artists for any given story or storyline is beyond me. Also that Scot Kolins artwork looks beautiful and the colors look very nice I really like that it gives it this classic silver age comic feel to it, especially the covers. They really give me that classic comic feel if that makes sense lol. Are the covers done by Brian Bolland?

This was one of my pre orders in November. I'm honestly glad I took advantage of pre release sales to get this book because December would have been rough on the wallet! Mine comes in the mail hopefully before New Years Day. I've never read this run and heard nothing but praise for Johns run. I'm glad they remapped because thinking that this would cover Johns run that it would end after the second omni if it comes. It never occured that they could just continue this after that into other runs. I'm stoked. I know the binding is tight and there is gutter loss but I like it much better than say the binding for Authority omni. I finished it and it feels like the body wants to pull away from the boards. There needs to be a happy medium between too much material for an omni and this book achieves it. I'm more surprised when you stood the omnis up that the new one showed so much moisture with all the wavy pages. I hope acclimating it and letting it lay flat helps solve the problem. Thank you for the overview on this. can't wait for your haul video for the month of December and you need to do an update on your Phase 2 Transformers overview when and if volume 11 comes out to possibly end Phase 2. The previous overview that I have saved to my favorites only covers to like volume 7

I've just finished reading Crossfire from the digital book (book two). Awesome. I love the rogues and their bag of tricks. Very entertaining. And as you said, the artwork really works for this kind of stories.
Christophe Verre and by the time it got to Rogues and Rogue War oh man!!!! This was THE Flash story!
Great run. I have been personally collecting the fat trades that have been coming out over the past few years. I agree it does start off a bit slow, and I am not too big on Angel Unzuetta's art. However, once it gets to Blood Will Run and Scott Kolins (and later Howard Porter) takes over the art, it gets really good. This run is not my favorite of his, but I would definitely put it in my top 5 next to Green Lantern, JSA, and his late-2000's Action Comics runs.
Taylor Pechter those fat trades are great. Kollins is my Flash artist.
@@NearMintCondition He's up there for me as well. I think Manapul is my personal favorite, but Kolins is a solid number 2
@@NearMintCondition I wish DC would put out those JSA fat trades faster. It's such a long run, and just putting out one a year, is going to take it forever to finish.

Great overview of The Flash by Geoff Johns Omnibus Volume 1 Reprint Omar !!! I thought about getting the recent Trade Paperback releases of The Flash by Geoff Johns but now that the reprints of the omnibuses are now coming out I might just get those instead. Keep up the great work Omar !

Reading this right now and Omar you are correct Geoff Johns is a modern day master. My 1st omni about Flash not the first time I've read Flash though since I did Batman/The Flash Button mini series by King and Williamson to delve into Doomsday Clock but that doesn't detract from this amazing read so far. Blood Will Run arc is impressive and I care about the characters what more can I say this has convinced me to proceed with the Vol 2 release that I hope DC still fulfills for 1/19.
Another great video Omar. Thanks! As usual ur review makes me want to purchase the book even though I’m not a huge fan of flash and you compared it to Claremont x-men which is my favourite comics. However, don’t think I will purchase given the binding. I know that’s a little lame but I’m reminded of Scott Snyder Batman which (in my opinion) has bad binding. I just finished reading secret invasion from Marvel with excellent binding which added to making it an enjoyable read. When I read a book I don’t want the experience to be more about how to read it but more about what I’m reading. I know sounds lame but it’s an issue I can’t ignore. Thanks again. Always look forward to your reviews. I’m currently reviewing your video on your collection (older video) but find the section on independents/foreign purchases very interesting. Looking at trying to purchase some of those as well based on your comments. Thanks again.

I've noticed the same thing with how long those books are. My batman eternal and batman by grant Morrison vol. 2 are shorter than some of my older omnis

I have this coming Friday, January 3. The glue lining the page block has been a bit too thick on recent DC omni's. No book is perfect, and it's a flaw I can live with, as it affects readability, as you demonstrated, on only a very few splash pages.. DC's recent matte paper usage in "Deluxe" volumes affects readability on every page, and is a flaw I cannot live with. Thanks Omar.

Hi Omar! It's been a while I've been following your channel. Must day you do some amazing videos, so congratulations on that! For somebody based out of India, it's really difficult to possess enough knowledge about DC and Marvel comics but thanks to you, I'm doing fairly okay on that front.😁 Just wanted to check if the issues in Flash by Geoff Johns omnibus are exactly the same as Flash The Silver Age Omnibus Vol.3.
Thanks so much! These are different. The Silver Age is known as volume 1 and this era is volume 2 of Flash (post Crisis).

Hi Omar, I'm a Dc and Humanoids guy, but Dc's decision is wrong. Sadly the books are smaller now, then years ago. I've noticed that months ago.The standard hardcovers are smaller too... Nice job as always!
At least with the omnibus format they are all the same size now.

Forgive me but I'm still a little confused. Does that newly printed thicker Vol 1 omni replace the first two or all three of those thinner previously released omni's?
It replaces the first and half of volume 2 of the first printing omnis.
Man Bolland's covers are so beautiful and detailed. He is definitely one of the best in the biz.

Just finished reading vol 1 of the new printing. Do you know if the thicker editions mean we'll only get two new volumes instead of three like in the original printing?

I wish they would put the mark waid stuff in omnibus format. At least they are making the trade paperbacks

After I got my Scott Snyder Batman Omni I started thinking that maybe it’s better to get hard cover deluxe instead of omnis.

1. So thanks to you and Gem Mint, I am no longer a day 1 buyer. I learned my lesson from the Batman (Snyder) Omni from (Gem) and this. I still bought this one, since I didn’t want to pay eBay prices so I’ll deal with the binding.
2. Don’t know how I feel about the spine on this one. Although the art is great the size and placement is awkward?? Dunno?

As with most things, I've been waiting for you to do an overview of this before picking it up. Really disappointed to see DC still haven't learned their lesson regarding the binding. :(
How is it that Marvel are able to make their binding so good and DC are constantly hit and miss? The quality of the recent Injustice omni was great, so why is this one so poor?
This omni is something I really wanted to buy too. So frustrating!

@@comicbookcrazy WTF are you talking about? Dan is in charge of Editorial and has almost nothing to do with the construction of the books DC does. Don Falletti is probably the one that can make the biggest changes in that department. It could also be the bizarre assortment of random places creating DC Books. My Absolutes are from China, Some of my better Omnibuses are from Quebec, another few are from New York state. It appears they have several different companies producing different books for them. Which may be why Quality Control is all over the place.
What would you recommend me to buy - trades or omnis? Which is better? I don't have any omnibus, so I am afraid it might fall apart.
I have only had one omnibus fall apart. My complete fault. I was moving books around and it fell. off my top top shelf. Other than the books are meant to last.

@@TheDanken07 It is mainly gutter loss. You do need to be more careful with Omni's so if the book was for a young teenager, i'd recommend trade paperbacks, or if you want to read it on the train etc. If you play on reading it at home and don't throw your books around then most omnis are fine. :)

Hi, Omar, I'm a mom of 2 boys, I was never in to comic books until recently, would you say this story is ok for a 12 year old? Hes read some of the captain America epic collections, stan Lee and Gruenwald ones, silver age green lantern, stan Lee thor, but it's kind of difficult to find recommendations for tweens, if you have any let me know, also is the wolverine omnibus too gory? Love your channel thanks for everything!
Amelia Martinez, first of all thank you so much for watching! Means the world to me. I have two daughters so understand these things. As far as this Omnibus is concerned, it’s a great read with some depictions of violence. I hate to give spoilers,but it’s for your son. There is a scene that will be in volume 2 that one of the villains with sound waves kills Wally’s two unborn twins in the womb. Now this is all undone by the end of the book. But I wanted to make you aware of that particular scene. As far as Wolverine. It’s the classic stuff from the 70s and 80s. Nothing really gory. Things that are gory are left out of panels. I really hope that helps and please let me know if you have more questions.

As a potential new reader to x-men (but only familiar with the big screen movies - where would you suggest I jump into x-men ? I notice forbiddenplanet (here in the UK) list X-Men omni vol1, how does uncanny compare, or does it all lead into the same story one way or another?
Uncanny 1 is my go to place to tell people.
it should be illegal to collect more Johns' books multiple times before other writers get any collections at all

On the fence I've never read flash and I'm not sure about it. Hard to sort through stuff when I finally picked up comics at 30 a few years ago of whats good.

Man that binding is so disappointing. I am nearly done with The Flash by Mark Waid TPBs and I when I saw this video I really perked up because I like that Scott Kolins artwork so much and I'd like it oversized. But that binding might just be a deal breaker for me. I might just stick with The Flash by Geoff Johns TPBs

What is going on with their binding?!? Now we not only have to worry about the massive books, but also the smaller ones like Flash and Animal Man?! Shame since they were consistently nailing the build on those smaller books and making, dare I say, better books than Marvel for a time period.

Who had the better run Geoff Johns or Mark Waid??? I've never been a big fan of Flash but love the TV shows and want to read some comics. I know this is Wally West since I bought Flash Rebirth and New 52 Omnibus.
I would say Waid strated this amazing mythos that Johns perfected.

I received Volume 3 in the mail recently. I heard that there was a printing error in the original first printing release. Can anybody help me out with what pages were out of order? I have never read this run before but I would like to check to see if my copy is in the clear from the page mix ups. I am still planning on picking up both volumes of the the new re-releases though.
Hey MJ. The printing error is in the third omnibus of the book. So not this printing at all. So you are good.
@@NearMintCondition Oh yeah I know that. I was actually referring to the third volume. I picked up that one as well recently because I got it pretty cheap since I have the first two volumes in the set as well. I was wondering if anybody knows which pages have the error in volume 3? I read that the error was corrected by DC but maybe most of the books in circulation have the error.
Crap. The page is a huge spoiler though. It has to do with Zoom.
not getting this one,in fact im not buying ant dc omnibus before they give us good binding,thight bindings will ruin the spine later on depends on how much you will read it,but it has happen with some of my dc omnis,getting tired spending money and all we get from them are crap quality books.
i stick with ohc and tpb from dc for now

What’s wrong with DC? Why do they keep making the same mistake with the binding over and over? The only way they are going to learn their lesson is for omnibus collectors to stop buying these crappy books altogether. Take your money elsewhere.
