Cheers, " Pull towards the front of the helmet ", great advice, a change from Shoeis previous RF helmets. Was trying to work out the difference without stressing it...
About as thorough of a review as one could ask for, excellent. I need a new lid as my 10yr old Icon Airmada has seen better days and this helmet is just screaming at me. I've never dropped that much on a helmet before but at the same time I've always been slightly disappointed with the cheaper ones (this would be my 5th). If more money means better protection and features, so be it.
I can't imagine you being disappointed with this upgrade, unless there is some kind of head shape/fit issue. It is an amazing helmet and I think you are going to love it...if you do pull the trigger. Thanks for the comment, good luck and be safe!
@@cyclegearguide1493 Thanks for the reply but the wife seen the price and shot that idea down like john wick playing duck hunt. I'm looking at the Scorpion R1 air now at half the price. Still enjoyed the review!
I was hoping to pick up a large orange/black Prologue, but it is shown as "Sold Out" everywhere. Does this mean I'm 6 months too late or will Shoei be making more of these that are sold out now.
I wish I knew the answer to that question. You might try and reach out to Shoei and ask them directly. If I hear anything I will pass it on to you. Good luck, be safe!
@@cyclegearguide1493 Thanks for your reply. I did contact the Shoei rep, and got the typical vague answer. He said that color is still active at the factory and to contact a dealer to see if they can order one. It is my experience that all helmet manufacturers make just one run of any helmet and when it's sold out, that's it. To bad, this helmet was sold out so fast. Maybe they will make more but not holding my breath.
What style of rider is this helmet aimed at? Touring, cruiser sports bikers. I have the Shoei GT Air and love it. I'd consider the 1400 but I'd really miss the sun viser
The 1400 will obviously be a great helmet for any type of rider but in my opinion it leans a bit towards the sport/touring riders. Do you have the GT-Air II or the first gen helmet? If you are looking for your next helmet with the 1400 or Air-II as the options I think you should consider your riding style and determine how much the helmets overall weight is a factor. The GT-Air II would be my choice for touring/cruiser style riding simply because of the integration of the coms system and the lengthened sun shield. I would even go so far as to order both and try them on and see which one you prefer and send the other back. Overall, either Shoei will not disappoint. I hope this helps , best of luck and be safe!
@@cyclegearguide1493 hi, I have the Shoei GT Air and not the GT Air ll. I'm a cruiser rider. I will consider the air ll as you suggested. Thank you for getting back to me
@@Thomas-qn4hj I was also looking at the Shoei cruiser, can't remember the full name but it's the one that's a 3/4 helmet with front full face viser and drop down sun viser
Great question!!! So, Shoei had said that they were going to have a transition visor available for the RF1400 by April or May 2021. Unfortunately, there is not one available to purchase yet and with the visor mechanism updates from the previous helmet I would guess that the RF1200 doesn't fit at all. It is quite disappointing that this is not available yet and I will keep an eye out for any news. Thanks again, be safe!
Hey man. Great breakdown. I love the level of detail. I have an RF-1400 in size 3XL, and I really need the optional thicker interior liner. Shoei customer support tells me I have to get it from a dealer, but my local dealers are telling me it's out of stock and not available to order. I haven't found it for sale on the internet, and I get the sense that most web sellers don't understand the part or never added it to their catalog. Do you know who can order this part for me? I think the PN is simply "XXL9". If not, what am I supposed to do? I bought one of the finest, most expensive helmets on the market and I'm feeling like I made a mistake because Shoei is not supporting the product.
Just bought this same helmet, same colors. Its on sale, joined rpm got an extra 15 bucks. Stepped up from a scorpion r420.Photochromatic shield an im going to call it a day. Hope i nvr need it.
I think it would be interesting to see their process on deciding what new designs actually make it to the finished product. Thanks for the comment and be safe!

Why would they not put the chin curtain on this helmet? Or the pin lock? Also on the pin lock it says not to use at night why?
Good review thank you
Thank you!!!

cut outs for glasses?
Should have taken some close up shots of the helmet
Good point! I hate that I didn't, it's a beautiful helmet! I'll make sure I do in the future.
Im sure its better helmet than the previous model. but I think the older designs were better
