Very beautifully sung, at a lively clip but with superb clarity and innovative ornament phrasing that is still totally faithful to the text, even in the subtle dynamic modeling of little crescendos and so on. And the lady is so lovely, and the gown in that warm, honey-colored performing space was ardent-looking as a freshly lit candle. There is always something innovative to do with these old, familiar and beloved arias, and this is one of the very fine ones of the season.
