A five speed box conversion is a smart idea. If you want the ultimate in modernisation try contacting Emerald in the UK and talk with Dave Walker as they do a full FI and ecy kit for the XK engines. I have their programmable 3 way mapping ecu on my Lotus and race Caterham SV and they can set up the mapping using Team Viewer.

The XK engine is the best part of this car actually and runs beautifully with the SU carbs. My desire was to keep the car as original as possible and I was not even fond of performing these modifications and if not for my bad back I would not have. Thank you for the suggestion though, FI certainly is technically superior, but I do like the the nostalgia of carbs!
That said, the car is unbelievably better to drive now with the 5 speed, the electric assist steering and the boosted hydraulic clutch (videos coming soon :)
