I wasn’t crazy about them until I learned about roasting them. They’re really good that way.
Its so amazing
Wrapped in bacon is awesome too
I love Brussels and couldn't imagine Christmas without them so it was very interesting to see how they grow and how they are harvested!!
+Evie Goes Wild Thanks Evie ☺
+Evie Goes Wild Thanks Evie ☺
Maddie Moate np Merry Christmas!!
+
They are really good with bacon, onions, and garlic fried or roasted until brown and tender. They are so awesome like that, or you can try a cheese sauce on steamed or roasted ones. I am growing them in my garden for the second year in a row. I will be leaving them in the garden for much longer this year same with my patatos and onions.
Now we know why you're so fat 🤙
Never knew how they grew. It is fascinating
Oh no wonder mine bolted! I planted in the heat of the summer, should have been in the fall perhaps in Ontario Canada
Thankyou
plant them may 1st ontario
I love brussel sprouts. Tried to grow some here in TX, but then we got the big freeze. Only one plant survive, and I see little sprouts on it.
Dont forget the hollandaise sauce ! Thanks for the post. First season growing these. Hope to have a good crop
Im a bit late here, but I just planted 12 brussels sprouts plants in my garden! I cant wait!!!
We LOVE Brussels Sprouts! We roast them in the oven. YUMMMM!! Thanks for teaching kids to love their veggies, Maddie! :D
30k subscribers only? WHAT? This channel is amazing. I can't believe I just now found it. I can't wait for more adventures. I love learning about the quirky things you guys explore!
Gao Ster You haven't seen true food tv.
When I roast them I add strips of red, yellow and or green peppers and garlic. Thanks for the video, very interesting, love your energy!
Mmmmhhhhmm yes
Try steaming your Brussels until they just start to get soft in the middle....then use a set of tongs and cut them in half , top to bottom. Brush the cut face with oil and add garlic and seasoning ... brown the faces in your favorite fry pan. You can sprinkle on some parmesan cheese if you'd like, too)
Love this series Maddie. I like them best with bacon and onions cooked with olive oil.
Via Alton Brown: prep sprouts as you did in video; toss halved sprouts in hot sauté pan, add salt and approx one cup water. Cover and cook for 5 minutes (time it). Remove and they are ready. Delicious.
Maddie! Wonderful video. I didn't know they grew like that.
You said most people over-cook their sprouts, but didn't tell us how long or at what temperature you baked yours! Please tell us!
Greg Rice 180 degrees for 25 mins!
I'm guessing 180°C. 180°F doesn't make much sense, but 350°F does.
Thank you Maddie!
Greg Rice 180°C is approximately 400°F
I like the way she pops around 🤣🤣
Beautiful!! ‘And Brussels too’ 😉
How has no one commented and asked where you got that penguin sweater?! My husband and I are totally going to grow brussel sprouts btw, but now I'm on a search for that sweater!
Still loved in America our family has always said for both cabbage and Brussels sprouts if they smell a bit like farts while cooking they are going to be good. In my opinion In both cases just salt pepper and plain butter Although for cabbage we will add some Libby's corned beef and 1 whole finely chopped onion and slow cook for several hours. then Finally serve with corn bread. In the case of Brussels sprouts grandma taught me to only use enough water to come about 3/4 of the way up the bulbs adding butter/salt/pepper to taste. You then start the boil like an egg cold & all in stirring often to circulate for even cooking and coating of the seasoning. Do that till the leaves take on a bright Kelly green and just soft enough to split with the side of a fork with no crunch (if the green turns duller then they have been on too long).
Corned beef and cabbage is on the cold day list of good hearty foods, while we tend to have Brussels sprouts for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I support every one taking on the tradition of Thanksgiving with or with out religious connotations. If every one world wide took one day to feast with their loved ones, and be thankful for what they have regardless of how much or how little the world would be a significantly better place.
I really thought that brussel sprouts are baby cabbages
They're closely related. A cabbage is one big flower growing on the top of a similar plant.
April H me to ^^
Matthew, a cabbage is not a flower. It is a bunch of leaves of a plant that actually does flower. Broccoli is a flower head.
Yes they taste alike as well
LOL
That's funny, I didn't knew what the actual plant was looking like! Great video! ☺
Right? That was a bit of a shock to me, too. I was looking at the plants wondering where the stalks with the sprouts were. Then she pulls back the leaves and, ta-da!
I love brussles! So I decided to grow them. My plant is huge but I wondered what I should be looking for! Thank you so much for this video! now I'm not so worried LOL
This is great thank you!
Planting some today on my bday 😅

Interesting video. I love brussel sprouts...never knew how they grew.
Holy... the transition from the farm to the kitchen, you’re beautiful🙄😍
my thought exactly
Everyday is a learning day!
Getting smaller ones is better than the larger ones as the smaller ones are a bit sweeter. I prefer to steam them just to tender. Then I slice them in half, coat them with a bit of butter, and sprinkle with Old Bay seasoning. Yum!
They are the best roasted. By far. I roast them with potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, parsnips and turnips. Delicious!
Oh Maddie I love that hat and jacket color combo. So cute.
It is my favorite food and i am moving to Brussels, aciidentally found out they come from there and i cant be more excited
Brussel sprouts are no longer grown In Brussels, they are an unpopular vegetable, along with their relative kale, and europeans frown on them so they are mostly grown in North America which is ok with me
You have some of the best content on RUclips. I'm really hungry now!
If Maddie likes them ,then I like them. Beautiful.
yes i do love brussels sprouts
What's all this with vitamin C content? Doesn't it get destroyed while cooking?
I LOVE BRUSSEL SPROUTS! I enjoy overcooking them until very soft, with butter and salt. Overcooking takes the bitterness out. I DO WANT TO TRY YOUR RECIPE OF ROASTING THEM IN THE OVEN, HOWEVER. What temperature and how long did you have them in the oven? Thank you!
Hi Maddie this is the first time that i've watch your video... it is very interesting.. more videos to come.. 💗
Taking one orange is more practical then. Thank you.
love the penguin jumper
Thank you for the video. I love Brussels sprouts.
I love them so much, steamed, sauteed whatever. I cannot understand how so many people don't like them, it just doesn't make sense....
Great video! I like putting them on the skillet on low instead of the oven cause im lazy haha
Definitely having roasted sprouts for Xmas dinner now!!! Nom nom nom!
@maddie Moate This is very similar to the youtube channel: True Food Tv...any coincidence? :p
Vide0mak3r even the music is similar
Yes it is
Pretty sure she is on kids tv shows with this same style in the UK
I just clicked on this video after watching the 'how does it grow :potato" episode😊😢
I thought it will grow on the top. Amaze
I like the way you explain.. I loved ur video. Keep making more.. Thank you mam.
I LOVE eating Brussels Sprouts. The other people that I live with don’t love me for it! Hahahahaha
How unfortunate that Brussels sprouts, one of the gassiest vegetables in the world, grow in the winter, when it's too cold to open a window. 🤢
Yes Maddie I do
I going to what u do with them looks way way interesting
We grow them in Watsonville CA, But why don't you top it so they could grow bigger, The stock will concentrate to grow wider not taller. But maybe is a different type of stock. Good video
That’s kool I live in ny just plant my one tree
Maddie, I enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing.
Love this!!!! Very seasonal
İf she would dye her hair dark brown, she would look like Kate Middleton ☺️ this video is like the „how does it grow“ series from true food tv
my very first impression of her was how much she looked like Kate
She looks beautiful as is to me.
Exactly
WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT SHE IS KATE MIDLETON, AND THAT IS HER SUMMER JOB, TO MAKE ENDS MEET
Love how does it grow!
Cut in half and pan sear in olive oil until golden brown (and even a little charred). Then a dash of water and pop the lid on to steam for a minute. A little garlic powder and butter then drizzle with lime or lemon juice finish with sea salt....mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Excellent video again!!!
Fantastically explained again!!! 👍
+MercedesAMGsRULE Thank you!
Wow.. Amazing.I learned something new today.
I really like your explaination
I sauté mine in butter 🤷♂️. Add some bacon bits and pepper.
Is this is Whitehall Pa? If so, I am from Pittsburgh Pa and want to grow these

I already bought Brussels sprout seeds from Hong Kong but it hasn't arrived. I really want to plant them in Indonesia
🎶Oh Maddie, you're so fine.🎵 You're so fine👏 🎶you blow my mind, Hey Maddie,👏 Hey Maddie👏🎵
I don't know, but you're the only person with british accent that I can clearly understand... English is my 3rd language though.
Very informative ⭐️
You need some salt and pepper
🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️
Excellent! Teach us EVERYTHING about brussels sprouts so I can wipe them from the face of the earth! MUUAAAHAHAhahahaaaa
Really anxious....
Can the plants regrow sprouts after you pluck them?
WRAP THEM IN BACON AND BAKE THEM, SOOO YUMMY
I had no idea they grew like that.
I love them deep fried with balsamic vinegar
Stir fried with olive oil + ham :P
Exactly how I roast them, you are so lucky!!!
I think i'm in love 🤔
My favorite!
1:47 1:50 the sound effects tho 😂
Loved Your Channel 😍
You should try sous vide cook them
Cut in half, saute in olive oil, lemon juice, sea salt and pistachios.
I steam mine or fry them with olive oil, chopped bacon and parmesan.
I'm not keen on them, but do eat them after I've covered them in salt.
John Galt Haha, I've got to agree with you!
It was quite a surprised to me to see them growing on a fat stem like so many pimples!
That's the only way I eat them. Also the leaves, when roasted individually, taste like kale chips
I’m growing them right now
I love roasted sprouts. Especially when the leaves on the bottom are a little charred. I just wish i didnt fart like a freight train afterwards.
My favorite fruit of all time is promogrenate
I am confused, my brussel sprout survived winter and now here in summer is a giant tall plant with yellow flowers all over...it is taller than me and I am 5'11. I do not see sprouts... Infact the plant looks nothing like this plant except for having the leaves... I am sure it is a brussel as I purchased the seeds from a reputable source...
Great Video! 😊
My favourite veg! Delicious!
I love the English accent in the UK
inspiring!
Is there available brussels sprout in the philippines??
I wana try once in my life👍
Yes I love these little guys and by the way, you know your beautiful as well.
Hm, now I'm gonna have to try eating brussel sprouts again!
