Because supposedly the female body "must" be pretty supposedly difformed pockets isn't pretty. This or the possible explanation of having to buy purses. Either way it's sexist still
Scrappy Treasures, this is an awesome video! Did you know that if you put this exact comment with timestamps into your description, the video will have "chapters" along the bottom red line?
Girl! The way you organize the video and the process is so good, so didactic! Congrats! The bar on the top with the timecodes and steps is a great idea and you make the explanations very clear! Loved it, thanks! ^-^
I'm so excited to announce I've made a free step-by-step PDF guide to go along with this video tutorial! mailchi.mp/e5b60a3501c0/scrappytreasures It includes a checklist of materials, a worksheet to calculate pocket size, and each step links you exactly to where I'm going over it in this video. I really hope this makes the sewing process as easy as possible for you.
Thank you for the excellent instructions! Short pockets are so frustrating. Manufacturers and designers are too cheap to use the extra material on something that can't be seen.
Thank you for the hand sewing instructions! So many of these videos require a sewing machine. Stupid womenswear having tiny pockets. I actually bought a pair of jeans only to find the pockets are fake! WTF??
I was browsing again as usual and came across your podcast. I was looking for adding pockets and making them deeper, so far you are the first one that made sense to me without a lot of talk. I hope you are still with RUclips your the best 🤗
This video was so great. If you ever find time to make a tutorial on how to make brand new pockets from faux jean pockets, I would super love that. Your's is the only tutorial I could follow along and was easy enough to understand. I prefer to use a sewing machine to hand-stitching so it would be great to see that option also.
Thank you for this clear and helpful video. I hope a lot of people, especially women, find it and make use of it. I am going to extend the pockets on my new jean skirt today. Two thoughts: (1) you can also use children's washable markers to mark fabric. And (2) all large sewing scissors are called "shears," but as you noted in the superscript, the ones that make a zig-zag cut in the fabric are called, "pinking shears."
Thank you for this video! I used your technique to fix the ripped pocket in my favourite Tramarossa chinos. It was my first attempt at using a thread and a needle but it came out perfectly! Really proud of myself! 😁
Awesome demonstration. I viewed 2 other videos and their biggest fail, they did not teach the actual sewing machine option. By the way, the scissors to prevent fraying are called, "pinking sheets." Thanks for a great video.
I like how you edit this video, its very entertaining even if its a 8mins video the time goes by really fast. The method is very easy and understandable, and you are Gorgeous especially you eyes😉 hey liked subs up! Great video tutorial
Thank you so much. I enlarged all of the pockets on all of my jeans using this tutorial! So nice to be able to fit my hands or my phone in my front pockets!
I wish I could like this again. I keep using it and sharing it with people because it's so clearly explained with no fuss - and fast! And it's cheerful! Thank you! 🥰
Ohmygod yesterday i spent basically a whole day trying to figure out how to machine sew bigger pockets and mY GOD when you just flipped the fabric inside the pocket to sew i had to pause the video because if i had simply figured that out before???? Ohmy im gonna give All my jeans big pockets now, thanks for this!
Thanks, as a baby trans pockets are my biggest annoyance with girl jeans. I'm not yet confident enough to get a purse, but girl jeans just feel so good to wear.
My latest jeans were the worst. Couldn't even hold an AirPods case without ejecting them. Your directions were clear, and now my pockets are perfect! Two more pants to go!
good DIY. i roamed around 3 professional tailors here in Bengluru, for my 3 new shorts whose pockets are not deep enough to hold my samsung mobile. They all (being professional tailors) said nothing can be done on these pockets once they were done. How sad. Now I know how to do it. But one big question remains yet. By whom will it get done?
Little pokets are the worst, even men's pants are following this stupid trend nowdays, with many many pants you can fit a phone but if you sit the phone will start pushing against your pelvis bone and is really unconfortable. Or some pokets are like a triangle with the point facing down, you put the phone and it will rotate and press on your testicle. Different case is the diagonal pokets, you put there the phone and it will fall off when you sit. Pokets need to be long and flat, why is so hard? The paradox is that my pair of dumb 10€ jeans have the best pokets, even better than my expensive ones. This tutorial is a gift.
The color of the thread isn’t really going to matter since no one is going to see it lol (also, this is a great tutorial, when I get the time I’ll definitely try it out [though probably on an older pair first though, since I wouldn’t want to mess up])
I know nothing of mending/ altering clothing so this video is great. I have a “Matrix” jacket three pockets with holes and I always felt they were not big enough. With your guidance I hope to make those pockets much more bearable. Thank You
I knew there had to be a way to do this, I just couldn't figure out how. I just got done increasing the size of the pockets in one of my favorite pairs of jeans. Thank you so much for posting this!
@ scrappy treasures Thank you! I just watched an advertisement about pants made with big pockets ... "On sale" for about $60.00!! I've been sewing for over a year know and knew there was for sure a better way! You did a great job, thanks again, and I just may try this out on a pair of shorts tonight! 😊
You are a life saver! I extended my pockets yesterday and now I feel like the most powerful being in the world! I carry my phone and mask and a million things in my pockets! I went to class this morning and I showed off my giant pockets to all my classmates and they were impressed and super jealous and I told them that they, too, can live the dream!
Your video is exactly what I was looking for. However, instead of using a needle & thread, I will be using my Speedy Stitcher which enables me to lock each stitch same as a sewing machine & includes really strong poly thread. I have been wanting to fix holes in the pocket & increase the "depth" of the hand pockets on both hips in my military pants with just one repair. Please consider making a video that uses a Speedy Stitcher which in my opinion is much more practical for sewing pockets than needle & thread. Or you could simply add to this video & sew a pocket on with Speedy Stitcher while you extol its virtues over needle & thread. Additionally, I'll use Stitch Witchery to hold the pocket add-on in place while I'm sewing instead of pins, safety or otherwise.
Wow! Our pants are so much cheaper and simpler to make than a phone, and yet it limited your phone options?! That just goes to show how much the clothing market needs to change. I'm glad I could help :)
I don’t know why manufacturers even sell jeans without a phone sized pocket. Thankfully, your directions were clever and it’s easy to fix!
AAAGH I JUST SPENT $30 ON PANTS WITH TINY FREAKING POCKETS I HATE THATA HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAGNRNENS
Because supposedly the female body "must" be pretty supposedly difformed pockets isn't pretty. This or the possible explanation of having to buy purses. Either way it's sexist still
I've been wanting to do this for years. Just give me pockets I don't want to buy a f*cking purse!
YES!!!! If you don't give me something, I'll make it myself.
Great demo! I've been sewing for over 50 years, but this was just the information I needed! Real women want useful pockets, not make believe pockets!
Thanks for a very informative video! The "zig-zag" shears are called Pinking shears.

I've lost count of the time I've come back to this tutorial over the years. It's so useful.
I love how you provide solutions to problems I did not even know could be solved! Thanks for this great video! ⭐️

I can't believe this still is a problem in 2022. You're a life saver

The history of women's pockets is crazy, I don't understand why they've become so tiny. They used to be huge!
Thank you for this tutorial!
Thank you for the excellent instructions! Short pockets are so frustrating. Manufacturers and designers are too cheap to use the extra material on something that can't be seen.
I hate bags and purses, I want pockets that men have!
Now ALL of my shallow pant pockets have been transformed! Thank you ❣
Thank you for the hand sewing instructions! So many of these videos require a sewing machine. Stupid womenswear having tiny pockets. I actually bought a pair of jeans only to find the pockets are fake! WTF??
14 people weren't paying attention and sewed together the four layers of the pockets.
Thank you! This the best thing since sliced bread.

Very clear and well done video. This is the one I go back to each time I need to fix pockets. Kudos to you and THANK YOU

Manufatures should make womens clothing with deep pockets like they used to.
Thanks for the great video.
Awesome demonstration. I viewed 2 other videos and their biggest fail, they did not teach the actual sewing machine option. By the way, the scissors to prevent fraying are called, "pinking sheets." Thanks for a great video.
Nice! this was exactly what i was looking for.
Thank you for this fantastic tutorial, I now have pockets that work!

I have some new jeans, and the front pockets barely hold a quarter. I was looking for instructions to do this. Thanks for the great tutorial!
They also don't make men's pockets deep enough. If everything falls out when you are sitting down they are not deep enough.
Thanks, as a baby trans pockets are my biggest annoyance with girl jeans. I'm not yet confident enough to get a purse, but girl jeans just feel so good to wear.
Ahahaa I have a friend who used to feel the same, so you're definitely not alone in that experience. Glad to help just a little bit
@@ScrappyTreasures Thanks the pockets turned out really well.

What kind of cloth did you use for the pockets? And did you have to wash it before hand to keep it from shrinking?
Hm...I don't know. It was a scrap fabric. Any fabric that doesn't stretch will work fine :)
muh hahaha! im gonna extend all of my pants pockets!
YES! I barely use purses and bags anymore
@@ScrappyTreasures thanks! My purse was snatched while I was in a bathroom stall. Been looking for good video like this to get rid of my purse
