Thanks so much. After watching your videos I took the plunge and aerated, scarified, reseeded and top dressed my front lawn. Was nervous for the first 2 weeks that I'd destroyed it....but now it's growing fast, thick and green.

Aeration is great to use in combo with over seeding and along with a fertlizer pre emergent. And some peat moss too to retain moisture or coco coir

Pay the extra and get the SR2000, it's worth it all day long. For pro use a proper drag mat will serve you well too.

Thanks to your videos i was able to aerate, scarify and re-seed my lawn without much second guessing. Very informative and always come back to them. One question, i done this about 2 weekends ago and as you know the we've had rain everyday since, now we've had 2 or 3 dry days in the north of ireland, should i start to water the lawn or will it be fine for a few dry days yet?

Just got a 1 ton bag of lawn sand delivered this morning going to start laying it down Saturday morning wish me luck 🤞

Good tip with the drag mat Robbie. I always think the proper ones are expensive for what they are.
We came up with that last year. It works really well, especially if you are only going to use it once or twice a year

Great guide. Following this will increase the germination rate with the holes and scarifier lines I'm sure. The neighbours will think I'm even nutter now when I take the brush to the lawn! 🤪

Following the channel from NZ, very helpful. Can I ask how you cleared up the debris after scarifying? Do you have any tips to speed up the process? Do I need to brush/rake in the seed before using a drag mat to get good soil contact, or is the drag mat (with some added weight maybe) enough to press the seed onto the soil? Thanks
Bout ye Robbie! I've just levelled the lawn and covered everywhere else with a fine layer of screened topsoil before I over seeded.my problem is I have a lot of weeds starting to break through and was wondering how you would treat this on a freshly sown lawn? Cheers
I wouldn't worry to much about the weeds until next year
Get the grass nice and healthy then treat
Hello Robbie. I followed your advice on overseeding and it has worked fantastically. The weather has been really kind and the new grass seed has taken very well.
I think this weekend or next (2-3 weeks) the lawn will be ready for a cut.
In addition to the overseeded areas with existing grass, there were newly seeded areas that were previously bare soil (eg where a tree stump has been). The new grass here is already 5cm long but very patchy. Can I cut this grass as well or should it be left longer?

Hi Robbie, love your channel. Could you let me know at what point you should feed the lawn during this process. I have a mossy front lawn, so was going to Scarify, apply moss killer, overseed and then feed? Is this correct?
You would be better to put the moss treatment on before you scarify if you are planning on seeding

That depends... I carry on as normal, but expect a lower rate success rate. Most people wait 2 or 3 weeks. It really depends on the lawn though
I have cut very short and then scarified my lawn. I then used iron sulphate to kill the moss that remained. (There was lots). How long should I leave it before overseeding and top dressing? Should I scarify again before this?

We tend just to open it up and put on the kgs for that size of lawn. Not always perfect, but close enough
Otherwise each seed would need it's own calibration
Great tips as usual Robbie, I sowed my lawn 2 months ago with Pro master seed but it has big patches. I sieved the top layer of soil and reseeded water everyday and lightly cover with compost on the same patches 3 weeks ago still no sign life? 🤔

Robbie I have dug out meadow grass looks rough at the minute lol but had it looking so well will live with it like u say the next time lol. I have mixed soil an seed in bucket filled the holes. With the heat we getting in Northern ireland at the minute I don't know should I water alot more just doing mornings night had done yesterday afternoon before work just to get them started?
Hi Mark, usually they don't need watered. Though with no rain forecast 100 percent keep them watered

I purchased a home a couple years ago. The lawn was a real mess. I’ve been working to repair the lawn and eliminate crab grasses and weeds. I do however have a mix of grasses. My front is mainly Zoystra and the rest is I believe Tall Fescue. It’s been mixed in patches in parts. How do I go about reseeding that ? I’ve got some dead patches to repair this spring. I’m in the mid Atlantic in Maryland in the states.

Hey Robbie. I’ve been following the processes in the video and doing my preparations. However after cutting the lawn short I have noticed that I have a lot of speedwell. I know I can’t treat it now with weed killer and seed but I read that iron sulphate can weaken it to enable my new seed to get started. Is this true and how soon after I put down some iron can I seed? Thanks for any help.
Skip the iron and let the seed grow.

Hi Robbie I subbed a while back and really enjoy your videos. I’m also subscribed too garden lawn care guy on RUclips. He sells a shade seed mix on his site but unfortunately they don’t post to the N.Ireland. Can you advise me a good supplier for top quality grass seed and pre fertiliser for a shaded/sunny garden in the North that posts or can be collected. I’m based in Derry/Londonderry 👍 thanks Robbie.

When you say scarify do you mean metal blades or the tines?
Metal blades would be better
Would it work to change the species mix from an existing 100% lolium perennes lawn mix to a' higher quality'' mix with narrow blade ryegrass mix with bentgrass and festucas?
How do they compete with each other?
If it's mostly rye and you start overseeding with bent, you will never see the bent
@@Premier_lawns_official I might need to kill it off, start over. It needs serious levelling and de-stoning anyway. Large humps and dips, builders rubble below, presumably. It's nearly 100 years old at the back. Thank you.
Your best to have a chat with a seed company, I use one called Boston seeds that are very good

I’ve got an 8 week old lawn that sadly got trampled after 6 weeks of beautiful growth and some areas have died off. Is this a good way to repair? I have a sprinkler so can water as needed or is it best to wait until September? Thanks!
If you are in the UK, there is nothing to stop you from fixing it now, instead of waiting until September 👍
To grow grass from seed, these tips will help. I would also encourage you to cover the seed with a light dressing of compost too

Yes you can do that 100 percent 👍
Only problem with that is if it's wet, the seed will stick to the roller, thats what i found anyway....
Do you need to use the brush after seeding or spreading top dressing
Use it for both !
And it has to be a soft brush not a stiff bristled one

Hi there, i have a small garden roughly 8x4 meters, I scarified my lawn and aerated it though I spent hours going over it with a Pitchfork to aerate it I have went the full length of the fork into the lawn 🙈 what's the best way to correct this? I was thinking lightly topsoil over it and reseed? Or leave it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Deeper will definitely help. Just be mindful of any services that may be down there
If you're using the drag mat, does that mean you dont have to brush?
You might have to brush tight areas that the mat doesn't fit in

Some of it will, how much will depend on how it was stored. If you had in a cool dry dark place, that would be best.

I just overseeded my lawn with 3 times the recommended rate. Am I screwed?

@@Premier_lawns_official well I started using a broadcast spreader and it didn't seem like enough. So I started spreading handfulls of seed. I got a little seed happy. Before I knew it, I ended up using 3 times.
It's easy to do in fairness, don't be to hard on yourself. A little bit extra seed won't be the end of the world
If it's really caked on it won't grow, I think you should be fine 🙏🙏🙏
