The Waffle Stitch crochet hat is a cozy modern crochet pattern with loads of squishy texture. The waffle stitch pattern is crocheted using double crochet, front post and back post double crochet stitches. The pattern is crocheted from the top down with a join-as-you-go folded-over ribbed band. Sizing includes baby to adult.

Sorry if I have got this wrong but I was watching up to round 6 and your video says Round 5: 1 fpdc,but your printed instructions says 1 bpdc for the baby/toddler size and for Round 6: says the opposite again. Which is right or am I reading it wrong?

When do you count the first chain as a stitch?
I saw in the waffle stitch when it’s crocheted in rows the chain counts as a stitch.
I had the right stitch count at row 4 but only 44 at row 5 not 54? I did an increase on every FPost
