    This review makes my pulse race, just look at the harmony married with beautiful lines, the areas of seamless tone in the bodywork, the gradient of the hips finishing in the fine posterior, the progressive elements in the twin lamps, the muscular structure and thinking of the artists who made this wonderful form makes my mind boggle.

    PIcked up my GTV TS for $3K (AUD) And I liked it so much, I picked up an Alfa Romeo 147 a week later as the family car. Both silver with red leather interior. Love them both. Perfect Alfa experience in both. (good days and bad days lol....but mostly good).

    One of the most beautiful cars ever.

      +g00dfeeling Pininfarina styled, generally considered a very handsome car although the odd Steve Wonder who probably prefer the more dour styling of the German brands won't agree.

      John Stots
      It won a fair few awards back in the mid 1990s so I guess that counts for something. I presume as you find it ugly you haven't owned one? It was and still is a very good car but it is 20 years old and the original designs date from the 1980s. Yes I bias as I happen to think they look great amd have owned 3 over the years, the first in 2001 and have one sitting on my drive right now.

      +John Stots Relax man its just a car. Buy some Toyota or VW and enjoy your life. Pity you can not see beauty in GTV though, but it is not for everyone definitely.

      +John Stots Perception doesn't have nothing with it. For example, if you don't like Michelangelo's David it means that you're not capable to recognize true art. The same thing is with GTV in the world of cars, it is incredible and there is something wrong with person who has need to discuss on internet how it is ugly. If you are indifferent than I assume it would be OK but in your case I would be worried about my taste.

    • @g00dfeeling
      @g00dfeeling 8 лет назад +5

      +John Stots Cars are products of industrial design and that's why most of them will eventually be scrapped. But in 50 years there will be lot of GTVs that will be restored. Nobody will restore Toyota or Volkswagen.
      Each Alfa model is pure art (MiTo, Giulietta, upcoming Giulia) and GTV is in my opinion the best among them. I never said I own it, that was some of the previous comments. I said that I admire to GTV as it is pure happiness when I see it on the street. The same emotion is with all other Alfas. Other manufacturers have part of the portfolio great such as Citroen C6, Cactus, Renault new Espace, Fiat Multipla, Lancia Y but only Alfa (and Maserati) have 100% models that are pure perfection.
      In automotive world they are as Mona Lisa or David in art, no critics will say nothing bad about them as they are benchmark for perfection.
      As I said it is OK if someone is indifferent as I don't expect from anyone to admire to my car, but if someone has need to discuss how ugly they are that has to be some really stupid motherfucker.

    The GTV is GEORGEOUS. You can pick one up for a grand and just £2500 gets you a really nice example. I am very tempted!!

      DO IT! I got mine for $3K AUD and while it's not a perfect example, it's just pure fun. Mine is the 2.0 TS and while I've owned much faster cars, the GTV is just a diferent kind of fun. Try and find the slick top though, as the ones with a sun roof are a real squeeze due to loosing 2 inches of headroom.

      Chris Winter I think I will; every time I see a GTV I want one!

    I like this car but i wish it has an FR drivetrain....

    • @adelaide7822
      @adelaide7822 4 года назад

      FWD doesn't equal bad. Look at the New Honda Civic Type R for example, or if you don't really like that the Acura Integra Type R, which is in my opinion and a lot of others the best FWD car ever made. Also there was a race where some japanese tv show compared an MR2, skyline, integra and another car I forgot the name of to basically see what drivetrain/engine layout was the "best" and the integra won so.... No FWD isn't bad at all.

    Nice to look at, but hideously torque steery, especially with the Q2 diff at low speeds. Sold an R32 GTR and bought an immaculate 'cup' version with single mass flywheel and Q2 diff. Tried hard to like it for 5 months but it was no drivers car and not a patch on the Skyline (which was standard BTW). Sold it and bought another GTR...but for some strange reason, I miss it!

    • @roasthunter
      @roasthunter 8 лет назад

      +bugattieb110ss Bizarre, my v6 didn't have any major issues with torque steer, the chassis does give quite good feedback and sticks to the road well, heavy car so does understeer. Its not quite the same as GTR which I guess is more of a hardcore car, the GTV is best designed for open roads with sweeping bends hence the.

    • @bugattieb110ss
      @bugattieb110ss 8 лет назад +1

      +roasthunter An unmodified GTR is a nice well mannered car, mine had eibach springs and a bit more negative camber at the front and was excellent. The GTV was, like you say, a bit of a 'tourer' in comparison. Definitely not a sports car in any way.

    • @chriswinter5765
      @chriswinter5765 7 лет назад +3

      "...but for some strange reason, I miss it!" And there it is ;) I owned a 350Z which, while not as good as an R32 GTR, was "better" than a GTV. And yet, I now have no 350Z, and 2 GTV's. Odd hey. Alfa have a driver focused magic than Japanese brands always seem to be missing. And there's no explaining it. It's not logical.

    • @bugattieb110ss
      @bugattieb110ss 7 лет назад

      Hmmm, yes don't look too deeply into that statement. I used to own a Holbay Hunter many years ago and I miss that too, but i bet if i drove another one now i'd hate it! I made the mistake of buying another 916 V6 last year and by the time i'd got it home it went straight up for sale again. It was awful. I've had a mk1 MX5 for nearly 4 years now and absolutely love it in a completely unbiased way. It's almost standard apart from manifold and a nice exhaust and fresh original spec shocks and bushes all round. One of the best cars I've ever owned (and i've owned a lot of interesting cars) and worth every penny of the £600 I paid for it. My '79 Alfetta GT project with GTV6 running gear will be up for sale in the spring as i want to rid myself of all Alfa's once and for all. Vile and hateful things that promise so much and deliver so little, apart from massive bills and crushing disappointment. Sorry Chris.

    • @chriswinter5765
      @chriswinter5765 7 лет назад +2

      +bugattieb110ss Never be sorry for your opinion mate. I'm not sorry for mine. Each to his own as they say. I have massive respect for the MX5. Well known for being the best street legal gokart money can buy. And I'd always back the fact the RWD is more fun than FWD. But....I love my alfa's also, and I'll certainly not apologize for that opinion ;) My silver 98 GTV is loose and rattly and raw and I love it. My 02 I've only just purchased. Feels like a new car but has a few niggly things to fix. Meh, what old car doesn't? My 2005 147 Hatchback is the family car and is so comfortable, yet has the fun factor of the GTV's also. Occasional ghost sensor failure but she's always good 10 minutes later. Taking the family on a trip, having a blast through the Perth Hills, track day, or just throwing my mountain bike in the back, the 147 seems to just take everything I do on it's chin.

      I can get CD's in and out with ease in both my GTV's. Odd angle for sure, but there is nothing obstructing its function.
