This is the last song Paul Gray had a significant involvement with before his passing. Corey originally wasn't sure about publishing it under the slipknot label as it didn't fit their theme. Paul convinced him to do it, and the rest is history. It is easily one of the most significant and emotional slipknot songs now, and every fan of corey, knows how much this means to him. Hence his extreme emotion while singing it, whenever he looks up, he's looking to Paul
Paul argued with Corey for weeks over releasing this. He said it may not fit their style but it felt right.
Interesting fact Corey and Paul wrote the song for Corey's dad because they had a terrible relationship. However, the arguments were due to the context of the song because the lyrics made it seem like the perspective of lovers instead of father and son.
As if I wasn’t emotional enough from this video this comment really sells it. I never knew this and the fact that it was Paul’s last proper contribution to the band and it fit so perfectly 😭💔❤️
And Joey people do not recognize him
@@tripowthehipow5054 no we definitely do. I love Joey he’s my favourite musician of all time. It’s just I heard somewhere ab Paul specifically so i just mentioned that. The band actually planned on scrapping Snuff but Paul insisted it was released so without that specific input from Paul snuff would never have been
'Angels lie to keep control' is still the most powerful line of lyrics ever written to me
"Love is just a camoflage for what resembles rage" hits hard AF as well.
@@juicesghost8501 true but the line I wrote brings me through my every day life
This and Jinjer's line 'Suffering with smile'
"you ran away your all the same" 😥
To me it's "It took the death of hope to let you go"
@@michaelfields849 Best, emotional line ever.
They performed this song live when I saw Slipknot live.. mind you I was in the pit but once this song came on. All of us were arm in arm crying as we screamed these lyrics. It was a moment I will never forget
that must have been such a vulnerable and beautiful memory!
@@AileenSenpai I would suggest listening to Glass by Stone Sour.... Whom Cory Taylor fronts along with Slipknot
The first time they played it live and the tribute is fucking hard to get through
From trashing to kumbaya, then back to trashing?
@@ireallyreallyhategoogle That's the journey that expression through music takes us on my friend.
We metalheads may look intimidating, but our hearts bleed too.
A beautiful and open reaction, thank you 🖤🖤
Agree
Have you been to the skull shaped hill, that is called Golgothas, just outside of Jerusalem? It's known as Calvary, the hill that Jesus was crucified on, to westerners
@@jdaddy1962 no sir, I have not...not yet anyway! I am aware of its history (I've read a lot of texts from both the Jewish and Christian faiths) and find it truly fascinating.
We're just good at hiding it.
@@Ater_Swe thank you for sharing this, I think a lot of us can relate. Bless all grandparents the world over, we forget that they have probably been through a similar experience too and one day we're going to be where they stood. Take care brother 👊🏻
“It took the death of hope to let you go.” Great line
Absolute brilliant
his voice breaking during “i just wish you werent my friend, so i could hurt you in the end” always is what gets me, i can hold it in for the entire song except for that ONE PART
Same brother
@@220g Same
RIGHT?!?! Same here
My favourite part of this song is always 6:25. Corey would normally belt out a long note there, but he knows that this time he just doesn't have it in him, but you hear in the background an audience member ABSOLUTELY NAIL IT.
That guy is the MVP of this song. Killed it solo in the perfect moment to fill in for Corey as he was struggling.
I would suggest checking out Bother by Stone Sour.... Corey Taylor is the lead singer of this band as well, but they're not hard like Slipknot. 😊
Same- I especially love the live version from this same concert in England, the crowd sings the background vocals for him and its electric.
Bother is the soundtrack to my life! An incredible, full of sadness, song. Incredible.
Absolutely
Bother is the next song on this concert
Just stumbled across this channel and came here JUST to mention Stone Sour. Knew a bunch of people would have already since I'm late to the party but. Yes. Absolutely.
I got my older sister into Slipknot THROUGH Stone Sour. She was always like, I'd never listen to them. With the masks. That's not music. This is a song called Brother. Ohhhh I like that. Ok then you would like A LOT of Slipknot songs. Try Vermillion. Opened a huge can of worms. She started listening to more from self titled and Iowa. She absolutely loves them now.
"It took the death of hope, to let you go" always hits me hard.
This made me (a grown men) cry and I am not even slightly ashamed of it
Setting, Voice and Lyrics are Mind Fuel and outstanding
Every time!
Amen brother! I’m right there with you.
Every time, bro. Your not alone, and there is no shame.
You shouldn't be bro, no shame to be had there. Music is meant to evoke emotions ( good music anyways, lol) . Personally I think it takes a bigger person to let themselves be vulnerable at times and actually let your guard down then to bottle it all up. Not trying to rant, but being a guy and having music affect me the same way it's better to hear positive feedback than being called a pussy. Have a good day my friend
@@MrBell1399 the world deserves more people like you mate, thank you :)
When Corey gets choked up on the line "Then I could hurt you in the end" I tear up every time I listen to it. I read his biography and even before the heartache and loss that made him write this song, he had already been through so much. He is an absolute trooper of a performer that puts his very being into what he does.
The lyrics hit hard. And they hit very close to home. Too close.
"I couldn't face a life without your lights
But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight"
This - together with Pearl Jam's "Black" - is pretty much exactly what I've been feeling for the last 10 months.
Painfully beautiful song.
"it took the death of hope to let you go" - that part shreds me heart every time.
I met a guy a little while back who said it took him six months to listen to this song without crying, after he was dumped by his four year long girlfriend. I am on day 30 of a breakup that was 23 years in the making… so I have a long way to go. Much like in the lyrics, she was my one of my best friends since primary school, started dating in high school, started living together in college, for 20 years more. She broke my heart and thanks to this song and their fans, I know I am not alone in it. Much love and keep rocking! 💕 & 🤟
I knew Slipknot was a band when they debuted, but I didn’t listen to them until this song aired on the radio right after my divorce was finalized. The lyrics crushed and saved me, and I instantly dove head first into their whole discography! So glad you picked the acoustic live version for this one!🤘🏻🤘🏻
And the rain will kill us all, throw ourselves against the wall
Corey Taylor was a guy that really made a big step in the "men not talking about their emotions" issue but it was a big step in the right direction because everyone on this earth can relate to that song but for many different reason, wether it’s a friend passing a way, a bad breakup, a toxic relationship, etc.
Absolutely right about the theme of the song. Pain, loss, grief, even fear. Corey Taylor completely opened up in this song, not only was he (being a male and expressing feelings which even today is shot down a lot) but he said openly it was a hard one to do himself. So, the audience held him up by singing with him and that just shows how emotionally powerful Snuff is. Something so many can relate to, that negative, that grief and trying to make it positive by supporting one another. Corey went through hell and the song is about that but the way it was written, so ambiguous that anyone can attach their story to it. That's what makes it so beautiful
Many years of listening to this song and it doesn't get any easier. This song got me through so much and still brings tears to my eyes.
"I only wish you weren't my friend. Then I could hurt you in the end"
That line will always get me from this performance. It's so fucking raw.
😱This is such a good song, it really shows how good his voice is I can't wait for this video!
His voice is incredible 💗💗
@@AileenSenpai you should take a look at a band called Seether.. They're so good.. You could listen to literally any of their songs they're all good.
@@AileenSenpai
If you listen to the first stone sour album you will hear what got him invited to slipknot to begin with, with the exception of the song Bother, the songs on that album all predate Cory joining slipknot, in fact he was initially approached by Shawn, Paul and Joey after a show at the Safari Club on University ave in Des Moines where stone sour was originally scheduled to perform before slipknot but because Corey was going to be late on account of his job at the porn shop slipknot played first with stone sour performing as soon as Corey arrived, which ended up with Corey damaging a mic stand and a stage monitor speaker belonging to slipknot while performing the song Tumult which is the song they closed their set with
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever. Corey Taylor is a legend and his vocals are phenomenal and haunting. I cry every time I listen to it. Really loved your reaction alot. 😊
Vermilion Part 2 I’m telling you! Its acoustic. His voice shines through in that song. Love ur reactions. New Subscriber!
Was gonna say this. Other than Snuff it has always been my favorite song from them.
Snuff and Vermiillion Pt 2 to very welp togather
I actually said the same thing. My 2 favorite slipknot songs. Vermillion pt.2 has always touched my soul
7:31
Yup....know that feeling.
Brings tears to my eyes everytime.
10 years from now listen to this again not for your channel but just for yourself
❤
“I only wish you wernt my friend, and that I could hurt you in the end” hurts me every-time
This version of the song always stirs up so many old emotions
You should check out the acoustic version of song no 3. It's amazing.
There is another live version of him actually breaking down in the middle of his performance... heart wrenching...
I had the privilege of seeing Corey so this in Vegas not long after Paul Gray passed. There was not a dry eye in the room. He lost it for a few seconds, but nothing has ever hit that hard in a metal show before. This song will be played at my memorial service.
God bless Corey and all the other slipknot band members, they’ve been through so much shit it’s so amazing to see them get through all the pain and suffering. They are so powerful and strong.
I sincerely love how genuine your reactions are. His life and his story are so tragic and sad, it's always nice to see when someone else connects with the deeper meaning behind this and other impactful music.
Absolutely beautiful song, especially this acoustic version 😍 . You can literally feel his pain trough this song and I love how he emphasizes words in general, he puts so much emotions in it. For more calm Slipknot song I would recommend Dead Memories but you literally can't go wrong with any of them 😁
I never knew that music can make other people feel as well. I mean like a deep feeling.
I cant really describe it, but music can have an enormous influence to my mood. And on bad days it can be really painful, but on good days its just amazing.
And uhhmmmm... thank you.
I cried...and am not ashamed to admit it! that's what make us...human! love ya Aileen!
Oh and Stone Sour - ZZYX Road . Will be the song played when I pass. It encompasses life perfectly and when it's time to go it isn't a bad thing. You'll understand when you hear it. Corey for president!
Amazing music from Slipknot and you are the relaxing twitch streamer and I appreciate it I need that one 💕
I honestly cry everytime I see the live version. Paul Gray was such a driving force for the band and a very personal friend of Corey Taylor. This was the last song he had an impact on before his sad passing and the pain and love Corey pours into his performances of this song just gets me every time
Beautiful reaction ❤️That’s what music should do,it should make you feel emotion.JUST BEAUTIFUL
Next one, "til we die" live. Now that song is amazing. Joey breaks down while huging pauls overall, breaks every maggots heart, rest in peach paul and joey. Always in a maggots heart
It's so hard to sing for him as it was their bassist's favourite song (rip Paul Gray) and he also convinced him to release it.
I really really love your reaction as it seems so real and genuine.
You also got a very pleasant voice to listen to and analysed it really well.
So yea, you earned yourself a new sub, please keep those reactions coming.
I'm also in love with Corey Taylor, he 's the one man on this earth that could turn me gay :P
R.I.P Paul Gray!!!
This is probably my favorite song by Corey Taylor it hits so close to home I can’t listen to it without crying
"So break yourself against my stones" is one of the most powerful lines I have ever heard.
This song is about a toxic relationship from the one making it toxic. From the problem. It's so brilliant.
This song is all about the lyrics. You can still hear his pain.
I wanna watch the react but every single time I hear this song I cry.
I know what Corey went through. 10 years with someone who abandoned me constantly but I kept letting her back in.
You tell yourself so many things about a person, put so much of yourself into the relationship, and they have no plan to stay.
Oh well… here we go.
I found you through Demolisher from Slaughter to Prevail and it's always nice seeing this perspective for the genre of music as a whole, its a breath of fresh air!
Slipknot definitely has a lot of amazing songs and i'm looking forward to seeing more of your reactions as Corey's vocal range from growls and screams to clean vocals is insanely amazing. From say Stone Sour to Slipknot, he is so talented!
Not sure if you have considered them but i feel like you would enjoy a lot of Avenged Sevenfold songs as well! Some being So Far Away, Afterlife(full studio version), Bat Country, Gunslinger, Beast and the Harlot, Nightmare and A Little Piece of Heaven, keep up the great work Aileen !
Oh please Check Out "bother" at the same Show. It is soooo Epic.
Nothing like a kick in the feels.
Crowd is such a harmony. Imagine them them two lines.
This song is emtional we could feel ur emotions as well Aileen :)
This Whole concert is 🔥!!! Watched it multiple times!
Corey Taylor, Legendary vocalist, he's on the soundtrack of my life
Great video Aileen! Snuff is in my personal Top 3 Songs of all Time together with Linkin Parks „Numb“ and „The Kill“ from 30 seconds to mars. Such amazing pieces of Art and Expressions of deep feelings
always thought this was one of slipknot's greatest songs, hearing it raw and acoustic adds to it tremendously and i love watching reactions to it from time to time to see if others are sharing the same benefits. that being said, this is probably my favorite reaction videos, with soooooo many, songs get paused repeatedly throughout for commentary which takes away from it i think, since most of our communication is done nonverbally through body language anyways. it was subtle, but visible throughout that this song hit like a punch to the gut, which shows it was definitely received while heartedly. well done. reaction purity at it's finest.
London..i was at this show. Broke my heart hearing him sing this. But not long after he did spongebob lol. But his heart and soul was in this.
This is my very 1st Subscription on RUclips and I have the utmost respect for the honesty and real reactions you have to the songs that you review. I'm so glad to find a reactor that is so in tune with the music you choose.
Corey Taylor, imo, has one of the purest voices in rock today. ( Ivan Moody is in the same realm imo ). If you enjoy Corey in this acoustic version of Snuff, you should check out another band he is lead in. It's called Stone Sour. The song I recommend is " Through Glass ". I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thank goodness for RUclips for making music and content more available to us all to appreciate.
Thoroughly enjoy your videos and can't wait to see more into your perspective. ✨💯👋
The heartbeat on the reaction is genius.
A wonderful song, it really touched me. And your channel is great 🖤✨
"if you still care, don't ever let me know." is the most chilling thing to think about.
I absolutely love his acoustic sets! The whole show is on RUclips if you're interested. The whole thing is gold. He even does the SpongeBob theme 😆.
All the feels with this one
6:51 his face when singing this line is the most emotional part of this video imo, you can see his lip quivering and he looks like hes about to cry
I'm glad you chose the live version to react to. I've read comments on other reactions to this version that don't like that the audience is singing along with Corey, but, there's so much more real emotion in this version than there is in the music video.
I recommend listening to the new Motioneless in White song masterpiece similar theme but VERY DIFFERENT style
I’ll be doing this one this week :D
This guy got me through alot with his acoustic solo songs. Hesitate live at wjaf studio or something close to that is some of his best recording in my opinion. Either way slipknot is godly but keep going down the corey taylor acoustic rabbit hole too
Music has always been the catharsis I need to pry my emotions out of me. I'ts taken years for me to not be ashamed of crying. You're truly a beautiful soul, Aileen.
Snuff, Bother (Stone Sour), Circle, Vermilion pt. 2, Imperfect (Stone Sour),... great songs.
One of the greatest experiences seeing this live a couple weeks ago! This, IN THIS RIVER by Black Label society, and Fiction by A7X you could feel emotions in the crowds and you had crowd completely singing along! All of them have a common theme and they are tributes to either members of the bad that passed or a great friend of the band! And the whole crowd knows that!
Loved your reaction!
This song tears me up every time I hear it.
You should react to Porcupine Tree! They're a British prog band, and they have some really cool music!
Great feedback. The choice of words was on point. U seemed so real. Nothing fake whatsoever. Great job
You're gonna cry. This song tears me up, 10 years or more since it came out and oww
To see the opposite side of Corey's range, Spit it Out live from Download is a must ❤️
I like this lady!she knows whats up
Corey's breath control is SPOT ON,as a drummer,I would love to do a brush set with him 🙏🤟🏴
This was the video I discovered you from! ☺️
Also, I want to tell you, every time I am having tough mental health days, I always come back to this video and you always help me get thru the mental health issues ☺️ Your videos save me
Let the tears flow.. I'm a 40 year old man and I'll admit this and gone away by ffdp make me cry every time i hear them.
This song makes me so emotional! Corey is the f**ing man!!! And watching you watching it and get emotional made me cry! Not ashamed at all! This song is so AWESOME!!!
Unique performance, he gave all he got here.... Corey is one of the Best.... If not The Best!
Great another reaction from you, I like very much how you are living the music, not just listening to it... love your reactions and your smile :)
Greetings to all from Bulgaria
"If I can change I hope I never know" most relatable line for me
You're awesome and beautiful dog. Always loved Huskies.
Beautiful reaction.
This always gets me in my feelings, never fails.
What a great reaction and breakdown. Very well said. Thank you!
cool to see a reaction on recommended. I listen to this specific song like every day
Would love to see more reactions from this concert. It’s completely acoustic and raw
Another great reaction keep it up 🖤
This is a great song and a great version. I have to say that the Swedish band SOEN did this as part of their recent live stream and it’s an amazing version. A band well worth checking out.
Also would recommend the following as a vocalist.
King’s X - “we are finding who we are”
3 piece with beatle-sequence 3 part harmonies.
Jellyfish - “ghost at number one”
Beach boys meets queen with harmonies galore.
Happy listening
corey taylor also sang PURPLE RAIN the night PRINCE died its also emotional....he was in concert here in MINNESOTA that night
Lol during thee ending of what I thought was going to be my last relationship, I wore 2 discs with this song on it, balling my eyes out like ah goofball. Lol. Prolly saved me, due to me comming to the realization of the fact that, for him to sing these type of lyrics ,he had to have lost something dear to him as well, and I wasnt thee only one. I realized I wasnt feeling that feeling alone. Anyways onward and upwards right? Lol. Great video. God bless. Chris. Indiana.
If i remember correctly this is one of the few songs Corey himself wrote when he played in slipknot, usually other band members write the lyrics for the band
When this song came out it hit the feels that’s for sure hell it still hits lol great reaction as always and breakdowns 😊🥃
The set this was from is incredible, the whole show is worth a watch! New to the channel, love the reviews!
I remember hearing this the first time and being like, "Finally, someone gets it..."
If I recall correctly, my college roommate was particularly sick of hearing that song come out of my headphones... Truth be told, it probably was one of the songs that helped me as I started my struggle in dealing with my depression and everything...
Even today I choke up when I hear the first chords, and it's funny as some of my friends were completely surprised when I sang this song for them for the first time...
This whole concert is amazing. Do more Stone Sour 🤘🙂
from what i hear sometimes Corey can't even finish the song and the crowd always finishes. beautiful
I bet it’s such an emotional piece :/
If you enjoy Corey’s cleaner vocals then you need to listen to some Stone Sour tunes. Bother, Taciturn, Imperfect, xxyzz road and Through Glass to name a few
5:40 There's one guy that tries singing the backup part and instantly regrets it.
This reminds me of Hands Like Houses - Oceandust...if you don't want to get in your feels they also have some great rockers like No Parallels, Colourblind, A Tale of Outer Suburbia, I Am (most popular)
