I don't see how a separate country, though connected via a somewhat forced union, can be denied the right to independence. Especially if the people want it. Scotland makes so much within its borders. More hydro, more renewable energy, a heap of world renown food stuffs and a booming tourist industry. Scotland could easily be its own country and the people would flourish. Yes, there would be some ups and downs to begin with but it would all be sorted out. Westminster just wants the money Scotland brings to the country, some 60 plus billion that Scotland doesn't even get back half of. Scotland has to pay higher energy bills than England even though it makes heaps of its own, and the unions energy, Scotland has the oil in its waters, scotland has heaps of its archaeology placed in English museums making money for them. And so much more. It's a disgrace. And it makes people see the English in a bad light when it's the fault of just a few, and that's also not fair. Needs sorting out.

laughable! The SNP made the case for a referendum and was given it on the grounds that it was a legitimate question that should be answered. It WAS answered, and now the SNP thinks it can keep asking the question until it gets an answer it likes. NO, that is not how a country works when a regional pressure group loses a vote. It WOULD have been legitimate to ask everyone in the UK to vote on whether Scotland should remain part of the UK or leave; but that decision was given exclusively to the Scots - even though it was a national decision that would impact the whole UK.
SNP - you had your bite at the cherry - in a very very very generous format that strengthened your hand considerably and you still lost. The question is now closed.

Tory 6 MPs down 7 MPs
      Liberal 4 MPs
Labour 1 MP down 6 MPs
The SNP had Indyref2 in their election manifesto.
2021 Scottish parliament election proportional voting system Scottish people voted in 72 MSPs a majority of the Scottish parliament who had Indyref2 in their election manifestos.
The SNP have won the last 11 elections in Scotland.
The Scottish government has a democratic mandate from the Scottish people to hold the Indyref2 vote.
If the 533 English Westminster MPs continue to block the Indyref2 vote then it's a forced union.
Westminster tried that in Ireland and look how that turned out.

Lol you don't get democracy do you? We have elections every couple of years so that people can say what their opinion is now. Saying it is anti-democratic to hold a referendum, especially after the Torries rammed brexit down their throat, is just silly.

@@barriewilliams4526 1) umm, I don't know what country you live in. But most countries have elections every 4-5 years. So yes, we absolutely do have elections every couple of years.
      2) no, it is far more important than an election. And normally I would agree with you. In general, i don't like referendums because they are inevitably flooded with money trying to sway it one way or another, like the russians pushing Pro-Brexit messages to help weaken Europe. But in this case, they had their referendum as prosperous members of the EU. Shortly after their referendum, the Torries rammed brexit down their throat and dragged them out of the EU against their will. Everyone warned the Brexiteers that Brexit risked the Union. They didn't listen. Brexit changed alot of things. Alot of peoples minds changes on alot of issues. They deserve another chance to have a say post Brexit.

@@rtk3543 uh huh. So 62% of Scotland wanted to remain in the EU, and the torries rammed brexit down their throat anyway. All you are doing is proving my point. The large majority of Scotland wanted something. England wanted something different, so they are forced to do what england wants. That is exactly why they want another referendum. You are just making my argument for me.
