Thank you to Gabriel Fowlkes for bringing to my attention that Flash 1/2 the prelude to Rogue War is missing from this omnibus, but contained in the original third volume and the second edition of the trades.
That's a bummer, you won't be able to get rid of all of your trades now. I wonder why DC decided not to collect it. Oversite maybe?

Well, I bought the new edition of vol 1 and was all set to buy this one too, despite already having the original 3 which I’d planned to sell or give away. No deal now. I’ll just sell the new edition of vol 1 and keep the originals. I’m sick of being burned by DC’s incompetence. At least this time there was forewarning before I wasted my money yet again. Thanks for the heads-up, Omar.
I hope they do a volume 3 with FC: Rogues’ Revenge, Flash: Rebirth, Blackest Night: Flash, Flash 1-12, and Flashpoint.

Johns's Vol 1 was my first real experience reading a Flash run and it didn't disappoint. I don't know how he does it but Geoff has an uncanny ability in making you care about characters you've never read before, or maybe thought were dumb, and leaves you wanting more. Definitely picking up Vol 2 when it becomes available in Germany.
Bit the bullet and got Volume 1 after waiting for a long time. Loved every page, and I’m massively excited to get this Volume 2 in the mail tomorrow! Johns is a total master of the craft

Due to your recommendations I decided to crack these open and read them and with Geoff John’s I never should have doubted. Barry Allen was my childhood Flash but I heard of an entire generation recently lamenting the way Wally West has been portrayed recently but I knew little about the character. This is a fantastic read and without your praise it would have sat on my shelf for much too long!
That Blitz story arc is FANTASTIC.

I read volume one and loved it. It was the first flash run I’ve ever read and I got volume two preordered.. so the only thing I need to read before this is the identity crisis tpb by brad meltzer? It’s still in stock on cgn if that’s all I need I’ll pick that up now! Awesome video!

It’s weird that the #1/2 issue isn’t here, but issue 219 is there? I’m assuming this is because of Justiano (another Gerard Jones situation), but it’s weird that they didn’t include it, but included the other issue? It’s in the trade paperbacks and the original omni printings.
Thanks again Omar for an amazing review. I thoroughly enjoyed the new printing of Vol 1 and just completed Vol 2 yesterday. Geoff Johns in top form here. Now reading this as a new reader for the first time I can totally understand why Heroes In Crisis made folks upset about what they did with Wally now. My first Flash read had to be the Flashpoint miniseries about Barry but it doesn't confuse me at all and my first Wally West story was Flash Forward which was good but yes this run just doesn't let up once it gets going. If there's anymore content for a vol 3 I know DC can take time but I'll jump on it if it ever comes out like a Road to Flashpoint type omni. Once again many thanks, Geoff Johns works just doesn't disappoint me its crazy he's so good like you said in your Top Writers video.

Hi Omar, I have this pre ordered, I got vol 1 after you reviewed it. I read crisis on infinite earths, and loved it. Now I’m reading waids flash, and byrnes man of steel. Which I loved when it came out. Just like you 😊 can’t wait for flashpoint next. I’ve never read any flash stories. Thanks Omar

Haha. Same. Trying to find a balance of digital, single issues, tpbs, HCs, and recently omnies. I’ve been upgrading so much recently I have about a dozen omnies still unopened. Need to find the time to read those stories again.

Great review as always but bummer to hear Flash prelude missing. Not a showstopper for me though. Kinda wish they would have stuck to a white on white design not only for consistency but red on red is not as clear despite great Turner art. Still would give the edge to Waid's run first before this (wish Waid would also get Flash Omnis) but I love this run also. Yes on Vol 3 Omni there is enough Johns material left.
Best Flash artist for me HAS TO BE Manapul, the man is a legend

Thank you for the diligent work as always. This convinced me to stick with my set of trades for now, but I could see this being wonderful for someone going into it fresh.
My personal favorite Flash artist has to be Francis Manapul. His layouts and visual storytelling in The New 52 is the gold standard for me, despite the story itself being merely OK imo.

I am double dipping on these two new editions especially since I'm a bit bothered by the errors in the 3rd omnibus. I bought the first three when they dropped in value after the 1st omnibus was released just to own them as collectors items and to complete the set but it's looking like a good choice after reading that the new omnibus has some missing material.
You might want to rethink that. I was doing the same, but vol 2 is missing the Wizard 1/2 issue that leads into Rogue War...so that makes this a definite downgrade. I would only buy one if they put out a corrected version, but not now. I don’t know what it is about these Flash books...first they switch pages in one of the first editions, now they leave out an entire issue.

Reason I'm commenting is that your pitch makes it not worth getting at all, yet it's a Flash run worth reading.

lol it’s more of a don’t upgrade like I did if you have the original three.
The reason why I hate what Tom King did to Wally West in heroes in crisis is because it shows that Tom King doesn’t understand who wally west is as a character. By making Wally commit that act it completely ignore wallys entire history and who he is fundamentally. Wally west supposed to represent hope, he believes in the heroes and believes in doing what’s right. He is optimistic and a very positive person. There is no way Wally west could be a mass murderer, let alone have no emotion about it. Wally isn’t a sociopath or a psychopath yet that’s what Tom King made him basically undoing everything Wally ever did. Luckily they fixed a lot of Tom Kings mess and put him on black label so he can’t mess up any other characters in the main universe.
Is the art cropped in the new printing? During the comparison the spreads in the older version seem to have more of a border.
Art is always cropped in collections. But keep in mind this is the newer format of omnibus from DC. The original sizes were a mess and all over the place.
What? When was this announced? I had no idea it was coming out. Crap, now I need to add this to my list with New Teen Titans 5, Silver Surfer, Cloak & Dagger, and Ben Reily V2.

It's actually only about half an issue of content (it was a mail away promotion) and no it is not necessary. It sucks it's not there, but you can still get the book if you have not read the story.
