  • Today we are working on this huge area that was formerly part of the main lawn. The area was slowly left on it's own due to it's surface area, but after some changes with the property the homeowners wanted the property boundary cleared.
Starting from two of the points we worked to clear the invasive scotch-broom, himilayan blackberries, canary grass, and other grass. The entire project took roughly 13 hours to complete and it was pure physical labor. The brush clearing and lawn mowing were the easy parts, but collecting all of the debris proved to be quite physically demanding. Nevertheless, we cleared and cleaned up the area and it will eventually become part of the lawn again.

I know that took hours and probably at least two full days to do. I'm sure the people living in the gated community across the street were very pleased to see the property cleaned up. I hope the owners recognize just how hard you worked for them! Maybe you should get an intern to clean as you go. Someone studying landscape design would probably jump at the chance.

I'd rather cut broom than blackberries.

You do great work, but oh, I wish our propensity for huge swathes of sterile, monoculture grass lawns would change. Poor little animals and insects that have nowhere to go anymore. And we wonder why we are so dependent on chemicals. 😢

Would a brush hog have done the same job but faster? What did you use to cut that tall brush? Saw blade?
