    Geralt's solo training from the camp scene. The footwork is much easier to perform on tatami mats, than uneven or soft ground, but it's doable.
    Be careful not to strain your wrists! Practice slowly until your hands are comfortable with the movements.
    PS. Big thanks for @Siegfried Song for cleaning up my audio - go check out his channel as he's an awesome metal singer!

      if u focus a bit, moves are simply predictable, every next sequence brings a huge hole between next move and its opening swordsman garda just like invitation to join and use that moment to enter . then if its not fast enough ur surly a dead man. but many moves of this combos u can use in fight to keep your energy rotate and stay low and focus. for me its a great lesson to connect and controll my mind through sword or.. the othet way round. :)
      thanks

    • @BekoPharm
      @BekoPharm 8 лет назад +15

      Absolutly. While the moves may be pointless in sparring they are simply great for warming up and to get a feel for the sword at hand.

    • @cadethumann8605
      @cadethumann8605 8 лет назад +11

      They are practical in several ways. In addition to warming up and getting a feel of the weapon, they can also intimidate others and lower their morale (maybe even have them give up before the fight starts proper). They can also be great exercise and good stress relievers with twirls that don't exhaust energy (whenever I twirl my sword when feeling tense, I feel slightly better). That and they are fun to do and watch.

    • @Oshaoxin
      @Oshaoxin 5 лет назад +3

      @@cadethumann8605 It only boosts my morale if my opponent shows me a dance of impractical cuts that would break their sword. But that's not the point of the video anyway. He's only showing us how to do the Witcher flourish, not fight like a knight.

    Doing this sort of thing is obviously incredibly impractical in a real fight (that and I mean how many sword battles to people get into on a Saturday night nowadays?) but this has got to be a good, fun exercise regime to simply keep fit.
    That and when the winter comes you can use these skills to cut up some snowmen.

    • @Auriflamme

      If you meet a hungry pack of wolves and all you have for protection is a sword, you're dead. It doesn't matter how good a swordsman you are. The spinning stuff will only get you killed quicker.

    There is also one thing about the witcher sword fighting style, noone will never be able to perform it with a speed of a witcher, simply because witcher reaction time is several times faster than a normal human due to all witcher mutations. So maybe in the game it may look inpractical but keep in mind that a witcher performs those cuts in a blink of an eye making it impossible to parry or counter attack.

    Up until the last pommel strike, this seems like it wouldn't be that bad against an unarmored opponent, provided you're wielding a saber instead of a longsword. All of the spins were when you already had initiative, and it has enough fake cuts to distract and confuse someone who's expecting traditional HEMA if pressed hard enough. It's speed and unpredictability make me think it was designed for someone who expects to fight multiple opponents, not to mention 0:59 where you clearly throw a defensive cut behind while pressing the attack forward.
    TL;DR: This could work, provided you have big enough balls to twirl that much that quickly.

    Płynne nauczenie się tej sekwencji zajęło mi półtora tygodnia. Opłacało się. Raz źle wykonałem cios i zarypałem w mur mieczem. xD Dobrze że był drewniany,

    Very nifty, but I'll stick to the Montante drills and Meyer's Square for my big swinging warm-ups...

    I never get tired of these Witcher videos. Also, if I may ask where did you get the sword (I'm assuming it's a practice blade correct me if I'm wrong) that you use for these videos?

    This looks very nice 👍👍. There is only one problem with this move. Never ever turn your back on the enemy, in a real swordfight this is not a good idea. Thank you for this display, nice work.

    From studying your videos I understand a few of these sequences I fair bit better but the true nature of the snake eludes me. Is it spinning the sword in the fingers, turning the wrist? Or what? I see a lot of people asking about this so I'm glad I'm not the only one confused. Maybe a video on the snake itself would be a simple and cool video. Show how to do it properly and how it chains into certain moves? Just a thought. Great video as always.

    Bit of criticism, your english is excellent however I don't think you are loud enough I have to turn up the volume on my computer for every video. Perhaps a different microphone? (Big fan by the way keep up the awesome work!)

    good afternoon. Interested in the moment when the two diagonal cut performed. How justified is to remove the sword from the plane on which it is more convenient to continue the movement of the second punch in a combination of the two motions for eight? This stylistic requirement? Is it necessary to give up the transition of the two cuts at eight, doing too much on the backswing plane bending (trajectory behind back)?

      +Longsword Russia Hello! Not sure I understand your question, but I find it's best to keep the moves as straight as possible - the 2nd cut should go smoothly into the spinning strike, same as in the original video.

    Hello! Your vid's are amazing! But how about to make video witcher book version? In books witcher makes lot of moves which hard to find in internet becouse of their names (feint, volt, sinister etc.). It would be very interesting to see that fight style and moves in real life or some main fight scenes from books. I'm sure there are many people who also would like to see video about that.

    I think something that if you applied to the witchers techniques would be 45 degree angles. I don't have he privilege of practicing Hema, instead I practice ninjutsu. we also face the opponent and come directly but spinning or rotating is applied in groups of three or more, so we can defend and attack multiple opponents in one motion. but we move on right angles when turning as to never be where the opponent will parry or attack. if you try it out and like it a bit better I would love to hear about it.
