What an absolutely fabulous video. Seeing as you posted this 2 years ago (It's almost 2024) I feel a bit late in the game but better late than never, right? Thank you so much for producing and publishing this very helpful video. You're awsome!!!!
I know I'm very late to the video but I just bought one and have been watching all the reviews I can find on the io24. This one though is one of if not the best I've found as you not only went into everything like other reviews but you also demonstrated the limiter which might seem small to some but the other channels I've watched only mentioned it but never demonstrated how well it worked. I have some more expensive gear in total than the io24 but this'll replace it all as it does everything my other gear does and simplifies everything with the software. Thanks for the great review :).
This was a great informative and educational video. Definitely subscribing... love how you went through every bit of the software and didn't leave out the smallest detail. These native effects are game changing.
This looks pretty awesome. I was always interested in their studiolive ar8/10/12 range. I really hope they combine this with faders and virtual cables in a version 2 to really challenge the goxlr for gaming streamers.
The processing is all onboard, not using the cpu, so it’s pretty in-noticeable delay, especially if using Asio into obs. The sync will depend on how much frame delay the camera has, you won’t be waiting for this. I actually now use this standalone directly into my blackmagic pocket 4K in analogue and it syncs perfectly.
@@ScanProAudioTV Thanks for the reply. I stream with an Atem Mini and currently use a Tascam Mixcast 4 but this little box seems so much simpler for the way I stream and having the DSP plugins is a nice bonus. How do you run the IO24 into your Pocket 4K?
I set up the presets with processing on the computer, then you just need to usb power the unit and feed analogue out into the camera. You could do the same into one of the stereo analogue ins on the mini if you wanted to.
Would the audio of lines 1 and 2 be treated separately? Sometimes I play guitar while on call but don't want to bother my friends with it. I like my revelator IO44 and want to use ASIO for Rocksmith and Amp sims. so far from what I've read and seen is Using another interface. If that's the case I'll keep my 44 and get another one or some other interface
Now can you setup the presets in the software then use it without the software open? I do use my iPad some and was wondering what options I would have. Thanks for the video.
Hey can u tell me which interface is good for shure mv7x I'm using Scarlett solo 3rd gen but i can't get enough gain, I'm planning to return it or should i go for Audient iD4 (MKII) or SSL2 or MOTU M2 im planing to live stream please help me
Did you get a chance to try this for something like recording tutorials using a DAW and a mic recording into OBS on ASIO? I am assuming that is what the Loopbacks can help with as ASIO and OBS hate each other normally.
Thanks so much for this. You cover a lot of informations that many do not. I have subscribed. Thanks a lot. :-) Now I need to learn OBS on how it works and the way to stream. :-)
Very informative, thank you. Just got my io24 and love the sound and control. Do you happen to know if we use lav mics with 3.5 mm plugs using a 1/4 inch plug adapter or do we need to use a 3.5 to XLR adapter. Thanks!
Can this be plugged into the rodecaster pro as the output? Meaning process everything on the Revelator then out to rcp. I assume I would need the revelator to plus into the trs on the RPC?
Yes. If you have a very insensitive mic like the SM7B you may want to use the expander a little, but it’s good and would go into the ‘great’ value category with sensitive condenser mics
It has 60db of gain, which is the amount usually recommended for the SM7B. Presonus preamps are usually pretty clean. If you needed a boost beyond that, you can just increase the gain on the compressor. In the video, he said it was running direct with 50db of gain.
Yes, everything shown running with no extra preamp. I did try a dynamite stick, but apart from a slight difference in tone (that you can do with the eq anyway) it wasn’t much different in noise level at all when normalised with or without it.
Yes, it’s quarter inch jacks on the back and it works standalone without a computer once programmed with a couple of switchable presets. We’ll do a follow up video about this later. As we didn’t have a manual for the review (as was filmed pre-release) this escaped us.
@@ScanProAudioTV Thank you so much for your response! This is done via loopbacks, or I just simply pick default audio interface outputs as 'Microphone'? I want to be able to stream only inputs of my audio interfaces, no audio from any applications.
This is down to the impedance / sensitivity of the headphones. However… it actually did much better than expected. Even with our fairly hard to drive Dan Clark Aeon 2, it got a louder level without distortion than a lot of non-high end devices. It’s not amazing, but better than average and great for the price.
Nice review. The Presonus PD-70 is a far better mic than SM7B and only requires half the gain (25-35 db). People need to stop spending so much money on a mic that really isn't that good compared to other offerings now.
@@ScanProAudioTV I'll disagree with that too. I'm not finding plosives to be a problem with my PD-70 and I'm a mic eater. Outside of that, I've spent a lot of time in the recording / live sound world to just come to dislike the SM7B for almost all applications, except for instances where the source sound signal is louder than usual (guitar, drums, screaming vox). I find the RE320 to be a better alternative as well. No one should spend $550 just for a microphone (mic + overpriced gain boost).
Can't wait to give this a go. Have been using the revelator since xmas and it's a fantastic bit of kit. Being able to get that functionality with my RE20 will be wonderful.
Thanks for the review-this bit of kit seems really great, shame that it cant run on Windows 7 64 bit OS..... going to have to pick up the Motu M@ instead, but i'd much rather have this AI.

I love the fact that fat channel (which is my go-to in the S1 daw) is available on an interface!

Hi, how do you compare the io24 vs motu m2 & ssl2+

Presonus io24 vs Audient iD4? Which is sounds better?
Nice vid. Have u had time to check out the latency with a DAW?
You didn't encounter any shielding/interference issues? I have read a few people reporting that...
No, nothing.
Chances are they are ground loops, and would happen with any bus powered interface in the same setup.
Did you get a chance to try this for something like recording tutorials using a DAW and a mic recording into OBS on ASIO? I am assuming that is what the Loopbacks can help with as ASIO and OBS hate each other normally.
Just ordered one of these - I was curious about whether you need to do any syncing when using a separate audio and video sources
Do you happen to know the release date for this product I just preordered one like a week ago and can seem to find any info on that online. Thanks!
@@heurycollado3270 - I ordered mine from Sweetwater and the rep told me they should be getting some at the end of this month. I guess we’ll see.

Those mics need 5v plugin power, you need an adapter to change 48v phantom to 5v, such as the rode VXLR+ or VXLR PRO.
hi, i'm from indonesia. I'm wondering if it can be use with another USB mic, and mix it and send it to Zoom app in pc? Thanks for your Video.
Does it have anyway of muting the XLR inputs via one of the front panel buttons?

Yes. If you have a very insensitive mic like the SM7B you may want to use the expander a little, but it’s good and would go into the ‘great’ value category with sensitive condenser mics
@@ScanProAudioTV thanks, appreciate the response!
Are you using something like the Cloudlifter with your SM7B, or is there enough gain on the interface to power your SM7B?

Great video. Very helpful
Hi, can I stream two inputs simultaneously (mic + guitar) into video call using Revelator?
Yes, absolutely.
@@ScanProAudioTV Thank you so much for your response! This is done via loopbacks, or I just simply pick default audio interface outputs as 'Microphone'? I want to be able to stream only inputs of my audio interfaces, no audio from any applications.
and as I said I want it to work in for ex. zoom, skype or teams
Revelator is effectively a mixer, it blends the mic and instrument inputs together and you can select the revelator as the audio input in zoom
How does it sound playing back through headphones? I've found some interfaces can become a little distorted at times
This is down to the impedance / sensitivity of the headphones.

As much as I like the PD70, the plosive suppression of the 7B is much better and it’s far less sibilant. It’s a good value mic for the money though.
