Perhaps they will be releasing large expansions every couple years, which will then get added to the Portal service. So not a brand new game, just a giant dump of content (few new maps, guns, vehicles, etc...).

If Dice was to release a new battlefield what era would it take place in? If it is just a booster game for 2042 it’s not needed. Dice should just keep 2042’s content consistent for 4-5 years. No need to for another battlefield that soon.
they need to understand why Valve is so successful with Dota and CSGO. Those games are industry staples of how to do a multiplayer game right.

Battlefield 2143. Been waiting since 2142 came out for a sequel and they already teased it with the final battlefield 4 dlcs from years ago.
What COD needs to understand is that releasing a game every year drastically reduces the potential quality of a game. Look at mw 2019. They took an extra year on it and it’s brilliant.

THE most important thing Jack mentioned that DICE needs to concentrate on is Anti-cheat. If the Anti-cheat isn’t strong for both PC and console then all is for nothing.

I don't really know how I feel about a new Battlefield every two years, I always want the sequel to be better than the last game, or atleast the same chaos in a different setting, I believe this game was in development for three years and going down to two years doesn't sound it chief but, I for now I just hope 2042 is dope.
A spin-off Battlefield game not made by DICE can work. Think of like $15-60 spin-offs like BC series, 1943, Heroes, and Hardline. That can work, while main devs continue support of 2042.

To truly sustain a low population of hackers I would imagine that they would need to constantly rework the anti cheat so people can't trick it.

In a way it makes SO much sense to just have one "Battlefield" and instead of investing in developing a new one to use those funds to fix and expand the existing title to newest standards. Really, really exciting news (Especially because of Portal)
The only problem with that is that it is very hard to fix foundational issues when it's one title that evolves. A fresh slate is needed to fix key issues and engine changes.
Like GTA Online that's been going for almost a decade. It's starting to show its age but still impressive how long it can live as long the fundamentals are within good variety and possibilities like creation tools. BF2042 would go for a long while easily since what else can you do? "Better" graphics? Already hyper realistic, wouldn't make much difference anyway. Better mechanics? That sure.

@@nilealhamadany490 Yeah, I'm a campaign person myself, so I would love to have more story-driven campaigns to play through which wouldn't happen if we only had one Battlefield forever. I would like the campaign to be much longer (~10h instead of 4-5h) and with new mechanics introduced in each level for additional replayability and to make every section special. It's a lot to ask but I'd be happy for sure, even if we only get a new one every 4 years
I just want 4-5 year lifespan games. Having new releases is cool, but when you're pumping out so many of those titles, it just gets lost in the tide of other releases. Make your game, build your playerbase, and then support it for several years. And for god's sake, listen to the community. It really does make the experience better.
One of the portal modes perfectly represents how they should view the bf franchise. QUALITY VS QUANTITY
Modern Warfare 2019 almost completely stopped getting new content when Cold War was released and MW was arguably a much better game. I hope that doesn't happen to Battlefield 2042.

With new things always being added, and the portal, and whatever hazard zone is, this game could easily go 3 years minumum. 4 years would be starting to push it. 5 years is too long in my opinion. It all changed when "JackFrags has joined the server".

Long ago, 4 gameplays lived together in balance. Then, everything changed when tanks got Thermal Optic and Active Protection.
Only the JackFrags, master of all 4 gameplays, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he played other stuff as well as Battlefield.
A hundred Battlepacks have passed and we're rediscovered JackFrags. And although JackFrags' Battlefield skills are great, he has alot to learn about BF2042 before he can save any squad. But I believe JackFrags can save BF2042.
BF games are like fine wine... they get better over time. you cant release another title until 2042 has properly aged
We know that we will have epic gameplay and good systems.
What we really need is stable servers, good anti-cheat, steady bug fixes, steady updates with new content. Hopefully they will deliver that, if so, Battlefield will get on another new level.
My read on the info Jack gave is that they willl contantly update, and the "next battlefield" in 2 years time will be essentially a major DLC

i think Portal will, like warzone, be part of every new battlefield. it will be accessable from every new battlefield and always have all the content from all the battlefields.
I imagine it's gonna be every 3-4 months, or maybe 6-8 months as bigger content drops. They said it's going to be a long-term live service, and they have a LOT of content to work with. I long for the day we see remastered Karkand, Tehran Highway, and the Close Quarters maps...

Personally I’d be open to a new game every few years, with portal being supported indefinitely, and become its own independent thing, including content from every new title release, and hopefully every previous release
They hired an ex COD executive, I wouldn’t be surprised if they followed a similar release schedule as COD. They’ll release BF 2042 in 2020, Hazard Zone in 2021, then the next BF (WW1?) in 2022. BF 2042 and the next BF will be standalone games with content integration into Hazard Zone.

i could see Portal breaking off in a "Warzone-esque" fashion, incorporating features from each new entry into the franchise. Ripple Effect could have community polls asking what the community would like to see most from each new title be put into Portal, then the community does what the community does, and goes wild with Portal. Portal im sure would also be updated and have more features and mechanics incorporated so the community could have even more tools at their disposal. Im fucking excited.

Battlefield Portal = Service
Battlefield xxxx = Product
Battlefield Portal, the service, will contain every single Battlefield xxxx, the product.
This means that even when the next year comes and the next Battlefield comes out, the previous Battlefields will not be replaced, but simply coalesced with the rest of the Battlefield products, with Battlefield Portal, the service.
Please upvote this, so Jack can see, as I know for a fact that this is how it will work.

I'm a User Experience (UX) Researcher - There are most definitely accurate ways to measure user sentiment :)
The conquest system has sub flags in each quadrant of the map. If you watch the gameplay, whenever they are capturing a flag, you see a circle with A1 or A2 or C1. There are multiple flags within one quadrant of the map. I’m assuming you need to hold the majority of the flags to take over the quadrant

To me they were saying "while it may seem sensible to launch a game every two years according to today's standards, that's not actually something we want to focus on" as a response to the clear implication from the analyst that a bi-annual launch was "normal". I the issue stems from a poorly punctuated transcript. I think it should read like this: "So that while an every-other-year launch probably makes sense as we think about it today, we're really focused on 365-day engagement in the franchise at a platform level across any device that consumers may want to play on."

I think there's hints on how they still can roll every-other-releases in this year's release already.
I mean they bring 2042. And Hazard Zone. And Portal.
That is not one package. That is 3 different things.
They can very well support Hazard Zone as a separate entity.
And Portal will also just be supported longer, getting fed with content of the coming battlefield releases.
the every-other-year release is just that "All-Out Warfare" part that Battlefield has always been. Portal and Hazard Zone can very well co-exist to such a series.
Seems like since Portal can be browser based to build with, it would make sense for that to stay an independent platform from the games, and churn out games as often as they want while maintaining the content for Portal.

I'd prefer a longer period between games so it doesn't feel like just playing for awhile and moving on to the next one because it's the new shiny.
I hope that hazard zone will be something like escape from tarkov or something based on teamwork, not another sort of battle royale. idk, something different man. I'm sorry to hear that they want to work already in another game because to me a story mode it's important and I don't really know if on today's standards you can deliver a pleasurable experience when you have to update one game and develop another one at the same time. I can only understand it if it will be a 2142 remastered or something but still, I'd like to have a nice single player. we'll see!

It's definitely possible that the next Battlefield after 2042 is something more Campaign driven. Or, if Hazard Zone is some kind of higher competitive game mode, it could also end up being an extended version of that as it's own title in the Battlefield "family".

If they drop support for bf2042 in 2 years, people will be sorely disappointed and honestly makes me slightly hesitant to buy the game or at least it's battlepasses if they're just gonna drop the game in that short amount of time.

I was really hoping BFV was going to be a long term commitment, it would have been so easy to do. There was 5 years of content meticulously documented that just had to be translated into a game and dlc.
