That was awful. My husband and I were watching and my husband was so shocked. So tacky. Make Suzanne and her husband look like cheap asses.
totally agree. They were so tickled with themselves to tell him that he would not get any commission from then. Well, hello ! by law, the man is due the full commission, regardless of how the house sells. Very very tacky and I have ordered products from these people and I won't again. They should have done the right thing and paid the man. And then they agreed to pay him a portion on it... really ??? you owe the whole amount !! you made big bucks on this house and he marketed this house, he got it on his television show, he is your " friend " and this is what you do ??? no no no Josh Flagg should de-friend these cheapskate swindlers. As a REALTOR myself and knowing how hard we work and put our own money in this is wrong on every level. They had a contract with him and this is how he makes his living . She has always talked about how it hurt that Three's Company did her so wrong. She owes him his commission. Doesn't matter who brought the buyer. It was his job to work the deal no matter what. Had he not been delivering they should have had a discussion and he had a chance to correct otherwise this was dirty and I now feel differently about her and am rethinking every story she's ever told. Bet there was more to it every time
So agree… all publicity, being showcases on his Current Top TV Show is wire the Millions in Publicity. If he had advertised the little bunch of houses… an not said her name.. it really would not sell! Totally unsafe all the steps, etc an no hand rails! Needs undating too. yes, she has spoken publicly many times on how the producers of Three's Company wouldn't pay her, and she is now not paying a commission that she legally owes the entire amount of. She was trying to get out of paying any at all, I just could not believe what I was hearing when they said "good for us, not so good for you, because you won't be getting any commission". ah yea... no... that's not how that works. And whoever was the person that put the deal together and you went into escrow without your realtor being involved at all, they also knew better and knew that they were breaking the law by doing this. Someone in my home town actually went to jail for a short period of time and got fired from their job because they swindled someone out of a commission. Suzanne broke the law and then broke it again when she wasn't going to pay commission. Just dirty. Shady. Dirty

I’m currently working w a Realtor on a challenging sale. Long story short she deserves a commission and I would never deny her that payment.
Same greedy couple making enemies over money. 43 years ago on 3s Company... It was written she demanded an increase to match the lead actor, PLUS 10@ of profit, and then didn't show up one day to try to play hardball. They had to set an example to keep the show going. I was disgusted with Suzanne Somers’ treatment of her “friend” Josh Flagg. What a way to reward him for all his hard work and money spent. They were so pleased with themselves with so little concern for him or the right way to do things.

These people could tell everyone Flagg is suing them and watch how fast his client list goes down. Believe me, he's pissed, but he's also caught between a rock and hard place on this one which makes it even worse what her and her husband did. "It will be our way or we will tell everyone you sued us'. Not nice people. I'd be afraid of their referrals. Suzanne might tell them to do the same thing she did to Flagg. This is sad considering Suzanne and her husband can afford to pay him. Greed.
@@KAL829 if Suzanne Somers signed a listing contract with Josh for a certain period of time ie. 90 days then she is 100% obligated to pay any commission from a sale even if he did not find the buyer...unless the she has some sort of exclusion for that particular buyer since they had previously engaged with them.
So Josh has to explain that to them and then if they still dont agree he has the option to sue them for breach of contract.
The way Suzanne Somers and her husband handled that makes them look really bad…. They should be embarrassed. They were purposely shadey and didn’t want to have to give josh his commission, which he is legally entitled to. They only told josh about the buyer once they were in escrow - they could have told the buyer to contact josh as he was their agent at literally any other time before that. But no, they purposely decided not to involve josh and then claimed he wasn’t entitled to his commission. Sometimes the wealthiest people can be the most petty and shady. They realize this was all recorded on TV right? They should be so ashamed of themselves.
This type of behavior from wealthy people doesn’t surprise me at all.

The right thing to do is direct the buyer to the realtor.
Doesn't matter if it comes to you that realtor needs to be informed of everything so they can do the job for you that you've contracted them to do for you. That could be seen as a breach of contract.

I am an event planner and hired Suzanne years ago to perform her cabaret show. Her contract included a meet and greet and signing her latest book. I went to every book store in LA to get 300 copies. All my attendees were in line after her show (which was actually good) and all of a sudden I was told she didn't feel like doing her meet and greet and she bailed. I had to lie and tell 300 angry people she was sick. Annoying...not even an apology. Celebrities.
I think someone felt privileged… the truth comes out every day… but the glee showed made me sick. It’s not $$ the money as Josh is fine BUT he worked fir her! KARMA… u perfect example an I can just bet there are more stories.
Could have sued her for not fulfilling her contract as she was not ill but merely pulled out of the meet and greet

This episode only confirmed what I always thought about Suzanne Somers, which wasn’t much.
Suzanne and her husband really came of looking bad here in their attempt to not pay Josh a justified commission which he is totally entitled too. Josh was so graceful and polished professional in handling this situation and turning it into a positive to keep the client happy. Although they agreed to split it, it amazes me that people who have a lot of money would try to cheat someone else that way. And it was already in escrow and they didn't tell him about it when they were approached with the offer. So, so shady of them. Totally lost respect for Suzanne here. Looks like she and her husband are not to be trusted in a business deal. Wonder if the money they saved with the commission is worth the hit they are going to take on her reputation and image moving forward.
In my previous job it was the rich clients who always balked at the prices and were cranky if they didn't get their way!
She lost my respect, now wait for that karma to strike!

For someone who fought to get equal pay for herself on Three's Company. It was really shady to do this to him! And I don't believe for a second that previous interested buyer just out of the blue, (after the place was listed for almost half what it was when they tried to buy it previously) called and wanted to buy it; not "knowing" it was for sale again! I call BS!

I've watched million dollar listing for years. I felt really bad for Josh. Suzanne S. and hubby, wow, I thought they were totally wrong. They came across as cheap, miserly, mean spirited and just plain nasty. Whew! I was shocked they would treat a "friend" like that. They were more like frenemies. There was one other buyer or seller, years ago, on Million dollar listing New York. He was such as jerk.
He kept calling the agent Ricky Ricardo when the agent kept asking him not to. It is amazing how these reality shows show the true color of the character of people. If I ever was walking the streets of New York and saw that client guy, I would say"oh there's that jerk". Now if I see Suzanne S. on tv, I'll say"oh there's that frenemy".
Josh handled that really well and Somers and her Husband looked bad. Josh only mentioned once that he was legally entitled to a full commission. This comes 1 week after Josh surrendered his entire commission so Tracy could get her dream house. That is well over $400,000 in lost Commissions that Josh has lost. He must believe in Karma because he certainly has loaded up on Karma points.
Very disappointed in SS & AH. They really screwed him. Josef definitely has a big heart. Both sides showed their true colors. I have so much respect for Josh. His grandmother would be so proud of him!

Yea I found my last two buyers on my own using my own advertising - BUT I still paid the agent commission - I would have appreciated an acknowledgment of that; but it was rather met with entitlement and they lost future listings.

Josh was legally owed every single penny of the commission no matter who sold the house...period...it is California Real Estate law. Josh knows what he is doing....he's the winner in all of this....money is not everything...reputation and who you are as a human being & how you are treating those around you is.

First of all they never showed on here that they gave him half of the commission even though he never showed the house to anyone. He had one open house that's all, pretty good money over 100 grand for one open house, plus JOSH said SS has sent him lots of people over the years. I maintain sellers should have to pay towards the marketing in advance to avoid scams like that. The smile on their faces as they were, in my opinion, ripping him off. The minute they said "Good news for us, but not you", and then grinning made me feel uncomfortable. He should've stuck to his guns, and reminded them about the contract they signed. "We're friends right" and "We love you". Really?!! 😡

Just to clarify things, Suzanne Somers did give Josh half of his commission, something like $110,000 if I remember correctly. This only shows a snippet of the conversation, if you watch MDLLA you can watch the full interaction.

And IF you remember the first words out of their mouth is we found a buyer and sold it ourselves. So you won't be getting any commission on the house. Sorry. It went more like that. They never intended for Josh to get ANYTHING out of all the work that he had put into selling their home for them. Believe me they DO NOT love him. I watched the show and only when Josh suggested getting half the commission , did Suzanne and hubby go along with the idea. Prior to that, they were mean and cheap and miserly. And not honest. An honest person would have referred the buyer to their agent. They claim the buyer never heard about the listing. What a bunch of b.s. that is. The buyer heard something somewhere. And then approached them about buying the house. It all just smacks of dishonesty and not honoring a written contract.
Unfortunately a lot of wealthy people are cheap and it appears Suzanne and Alan did Josh “dirty”. Not a fan.

Really? Really? What an ignorant comment! The only reason the commissions are high is because of the high price tag. Average commission in LA is 5 1/2%. A million dollar house is going to bring a lot less than a 25 million dollar house. Plus: An agent has to know how to sell these types of properties. Real Estate agents put their own money and time into these deals and get paid NOTHING until they sell the house. Real estate agents give professional advice on how to sell more quickly, how to market it, etc. Maybe try being a real estate agent yourself and see how easy it is. Work for free for a couple of months and see someone else steal from you. A real lesson will teach you something.

Being someone who has worked on straight commission most of my life, I completely know how Josh feels. They could have put Josh in touch with the buyer. People! Remember this is how we make a living. It does matter who you buy from! Josh is working for free until he sells something. It's not an easy business.

It's a matter of principle. I think a good rule of thumb if one is questioning the right thing to do is to ask themselves, If everyone did this, what would the world be like? That's ok, they will have to learn, by having something come back to them. We are all connected. They clearly haven't learned this yet. I actually have compassion for the them. I think it’s terrible! I started watching during COVID Big Als bar which was fun you would hear a lot of neat story’s from Suzanne and Als years in the entertainment business. They would show a few things that they were selling which was alright. Then they just got so pushy with products so I decided to order a monthly subscription which would come in a dirty yellow and white box most of the time something would be broken in it. They should be ashamed of what they are charging for these products! I assumed the prices were going up to pay for the new house😒 I always heard for years the were not who they led people to believe. I think what and how they treated you Josh is deplorable and don’t let them off the hook! After this I will never watch them again or buy their products!
I never cared for Suzanne Summers and she just verified my reality. Love how she deferred to her husband whenever the conversation got a bit dicey. They have so much money and that they basically cut his commission in half was really bad.
Suzanne is Only worth $100 Million. I'm sure she could afford to give Josh at least $ 100k for all the work he did. So I'm guess they're paying No commissions since they found the buyer?
Exactly!! She has tons of cash and the full commission should have gone to Josh. They did end up giving him half the commission.

I’m a realtor in CA, He has a contract, the contract specifically protects us against this. Thats why he says it’s not gonna fly. Our commissions are due whether we procure the buyer, the seller or another agent during the listing period. He can sue them and get his commission, easy win for him.
Ah, a distant bell goes off--she made huge demands of Three's Company producers (who had just made her a kinda-big star) which they declined to meet--she went on a Poor-Me media blitz and they reduced her role to an occasional phone call, She claimed martyrdom for 3 decades on every talk show she could get on -- these two are not such fun to do business with.

I thought you sign a specific contract w realtor agent that if you sell without them or if agent finds buyer . Agent get commission either way !

I took Real Estate in 2 Different States. Suzanne Summers and her husband Alan had a Contract with Josh. I think Suzanne and hubby BROKE the LAW. Josh can Sue!! Hope he does/or did.

Looking back at this after Somers death I think the crazy medical stress they must of been under with crazy medical bills must have been a huge pressure. It definitely explains their decision a little bit
