They have almost $2 million in mortgages. The original $875k was for the partially completed house abandoned by the original owners.
Between the mortgages, the million plus owed to the IRS, other likely liens on the property, commissions, capital gains taxes, and moving costs, they probably need to sell the house for a cool $4 million just to break even.
A short sale probably wouldn't help them, and the bank might not even agree to it. They just need to continue living in the house for free until the eviction, which might be quite a while after the foreclosure, and then move.

Happy Tuesday, Diva 🥰! This latest ☕ is just so trifling and disrespectful. There's no way that some judge is going to grant their request. This is just so sad and crazy.
So they just think they should get to live in that house for free? Kim and Kroy had a reality show for a long time, the one thing they should have taken care of was paying off that house.
Kim was never going to stop gambling and shopping, but Kroy had the power to right this ship for the sake of their children. On the show, she got paid $80k per episode, and he got paid $20k per episode -- 10 episodes per season. Please believe that if I were in Kroy's position, I would have been putting half of my after-tax income away in a fireproof box in the attic that Kim didn't know about.
But seriously, when Kim first got hit with that $215k judgement from American Express 6 years ago, Kroy should have pumped the brakes and got everything in order.

THE move was to go back to Andy Cohen begging to get back on the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Their situation is too far gone for Kim to still be fronting, so she might as well get paid for her humiliation. Kim is friends with Porsha and didn't get along with Kenya when they were last on the show together. Sounds like a recipe for a success.
They DID pay off the house, these PAST/CURRENT foreclosures are in reference to a 2nd loan/mortgage that they took out and CAN'T/WON'T PAY BACK!!!!!!!!
@@honeybee8002 They went through the foreclosure process twice. The first time, the second mortgage of $300-something thousand was scheduled to be foreclosed in November 2022. The second time, the primary mortgage for $1.6 million was schedule to be foreclosed in March 2023.

Right now, a "short sale" is better than foreclosure, and if they catch up on their payments, then they can sell and hopefully make a profit - this was Kroy's plan, but dealing with Kim who only care about appearances wouldn't sell
