Thank you so much! I wasted 5 hours chasing down rabbit trails, trying to figure out what the problem was. I needed the upgrade in order to get InDesign's latest version. All went smoothly and both Mojave and InDesign are now installed. Subscribed.
By the way, this appears to be a common problem. You would *think* that Apple would bother to address it on the download page, but noooo.
Actually Apple put it in to stop you from doing it :)

Unfortunately this solution didn't work for me. I Clchanged the clock settings and made sure the WiFi was off. But the error message kept showing up almost as though nothing had changed. Any ideas? Thanks

Is still giving me same error on MacBook pro early 2015, trying to install Monterey on Sierra
There are great reviews for this and it seemed to have worked for many people. For a minority of us, doing this completely crashed our computer and I'm now at my wits end trying to solve a never ending kernel warning. Just doing my part to give a fair warning.
Changing the time shouldnt do this. Just change the time back and restart. I think maybe there is some other issue with your computer maybe?

still getting the same damaged error when trying to install el capitan on my old 2010 imac. trying to install el capitan to install high sierra. no luck with changing the date and time.
Yes it wont work because its apple silicon not intel chip.

Turn the time back. Shutdown, boot into the USB and install it.

I tried this but nothing is working because I changed my clock: my App Store won't open. Error: "Cannot connect to the App Store". For my browsers they all say they can't create a secure connection because the date and time is wrong. Any suggestions? I'm trying to update High Sierra to Mojave. Thank you so much!
Is your wifi connected? Sounds like its not connected? Anyway Make sure when you set the date you dont go to far back for the version you are installing. Make sense? Dont set the date to before the version of MACOS was released. So Mojave was 24 September 2018 set your date two months after that?
This didn't work for me, it still gave me the message putting it back to October 2017 ( on Monterey )
Thats cause you put in the wrong date mate. General availability: October 25, 2021 for montery

PSA. Download the install from the app store BEFORE back dating your computer. It won't let you into the app store if you have the date incorrect 😢
