    Being able to make gravy is a great skill to have . It can real stretch a meal while also making it better. I save all my leftover fat from meats (learned that as a country kid) . I like to cook up a batch of roux and then freeze it in chunks so it's ready to go. But this is a very simple, solid recipe that everybody can do and learn from.

    • @michaelotto8696
      @michaelotto8696 2 года назад +2

      x2 on the roux MrByaeger! I do the same thing only it keeps crazy well just in the fridge. As far as toasted flour, in a roux it gets it's toasting in the fat/oil. In this recipe it goes into the butter anyway so I'd think the difference, if any, is marginal.
      Quick tip for those that struggle with celiac and miss gravy. I use an all-purpose gluten free flour to make my roux. It cooks, colors and works every bit as well as "real" flour. Gravies are smoothly viscous without any hint of off flavor. Leftover gravy also keeps within reason and reheats perfectly.

    It looks alright! My Gravy is equal amount of plain flour in Grams to Equal amount of butter in Grams, so 50gms flour 50 gms butter, I do sometimes add fresh thyme and if I add that it hs to be when the butter is cooking so it cooks out the herbs. Then to that i take 2 beef stock cubes and 2 1/2 cups of boiling water and whisk together, then i slowly add to the butter flour mix. I cook the butter first not the flour and I don;t wait for it to go brown i just cook it out enough till the flour taste goes away.

    I make one of my gravies almost identically. I use cream instead of milk and use an immersion blender to incorporate the onions instead of straining them out. I also use either fresh garlic and salt or the garlic salt I make. I have never tried toasting the flour first. I usually brown the flour in the butter. I will have to try toasting the flour next gravy I make.

      Yep same here. The 'proper way' would be to give them a mention. Though, I can't always say where my dishes came from. I have a big thing about 'cute' dishes...can't get enough!. Often day dream about making my own...just dreaming🍜🥣🫕🙂

    When i making a gravy , first i saute the onion in a tiny bit amount of oil so it won't burnt , but i used blender or mincer so the onion still remain , and also i add a little amount of liver spread maybe 1 tsp instead of puting a pepper , same amount but i don't put a whole size of beef cubes , because it tastes salty , i'm using half the size , and it ends up literally perfect taste , especially when you're buying a chicken joy.

    Marami ako di maintindihan Lodi, first, what heat setting did you use to cook the gravy? second, for how long? third, what kind of milk did you use? evap? fresh milk? fourth, can I use onion powder instead of chopped? Salamat!

    • @TastetoShare
      @TastetoShare  3 года назад +9

      Toasting of flour sir is high heat, pero babaan mo ang apoy if mukhang mabilis masunog.. tostahin mo hanggang magbrown..
      You can use.. fresh milk, full cream, evap.
      Cooking of gravy is medium heat only para di masunog ang butter.
      Onion powder will do.. pero iba ang dating pag toasted onions.
