@@latonyahall2086 Since I’m a college student I work every other weekend from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturdays, and 10:00am to 6:00pm on Sunday’s. And I work Fridays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

Do u guys not have like an automated counting machine to count scripts with higher pill quantities? I could not imagine having to manually count 1000 pills lol
Nope!! We count everything manually
But I think the highest I’ve ever counted is 180 lol
I just got a sales assistant job at a pharmacy but they told me eventually I’ll be a technician so I’m trying to get a head start it looks like it requires a lot of patience 😂
It’s really not too bad!! lol. Especially if you like the people you work with! And some pharmacy’s have this machine that counts the pills for them which makes it easier! I’m sure you’ll get great! 🩷

What happens if you make a mess up the customer’s prescription or cause an accident like a spill?
It’s really hard to make a mistake because you have to scan the prescription bottle before you count the pills. That way you’ll always have the right medication and strength. And for spills you just have to pick it up lol.
This makes me feel so better I just starting my fast track course finishing week two and I’m little overwhelmed at times and this makes me feel better

Hi. I’m doing pharmacy tech with pennfoster. To be honest I had been wondering if it’s a good school but I’m going to complete anyway since I’m interested in this profession. How many days do you work per week/month?
Is it a career that helps you balance work and family well?
Since I was in school while I was working I just worked every other weekend. But where I worked was pretty flexible. I think some people worked like 10-2 or 10-5/6. So nothing too terrible. But it probably depends on where you work!! But I hope you really enjoy what you’re doing!!

When you got hired did you have any experience!? I’m hoping I get in at a pharmacy near me but I didn’t go to school or take a class or anything
I had no previous experience! Where I work they train you while you work, and you take this course to get certified
How do you handle calls in languages you don’t understand? I live in an area that has a high volume of Spanish speaking people and I’m worried to take the cert at my local cc if pharmacies might not hire bilingual
Honestly im not sure. There have been patients that have called or come in with strong accents which makes them a little hard to understand. But I just take my time and do my best to get them what they need.

How much of schooling did you have to do? I’m very interested in this career field.
This position didn’t require any schooling. They trained me there and I just had to get my pharmacy tech license. However, I just graduated with a degree in Biology.
As a pharm tech in retail, are you required to clean bathrooms?
No. At least I’ve never cleaned a bathroom lol.
Hey im curious as to how you got your PIC to let you film. My pharmacy allows absolutely so filming or pictures . I’ve been waiting to do this but they keep saying hippa violations

They didn't have an issue of this being a security issue. I do remember watching a cbt that you are not allowed to post anything on social media that has rite aid name.

Thank you ♥️ yes I worked the register in the pharmacy when the patients had to pay for their medication.
My class is confusing me about all the math calculations, how much calculating do you really have to do, or is it mostly computerized calculating?
I only use calculations when I need to figure out the days supply for a patient. For example, if the doctor sends a script that says “Take 2 pills a day for 30 days” I would need to figure out how many pills I need to give the patient. In this case I would need to count out 60 pills for the patient. Other than that I don’t really use calculations.
@@najibrooks thank you!! This class has me trying to calculate and I don't understand any of it, and there's different mathematical formulas for different things and I can't keep them straight, it's scary! Thank you for answering!!
No problem!! I never took an official class. I just did computer modules. The modules did have a few calculations but I think everything is easier once you have actual experience! And sometimes there are way easier ways to calculate things lol!! You just have to think of it in a way that works for you! But I know you’ll get it!! Don’t let it worry you.

Hey, it pays okay. But I’m not sure it pays that good. I know California prices are very high. I make about $17/hr

Nope! I think my goal is to go to meddchool. It was just an easy part time job while I finished school. I only work every other weekend. Working full time May give you enough money to accomplish a move to California.

Ummm I feel like it kinda depends lol. You don’t really have to do much talking if you don’t want to. Personally I loveeeeeee to talk so I had a lot of conversations with the patients at my pharmacy. But if you don’t want to talk much you don’t have to, just be polite.
@najibrooks Thank you! I would like to try not to be so shy so I was wondering if this type of job would help. I don't mind talking I just have a hard time with getting my words out sometimes so I may come across as slow to some but I am willing to try so that I can improve.
You’re welcome!! I understand where you’re coming from. There was a girl I worked with who didn’t talk much either and everyone just respected her boundaries! Maybe once you get warmed to everyone and start seeing the same patients over and over you’ll kinda open up! I wouldn’t worry about it too much I’m sure you’d do an amazing job 🩷

I’m not sure if the requirements are different for abroad. But in Maryland I believe you just need to have completed high school.
This is what I found when I googled it
Candidates must be 18-years or older. Candidates must have earned a high school diploma or GED. Candidates are expected to undergo a criminal background check - which costs around $38.00. Complete either 160 hours of practice or pass a licensed exam.

@Malak1992Malak The only calculations you really have to do is figuring out how many days the patient needs to take the prescription and how many times a day. Which isn’t too hard because the prescriber usually tells you that.
