    I think it's obviously a problem with the left solenoid as the one on the right is clearly working fine. It could be that it seized and they just decided to only use the one side, hence the pulse but then you can almost hear it clunk shut at the start of the test so I don't know but I wonder if that's it on permanent pulse now lol 🔊🤩

    • @Bylone
      @Bylone 2 года назад +2

      How strange, was the left solenoid not opening at all then? If so, I wonder if both solenoids were working then we’d find out if it’s actually meant to be doing a longwinded hi-lo signal similar to Broadmoors old system 😂
      Would be awesome if you could also grab an ambience video of this next time, bet it would sound weird as!

      Must be really bad for the motors

  • @Nthuziast
    @Nthuziast 3 месяца назад +2

    analysis time
    you can hear at the start when the shutters open that one of the more dominant notes from it opening is a c#. while the shutters are closed, you can hear what i used to think was the motor whining actually usually starts around a c# and lasts until a c flat, which suggests the shutters are the actual cause behind the whining. you also usually won't hear that whine on any other siren without shutters. this suggests that, like another commenter from another video on one of the broadmoor sirens said, that whine actually is the shutter experiencing resonance.
    my theory is, as the siren often tends to shake while sounding, years of that will cause more wear on the screws and/or the holes that hold it in place, that connects the stator and the shutter, which causes more whine overtime. this is likely why you can hear a lot more of that whine on the lanark siren, or any of the broadmoor sirens (aside from the trl and crowthorne station siren)

    At least we know what broadmoor’s CS8’s originally sounded like when they used Pulse as their signal from 8th December 1952 (when the first test was conducted) until the 60’s

    This is really strange! I've never heard of a CS8 doing pulse. I would typically think it would do Hi-Lo instead. Not a lot of dual rotor sirens here in the United States do pulse either, unless they're programmed to do so. I personally think they should keep it this way, it sounds a lot more unique. I am still curious as to how they would have fucked it up like this though.
