    Great advice about gear - really helpful as a beginning bike packer. I particularly appreciated your honesty about your IBS and the importance of a reasonable solution for human waste - as you said, nobody talks about this, so I appreciate your honest take on the subject.

    You are a real character. I laughed at some of your statements. Overall I enjoy your content and appreciate the honesty. I have had a Brompton for 12 years, strictly road use though. And yes they are a superb bike. I am after al 80 now. Any keep it up.

    Been a fan of Xeroshoes for a while myself -- I rode Ragbrai in their HFS shoes, but they didn't wick moisture like the pair you showed, and it resulted in gross waterlogged feet by the end. I also have those water-friendly shoes, but the tread pattern catches on my pedals. ...I might have to go hit up their suggestion box for flatter-tread Aqua X Sports.

    • @ibikeunfolded

      The ones I got are great on the trail and not so great walking on the sidewalk. The reason why I got them is because they will dry a little faster than average trail shoes. Thanks for watching👍😁

      @@ibikeunfolded I have looked at some of these online, and most seem to be too large for bikepacking. I'll keep looking around for a small one like yours. Looks like a great knee saver for those of us with aged arthritic knees. Using those biodegradable bags looks like a good idea too. We have some wag bags that we use on float trips, but they need to be packed out, so not so good for bikepacking or backpacking.

    • @ibikeunfolded

      @@ibikeunfolded stupid auto dictation, I meant to say "for" touring, not "four" touring 😵‍💫🥴 I definitely would struggle up hills with that large ring, my knees hurt thinking about it. 😉

    • @dawn_rider
      @dawn_rider 5 месяцев назад

      38T is the minimum for a 130 BCD. At least it's made of 7075-T6 as seen at 1:49 and the hole pattern is symmetrical. 7075-T6 is stonger and harder than standard 6061 chainring alloy , especially if heat treated. Looks like the Litepro crankset is square taper which is perfectly fine , especially for a single front chainring and 9 speeds.
      On the liteprobicycle site it looks like the chainrings are integrated with the chain guard. A 110 BCD crankset would have been better as you can put a 33T on those. Currently I can't find an option on the bikefriday site for cranksets ? The Diamond Llama is not a cheap bike either at > 2000 USD and there seems to be options for many other things.

      @@ibikeunfolded I now have 2 Bike Fridays, a NWT and an All-Packa. My motto is go slow, since I'm an old fart with fragile bones. So far nothing has come loose on my bikes or my body. Looks like you are well prepared to keep the front end nice and tight. I'll be most curious to see how your trip went. I do hike-a-bike fairly often, like anything steep, so you're not alone there. I love these folding bikes, and would buy a Brompton for riding around town if I lived in a flatter area. They don't have low enough gearing for the hills in my neighborhood. I got a 2x9 drive train on my All-Packa and the low gears are great. Best wishes for a wonderful trip. Keep a tight hold on those sunglasses this time!
