I saw a fan comic on tumblr that was Finn waking up on his 18th birthday, ripping his shirt of and grabbing Jake's face and yelling "LET'S GET MATCHING CHEST TATTOOS!" and Tbh that will always be my assumption of how that happened.
Finn was about 18 years old at the end of adventure time, Based off the characters seen and how people speak I kind of feel like Finn would be around 23-24 the last time we see him, 26-27 at the oldest.
He was 17 because the creator said it felt wrong to end the show with finn as an adult because the show grew with finn being a teenager and thats just part of the character
@@Ivi-Tora off the top of my head it's probably because seeing fin age means that bmo might not be useful anymore Like for real at some point we all stop playing with our toys
I don’t think Jake is dead. I think he’s just too old to go on adventures as that was one of his fears so it makes sense that they would be showcasing that actually happening. And Finn’s Jake tattoo is a way of Finn saying that Jake will always be with him in all of his adventures spiritually even if he can’t be physically
This is a theory I would unquestionably believe if Jake weren't part intergalactic alien. Makes it really hard to gauge his life span because of it, but this is probably my favorite headcanon.
But in the train episode when Finn looked into the future ball Jake seemed to have been aging at the same rate as Finn. I think he matured faster physically but doesn't necessarily age faster.
I love that Elk talks about how happy Finn looks. I was always a bit depressed by the fact that Finn admits to Jake in the Dead World he was always just waiting to see him again. Revisiting Obsidian makes me hopeful that Finn did actually have some happiness after Jake died. While it's true he never got over Jakes death, the same way anyone would never truly get over the death of a loved one, he still had his friends, he still had adventures, he still had fun. 2:31 - you might say Elk is a fan of the van.
@@qwart22 Billy is dead, yes. But if you don't remember, Finn and Jake were pretty big fans of Billy the hero. That doesn't mean Finn has no respect for Billy, he knows the bad stuff was the Lich
Another theory. In one of the elements parts episode- Cloud. Finn and Jake were doing a therapy session in the clouds giving eachother “haircuts”. Finn and Jake said that in the future they should open a hair salon when they get older. Maybe Jake was at the hair salon while Finn took action. Just my theory :)
Bronwyn looks and dresses like she's a late teen or an early twenty-something. Based on that I would think it's only been a few years, especially given how fast pups are supposed to age
Also worth noting that Bronwyn is half-bear and only 1/4 rainicorn, 1/8 dog, and 1/8 shapeshifter (compared to the 1/2 rainicorn, 1/4 dog and 1/4 shapeshifter of the pups), so she might age differently. I have a feeling Bronwyn and the pups mature very fast (Kim Kil Whan was only a year old by the time Bronwyn was born, and I feel like her basically being a teenager by Wheels is slower than Kim Kil Whan's maturation), but once they mature they remain healthy adults for a long time. Jake's kids don't look any different once they become adults, all the way to the end (Come Along With Me).
I'm really hoping that Finn has taken up the cool laid-back uncle role from Jake, with Bronwyn being the youthful and excited up-and-coming adventurer.
Simon probably brought them because PB yelling out “banana gaurds” for help was ingrained in his brain after hearing it so many times as ice king pestering her. I can even hear her say it in my own head XD
Kinda shocked but also heartwarmed that Finn is comfortable seeing himself with a beard. I’d think it’d remind him of Martin, and we already know Finn’s idea of the worst version of himself looks like Martin as of “don’t look” But by this point in his life, Finn’s feelings about Martin could obviously have changed.
The reason why he doesn’t age is because when Betty made the wish she was inferring that the crown’s magic was keeping him safe of all harm that included aging would stop
PB was so unfazed because that probably was just normal for her and she just rolls with Finns stupidly and rushing in from just taking showers and gets him clothes later on during missions
I think it would've been really cool if Jake had Become Finn's arm. Like he found a way to permanently attach a part of himself to his brother to enforce their bond as brothers, or it could strictly be a combat thing. Though, I do like the message it sends with Finn forgoing a prosthetic arm.
I choose to believe that, on Finn's 18th birthday, he got the tattoo, asked for the flowers, didn't know their significance. The artist didn't say anything because Finn seemed to be repressing something, so just stayed quiet. Once he learned of the significance of the flowers, he turned it into a joke. "Oh, it's so sad that Jake is dead." "Is Finn telling people I'm dead again?"
The 3rd part of distant lands is about Finn if I remember or it’s the 4th one. Peppermint butler is with that abracadaniel looking character in the teaser
Jake is Finn's brother, father-figure, guardian, and best-friend all wrapped into one yellow stretchy dog. Btw, in the beginning of Adventure Time why do think they made Jake a dog, because Finn was supposed to be last human and a dog is a man's best friend. Makes sense right.
There's something really funny about our first look at adult Finn being him coming out of the shower. It's so mundane and not epic whatsoever, it's perfect.
My theory: Finns gonna show up in every episode of the distant lands series, We first saw him as a baby Then as an adult So I think we’re gonna see finn in different ages We might even see his reincarnations too
Seeing Finn and Jake grow old is so wholesome yet so painful. I've grown up with this series and thinking about them going on their last adventure together makes me as though I'm losing something important, but idk what it is :'(.
Two characters show up together for a single frame Everyone: its a couple. A character don't show up for a single episode. Everyone: HE'S DEAD! Update: Sorry everyone.
the fact that the flowers are blue implies it’s forget-me-nots which also heavily implies hes dead. i mean, you dont get a tattoo of a living person with those flowers around them. would also make sense why bronwyn is with him, maybe they just live together now as family friends
I like the interpretation of him dying (weird to say I know). I think it really reinforces the whole message of time moving forward and the world living on even as individual people die.
i estimated how old finn was based on how the show progressed his age in real time. finn was 12 when the series started in 2010, and as the series went on in the years finn grew in age as the series grew in age. is been about 2 years since come along with me, where he was 17 when it took place, so i have to guess, based on how much time has progressed in the real world vs the air date of obsidian, i have to assume that finn is in fact in his early 20s. 20-22 to be exact. maybe because im 20 now im biased since i basically grew up with finn when i watched the show!
That`s cool! I also kinda aged with Finn cause I think the creators of the show said that Finn will be 18 in the last episode of the Distant Lands and if it will air in the second half of 2021 (it probably will) I will also be 18 by that time!
@@danieladuranbello Well there are exceptions for episodes which are obviously set in the past or future. This includes episodes like "BMO", "Come along with me", and "Simon and Marcy".
Adventure Time was always great at solidifying story arcs and plots, but leaving enough of the lore to keep us questioning forever. That’s world building. Love this show so much!
I'm not entirely sure jonathon frakes is actually real-world finn's adult voice. puhoy was based on an episode of star trek: the next generation (the inner light), so they probably chose him for that episode as a tribute, since he played riker in that show. wallace shawn, who played grand nagus zek in star trek: deep space 9 (and, more notably, vizzini in the princess bride) also played rasheeta and imaginary jake in that episode. so it's possible that was just an "oh this would be a cool connection" thing instead of a "this is what adult finn always sounds like" thing, but i could be wrong. (btw i was SO excited when that episode came out and i made that connection since adventure time and star trek are 2 of my favorite shows)
Althooough, in the episode “Dungeon Train” when Old Finn is seen in the future crystal, he was voiced by Jonathan Frakes again. It’s possible this was just for consistency’s sake bc the episodes were being produced around the same time. Now that Jeremy Shada is older I doubt most ppl would mind him playing Adult Finn so they will probably keep him if he appears as an adult anywhere else. idk, my guess is Finn is in his 20s here, just wanted to share since I recently watched that ep :0
@UCk6I0lMjHoXYVJ_OLLlqSdg yes ur right, the whole voice thing was just brought up in an attempt to guess how old Finn is here. Jonathan Frakes voiced his adult self in the eps "Puhoy" and "Dungeon Train" tho

@@samspin429 well golb is the embodiment of chaos and he appears most likely, because of how chaotic the world finn created in his head was. Bronwen is definitely 18+ She was an angsty teen she’s first seen but she’s now in a stage of life of exploration. She was eager to leave the RV right when they stopped to explore! I love and believe your insight that “she explores with Finn to get a better understanding of her grandpa.”
I just want to make a point with Marceline's "don't remember how to be angry" line you referenced. When you have that one special person in your life, in as soon as a year, maybe months, your life and viewpoint on life can change drastically. You may consciously, or subconsciously, begin to improve yourself and work on your issues because your partner gives you the support and motivation you need. So it may not even be that it's been so long that she literally forgot, but it may just be because over the short time it may have been, she's become a different, much more mature person as a result of PB. In the same vein, AT has done what many other animated series haven't done. For one, you have many pieces of media, where the characters FINALLY get together, but it's during the climax and you don't see anything about what their relationship is like afterwards. In others, the characters get together at one point, and then that's all it is. Their characters are the exact same to each other, save for the fact that they're labelled that they're "dating". PB and Marceline are showing how comfortable a relationship is, how different people can be once they have someone else by them, and the improvement of themselves not for themselves, but for each other.
Jake is probably on finns chest because jakes voice actor couldn't break his contract for disenchanted therefore his absence is based on irl legal issues
i don't think that this is the case, supplying your voice for one or two lines isn't going to cost you your job plus there is going to be a finn and jake episode to end off distant lands right after the peppermint butler episode
You missed the most important evidence that Jake outlives Finn from Come Along With Me: in the intro you see two stone monuments of what look like Finn and Jake, but we then immediately see a partially destroyed stone tablet that reads “Fin-“ and “Jer-“. While anybody could’ve built monuments in memory of the heroes Finn and Jake, monuments to Finn and /Jermaine/ would’ve almost certainly been done by Jake, in memory of his brothers. This factor, combined with the implication that Jake has natural genetic longevity from Jake The Starchild, is strong evidence in my opinion that Jake is not only still alive in Obsidian but outlives both Finn and Jermaine (regardless of whether he’s alive in the 1000+ future or not).
100% what I thought too, I also see the reason for the tattoo that maybe Jake forgoes his adventure days (or at the very least his monster fighting days) after the events of the war and Golb where the treehouse and he himself got wrecked, leaving Finn to get the tattoo so that Jake would still be there at every adventure, in spirit.
OK, but that "longevity genetic material" didn't just give the owner a naturally long lifespan on its own, Jake's dad prolonged his life artificially by draining his offspring's stretching powers.
Well I think you forget, in the dungeon train episode, you can see jake in the orb that shows the future, and by appearance jakes natural lifespan seems to be just as long as finns.
I thought they Confirmed Jake passes away and when this happens his body expands rapidly because he can't contain his power, So PB puts Jakes Body in the Big Hole in the Planet and Jakes body Fills it in
I like to think he's in his early twenties. Ya know, a few more battle scars, some more stories to tell, maybe having a bit of a self discovery phase and thus his new style, beard and absence of Jake. Although him being the tatoo would be in character for him, i like to think Finn just needed to see what life is like without his brother. They've been together since infancy and part of growing up is becoming independent from your family. Doesn't mean they're on bad terms, just that their roads in life diverged before merging again later on. The tatoo might be a promise of that. Two things i'd like to mention still: The episode Dungeon Train shows Jake being with a very old Finn in a potential future, so he's definetely not dead due to old age. Finns hairstyle is pretty similar to that of his mom. Intentional or not, it's pretty sweet.
Thank you for the appreciation! Many of them take hours of being super picky and unnecessary before I settle for a final version/option (including this one), lmao.
In the original series finale, there was pb's best uncle mug in beth and shermy's house. I like to think that's forshadowing finn and bronwyn's relationship as great uncle and neice. I can definitely see them coming together after Jake's death and bonding over their lose and growth as they grieve
How about this : Jake's in SPACE, Finn has Forget-me-nots because he doesn't want to forget his space brother out in space for space business and he doesn't wear a shirt because he doesn't want people to forget Jake when he comes back from space!
@@ethanschule5524 There is the strange recurring dream of Jake winding up in outer space. It's possible Jake's in space, alive or not.
@@briang.2218 i still think it's a little far fetched to say jake's in space. their is no specific evidence in distant lands so far that points towards this. while it is a possibility, i think their is no reason to think he is in space. i believe the croak dream was just hinting to the underwater thing and nothing else.
I feel like if Bronwyn is Finn’s partner or apprentice, he would not be showering with her in the van with him. I mean… she is way younger than him. She probably got on the van around the time Simon got on. Finn could have been showering when Simon was like “Finn we need your help cmon”, and then Bronwyn was like “I wanna come too”
I believe that Jake made an oath to not fight and spend time with his family. This could explain y his granddaughter decided to follow in his footsteps.
I think Jake is on his own adventure in space to see if he can find others of his species, remember Jake isn't an actual dog. I think he wanted to see his father and the blue flowers represent his species.
I believe he's not just shirtless for that reason, but also because he grew up concealing himself, his identity as a human, and living the opposite now, showing off his human features.

Tbh, that is a much better explanation for the tattoo.
Or maybe hes just hanging with lady
This is a theory I would unquestionably believe if Jake weren't part intergalactic alien. Makes it really hard to gauge his life span because of it, but this is probably my favorite headcanon.
But in the train episode when Finn looked into the future ball Jake seemed to have been aging at the same rate as Finn. I think he matured faster physically but doesn't necessarily age faster.
sorry dude he's dead.

Another theory. In one of the elements parts episode- Cloud. Finn and Jake were doing a therapy session in the clouds giving eachother “haircuts”. Yes buts its not canon
Well um jake died so yeah
Bronwyn looks and dresses like she's a late teen or an early twenty-something. Based on that I would think it's only been a few years, especially given how fast pups are supposed to age
@Jax Gladiator That could be true. She's only half pup, so maybe she ages a little slower than pure pups.
Jake's kids don't look any different once they become adults, all the way to the end (Come Along With Me).

i estimated how old finn was based on how the show progressed his age in real time. finn was 12 when the series started in 2010, and as the series went on in the years finn grew in age as the series grew in age. is been about 2 years since come along with me, where he was 17 when it took place, so i have to guess, based on how much time has progressed in the real world vs the air date of obsidian, i have to assume that finn is in fact in his early 20s. 20-22 to be exact. maybe because im 20 now im biased since i basically grew up with finn when i watched the show!

(btw i was SO excited when that episode came out and i made that connection since adventure time and star trek are 2 of my favorite shows)
TNG strikes again.

I love the idea of bronwyn going on adventures with "uncle" finn in place of her dad since she looked up to jake so much.
I like to believe that hes having a nice picnic with lady rainacorn. And Jake would do anything for his lady.
And If he is alive in obsidian, then I think finn would have at least thought he was dead, considering that tattoo.

ive never seen FMA but the various coincidences binding them together are super fascinating to me. like how edward and finn both have prosthetic right arms, long blonde hair, and have both shared a voice actress in japan
