I love burgundy! I’m a neutral girl through and through, but burgundy has always been in my rotation, regardless of trends. :)
Yes, it's nice to add a bit of burgundy x
I’m in love with Burgundy, regardless of trends! I don’t know how to wear it in the summer, though.
I love this honest opinion about trends! I am a 72 yr old woman in Florida and I love your style! I even purchased a pair of white linen pants from NAKD that you were wearing in a video and I love them!
So happy to hear that my ideas reach such a wide audience Susan, keep on watching xxx
If a person has a color analysis done (If your a spring, summer, fall, winter) they say true red can be worn by every season! I’m an autumn so I look best in orangey red. ❤
Agreed, I thought red didn’t look good on me until I understood what shades of red I could wear as a winter.
Yes we all have blood !! I’m a bright spring so I look better in a warm tomato red 🍅
I love light blue and it suits my coloring. I also love red but it has to be the right shade. There's a red for everyone, it just depends on the undertone. Burgundy is also lovely and adds a rich touch, especially as an accessory.
Red definitely looks better on me than burgundy.
I don’t know if I can get a hold of
I absolutely love sheer things. Its just that people do not know how to wear them that they hate it, but you can make such nice color combinations with it! Like a pink top + sheer black top over it will create this nice deep burgundy color or blue + sheer black = this dark teal color, absolutely stunning i highly recommend to try. Its not meant to be worn with a black bra, its meant to give a nice layering effect
Yes, good tip thanks
Fair blondes can look amazing in red.
Also I love sheer.
Also I love lace.
All done in the most understated elegant way of course. It can be done.
Thank you so much, Lydia!
The pale blue that you already mentioned in your spring / transitional capsule video has been a great inspiration. Really excited about the jeans and trousers from COS as well. Thank you for sharing all this!
Yes more of these videos. I like the picture inserts too.
I used to be very trendy but now enjoy a classic look ( with a little edge) like you do.. This was a fabulous video with great suggestions. Thank you
So lovely to hear that it is appreciated, thank you x
Absolutely love your channel and get so much great inspiration from you. I too am more classic in my style but still like an edgy feel. Whatever it is I like it classy. Short shorts, well I did that in my early 20’s when I had the legs for them, now I wouldn’t be caught dead in them 😂 And those head to toe tracksuits are late 90’s Soprano vibes. Loved the show not the “fashion” 😂
I think red suits a look of people. Find I get quite a lot of compliments wearing this red.
Oh, that's funny. I love red and it suits me really well. Instead, pale blue is probably the worst colour to wear for me.
I’m with you. I love red and think there’s a shade for everyone. It’s a strong color though, so some may feel it is too overpowering.
What is your color tone? I love both pale blue and red and was under the impression that pale blue flatters every skin tone.
I love pale blue!
Hmm. That's strange. I've been told by several stylist that pale blue flatters any skin tone and hair color.
Agreed. There is a red for everyone, but pale blue doesn’t suit every skin tone. It suits people with cool undertones and lighter features mostly.
Agree 100% with you. Thank you for saying things I feel but never quite realize I do.
Totally agree and love your classy style !
i totally agree with you regarding red. it’s just too much. burgundy, however, is much more wearable and easier to combine with other colours.
Love this Lydia!! And love all of the options you've given for each xx
Super fun and helpful ! Love it ❤ love seeing the avoid trends on others for interest but not on me. This video solidify my gut feel and limit the scope of my shopping baskets which is super handy. Thank you!
Yay! New video! Feeling in a fashion rut at the moment.
Appreciate your thoughts on a wide variety of items! Thanks for this.
Than you for the links and suggestions. Minimal classic style, yes. Mary Jane’s I’ve done them once and will pass this time, along with ballet flats. Like others have said there is a red for everyone and I prefer save burgundy for fall and winter.
I am with you Lydia, I like classic minimal style.
Your channel offers a lot of valuable insights.
Great video Lydia..i feel the same about the trends . Thanks !
I agree totally; all in for more blue!!😍🇨🇦
I agree with all of the items to avoid. Burgundy is one of my favorite colors. I have an oxblood leather handbag and a burgundy sweater. Thanks for sharing your opinions. You have such a classic style.
Thank you for watching x
Love this kind of video so yes, please do more! Love all your videos!
Oh good, my Prada studded clutch is in style. There are some many cute co-ords I see but then the shorts are just sooo short. You’re the only stylist on RUclips I watch. Love your shorts especially
Thank you so much x
Minimal, modern dressing and suiting separates is a style I love! One trend I will never wear is Mary Janes because I always feel like it looks like a little girl and not classic. Thanks Lydia!
Agreed on the Mary Janes
You are very welcome, love the feedback x
@@LydiaJaneTomlinsonI love your style. Classic, minimum with a twist. Big wide legs don't look good on anyone though.
My bunions stick out whenever I try them on, cant wear them! 😅
agree! I'm 44 and it reminds me of being in 4th grade
Yes, I like this content. Thank you.
Thanks for your video. Definitely like this types of videos as sometimes it's hard to navigate all the trends. I learn a lot about modern styling, thanks to you! 😍
I am right with you on the Barbie pink, the short shorts, the sheer/translucent, and red. I do love burgundy as well. Lace looks cheap. Haha! You said the exact same thing right as I finished typing it. This video is SPOT ON as far as all the trends you will be avoiding. I really identify with your style and love it!
I love your concept of dressing!! I do think coloring plays into wardrobe color choices. You look amazing in neutrals. “Deep winter” people with high contrast features, (I think) look striking in the right red. Also, I think jewel tones in quality fabrics can infuse a personal touch into a practical wardrobe. You are my favorite stylist - So classy. You weed through the clothing chaos and put together great outfits! I’m older with a totally different body type but your fashion maths are spot on!
Absolutely agree with you!
Sono daccordissimo con te su tutto. Tu hai un gran gusto!!
I love red and I love burgundy- I will enjoy both ❤
Love the black boots with the white dress. ❤
I love red and blue no shorts shorts for me! Lol great video!
Great video👍 I really like that you don’t just embrace all trends but have a critical view. Please make more videos like this one.
great colour schemes, I like fashion that has spark and is FUN , like the couple i saw wearing an umbillo
Lydia I agreed with you, I'm not in to Red either I'm more of a burgundy. I love your videos pls make more spring / Summer ☀️
Love this type of video! ❤
Ooh studded accessories? My studded Chloé Paraty bag can come out of storage 👍👍👍🥰
Yay!!!
totally agree with most of what's listed. loving pale blue and burgundy much more classy than bright red. x
Love your opinions of fashion ! I tend to to lean towards you !💖
Thanks for the advice so helpful in creating minimal but classic outfits
Red suits everyone, all depends on the shade of it.
Exactly! People stop and hue and don’t consider tone, shade and tint.
Thank you for the incredible content. Your style is exactly what I’ve been dreaming of. I eagerly await each update and watch them as soon as they’re released. I have spent a lot on clothing, yet found it disheartening that so few pieces last for years, a waste of money. I didn’t like shopping online, as clothes often look great on models but not on me. And there are just limited brands that have physical stores in my town. However, following your recommendation has been a game-changer. I have bought a lot based on your advice. I love all of them. Stylish, good quality, and affordable, saving me time and money, thank you. One suggestion, it would be great to include some US brands. I love many of the items you’ve showcased, but unfortunately, some do not ship to the US. Thank you again. Hope you get better and better.
ah Lydia thanks for another video with awesome advice! I love your picks and the trends to let go. I don't like red, I don't vibe with the high energy of it, I haven't worn it in ages even though as a brunette it looks good on me and I will continue to stay off it :) thanks for staying relatable in your style!
I’ve recently noticed the pale blue/soft blue colors in stores. Just the other day I bought the exact light blue tweed in your video from H&M. I sized down for a cleaner fit and I love how elevated it looks.
Hello,
This is the first time that I have watched one of your videos. I am so happy I found you because I live in Florida USA, and all the trends that you are keeping away from, are the ones everyone wears here!!
I have your style and I really struggle to find it here.
Your video made me feel that I do belong somewhere, and that I am not crazy for hating the Miami style 😂
Agree on everything 🦋Thanks for sharing
Totally agree! Thanks 🥰
I agree with everything except the last one. I like sporty. ❤
Love the cabinet in the background! Thanks for your videos! I am trying to be a better dresser!
True red actually suits everyone, at least according to colour theory :)
Besides black - burgundy & light blue are some of my favorite colors to wear (though I’ve always loved red, too!)
thank you for this video, you are great!
I’m with your opinion 100%. But the red I will wear my red sandals from Guess, and will style them with white top and jeans.
Would love you to consider doing a video on white tshirts from different brands.!?
Love everything about you keep it up ❤
Light blue is a dream with the right red…
It would be nice to see you wearing some of these pieces.
Very 90's. Which I love! 😍
I find your opinions in this video well balanced. Probably because I agree with you. Except that at the age of 45 I still love wearing my denim short shorts and think that thanks to years of doing sports I actually suit them. Easy and enjoyable to wear all Summer long. Mind, I wouldn't wear them to any formal occasion.
I’m with you on this. 39 and very thin and muscly legs from sports. I live in the short denim shorts in summer and look great in them. Tailored shorts often look silly on me as they enhance my skinny legs even though I adore them on other people. Must be a certain body type x
Great vlog Lydia I agreed with everything 👏💕Xx
Thank you for picking up on this. Oh dang, I hate studs. I hate this being back in style. What if it's just not your bag? Lydia, can you do a video on how you can just stay true to one's style without falling prey to trends that don't suit one's personality and taste? TY!
All her videos revolve around this! Wear what makes you happy and comfortable!
Ha ha don't worry about the studs, just forget that one!
@@LydiaJaneTomlinsonI can't stand studs either! 😅
But I looove red.
Agree with most of your thoughts Lydia, liked this video. Weirdly i don’t think colours should be trends as they’re so dependent on what suits you. I wear heaps of red, it’s one of my best colours but Bluey reds and burgundies nothing orangey. Can also get on well with pink but again it depends on the shade, I tend to not to wear pale colours apart from white, off white or pale grey but I think pale blue could work on me, may try a Tshirt to dip a toe in? So nice to see someone young not want to jump on the bandwagon of revealing loads of flesh which is what so many young girls seem to feel the need for! Stay true to to your lovely chic style.
You’re a winter colour season for sure lol !!
I agree, colours shouldn't be trends. I have nothing blue in my wardrobe, mostly black... some green, red & purple too. I love red, warm tones for me!
You look so stunning as always. X
100% Agree with you!
Absolutely agree with all that you said.
I love pale blue too.
Also
In lieu of sports wear.... I prefer to wear a nice louge matching set.
blue looks gorgeous with burgundy
So I’ve been on the red trend for a while, nice to know I’m not totally “off trend “ all the time 😁 Some of these are really just personalization. Like studs aren’t my thing but I do have flower hair clips.
I agree with your opinion on short. Short, Short, it just has a trashy look. I don’t know who came up with that! 😂 Love your style, Lydia. Thank you for sharing your style. I got a lot of tips from you as over 50-year-old woman. ❤
So glad to hear that x
Hot pants from the seventies
I disagree with the red. It looks great on majority of people, it only depends on the undertone of the red, whether it’s cool or warm. Burgundy however, can wash out many people, me included.
True
This!
Burgundy and wine look so beautiful to me. Red too but I think harder to pull off a true bold red unless maybe an accessory?
Hi! I love your videos! I'm transitioning my wardrobe from having hundreds of pieces and still not have anything to wear to hopefully more used and agile wardrobe! With your videos this is so much easier ❤ I have an idea for the video... please do viedeo of what you wearing at home / working from home outfits? Im strugelling in this area and I'm curious what would be wear! ❤
Will certainly note this down x
I agree woth you. I cannot wear such shorts either. Bermuda shorts naybe but nothing else. Not for me. I love your examples!
My six year old daughter loves flower clips so I will definitely be avoiding it for myself lol
I loved them at six too!
Thank you.Lydia! RED?!? With the right red anyone can wear this color, but it may not suit everyones lifestyle or look. Ther are many ways to incorporate red big & small; lipstick, shoes, accessories... I think you would look fab in RED! Lace for me too, not interested unless its special. Red is my favorite color but it must be the right red(s) for my skin tone & style. For me it has to be special. Don't wear a lot of red(s) but when I find a special piece i can't resist.
I think red is like any colour; whether it suits you is simply whether you have a warm or cool skin tone and then match that with the red. Black I adore but usually wear a bright silk neckerchief next to my face x
If I'm going to wear pleated trousers at all, they will need to be a drapy, fluid fabric. And not a thick fabric like denim. Otherwise, pleats add bulk at the tummy area.
I love the pale blue color, especially if its a periwinkle shade.
I think transparent clothing looks like a "lady of the evening." LOL, definitely not something I would even consider!
Thanks for the spring update Lydia! ❤
This is what my videos are for, giving ideas to pick and choose from, perfect x
Yes to 90s style hair band, simplicity, oval sunnies like Carolyn Bessett Kennedy. I found the perfect pair of straight jeans at M&S, Autograph straight leg jeans with lyocell, they come in 3 lengths, lighter and mid blue
I love pale blue with denim❤
Red and blue are my jam burgundy I’m trying one sweater ❤❤❤❤❤
I agree w everything!
I’m a winter and have that light blue color. I also have burgundy accessories and love them. I also have a long winter wool coat that I love for winter, especially in the snow around Christmas, but I’ve lost weight and it is way too big. I’m looking for a pattern to cut it down so I can make it into a new coat that will fit.
I love lace and translucent
I really like every single outfit you wear and talk about some of them didn’t suits me because of different body type but I still like them
I love this video, very helpful! Thank you!
Outwear trends from your point of view could be also very interesting video, what do you think🤔
Thanks a lot for some links, especially for jeans !
And you are so pretty and elegant.🥰
Not a fan of burgandy with my coloring but I think it looks fab with pale blue and gray. Maybe some shoes and belt.
I agree with all trends you’re avoiding with exception to red. Red looks great on my skin tone (as does burgundy). Mary Janes are so saturated these days but maybe I will cave because I loved wearing them years ago. I’m always a big fan of 90s minimalistic dressing and suiting! It’s so fresh…as fresh as it always was! Thanks for your video. I really enjoyed it! 👌
Agreed x
I never cared for red. The red lipstick is the maximum red I've ever worn.
Agree with everything said, especially sporty style from head to toe.
An icy blue has always been a favorite in my wardrobe bc it can be worn in any season & always looks crisp & polished. I almost consider it a neutral since it pairs so well with sooo many other colors, and in summer nothing beats white jeans or shorts with a pale blue shirt! Perfection in its simplicity.
Very beautiful.
Hi Lydia, can you please share the light blue shirt you were wearing in this video? LOVE IT
The baggy, loose jeans with the more cropped tops lend to the 90s trend as well. Or maybe that is because what I liked to wear back then as a teen and thought it was trendy.😅
Great video! Will you be doing a short or beach video?
thanks for the video !!!suit trousers , knotted detail and sport look make my heart beat a little bit :) I have a longlsleeve knitted midi dress. Do you think I can wear this staple also in summer or it is only worn in fall/winter season? regards
Pls do a video on interesting ways for layering
This was nice I wish there were more more more pictures
