I agree with you whole heartedly, there is not enough like this on u tube. Most of them , like one I could name in particular, are all self, self self, and very little for the learners.😩
I appreciate this video for two reasons. First, you get right into the growing of the crop and don't sit around for 2-3 minutes, mainly discussing how amazing you are (like many other channels do). Second, you actually show every step in the process and don't just talk about it.
I appreciate you showing the starting from seed all the way through harvesting. I am glad to know they grow just fine under that netting and get enough sunlight to grow and produce. Cabbage moths here are terrible!
Your sprouts are beautiful! I'm growing them for the first time this year, so your help in understanding the process and your tips are very much appreciated. Thank you for making and sharing this video!
Hello, years ago I planted brussel sprouts in place in virgin soil with no preparation. This was land that had lain fallow for 20 years and more. The plants grew vigorously to maturity and appeared quite robust. I have always enjoyed brussel sprouts boiled/steamed then buttered and salted. What a meal! In later years I dared to chop and boil the leaves like cabbage or chard. Great fiber, great flavor, especially if boiled with a piece of fatty meat.
Hi Walter. I have never had trouble with my method. It is important to keep the netting sealed and in place. My main pests are Pigeons, Butterflies/Catterpillars and Whitefly. Good luck and keep safe.
I know this video is quite old now, but so useful. First time sprout grower here and I have a few little seedlings growing. Didn't realise they would grow so big, so will be sure to space them out properly.
I love this informative and clear video. I'm hoping to grow lots of veg in pots next year - it has to be pots because the ground is concreted over. Is it possible to grow sprouts in large pots or are they only for planting in the ground? Thanks so much.
Very informative, clear,,,,and straight to the point. For those who want to grow their own Brussel sprouts for the first time should watch this. My Brussel sprouts are around 120days, but the sprouts haven't appeared yet. Hope they grow well in the tropical area. I'm in Indonesia, about 24-33° C in the afternoon. Do you have any idea to prevent the sprouts from prematurely open? Thank you for sharing this video.
Thank you for your appreciation. Unfortunately the sprouts open up when they experience warm weather and long days - they are best grown in the coolness of Autumn like we get here in the uk. Try to keep them cool and out of the sun.
Hi Michael. The soil is naturally very light. I have a compost bin and use the produce from that to dig in a lot of organic matter each year. Keep safe.

I put the seeds in my planters and they germinated very quickly, but that's all they did. They're about one inch tall and with the seed petals. They seem stuck and some are dying. Could it be a bad batch of seeds? How old were your seedlings when you transplanted them?
I'm growing brussel sprouts for the first time in my first veggie graden and I have so many questions! I have to separate them from from the other things I've planted because they aren't good companions. Can I plant them in the same garden separated by nasturtiums and marigolds? It gets really hot here in northern Virginia, USA, will they survive the summer? Or am I better off just planting them in pots?
Hi Jessica. If you are using a pot then it must be at least 12 inch diameter and 12 inch deep. The ideal maximum average temperature is 21 deg C. I would plant them in a shaded area if your climate is too hot. Keep safe.

There are 3 parts to the club root issue. 1) Start the plants in pots in compost so they develop a healthy set of roots before planting in infected soil 2) The lime inhibits the club root fungi 3) The lime aids the Brassica growth
Hi Rachel. Yes they will. My crop this year are growing really well and we've had a lot of days recently where the temperature is above 30 degC. Mine are under a net as shown in the video which does filter the sunlight a little.
I dig them up and either burn them or dispose of them. Dont put them on the compost heap as any fungal infection (club root) will be passed on to next years crop. Keep safe.
