- Опубликовано: 10 окт 2018
- Filmed in England and the West Indies during Richards' last season of captaining his country, "Hitting Across The Line" features the big match highlights from 1991's clashes with England and Australia plus magic moments from the player's glittering past, interviews with Richards, Ian Botham, David Gower, Lance Gibbs and Barry Richards, and a special commentary by cricket fanatic, Eric Clapton.
I'm glad that Viv retired when he did !
You see so many people of sports carry on , well past their best , that at times they can be sad to watch !
I grew up watching Viv Richards , and feel very blessed to have watched him play at his brilliant best !
Viv is the King of batting of all times .
Seeing all the old Antigua footage from ‘91 brings back fond memories of a simpler time when I was kid growing up there (and WI were winning, lol).
Gold....rarest clips...lovey compilation & upload of the great king!!!
I have the book, i found it in my dad's bookcase today.
You have to admire Botham for standing by his great friend.
Just enjoy the super positive vibe of the entire video.
Thank you for sharing this. Viv is a legend. ❤️
Viv Was The Most Feard Batsman In His Era! 🇬🇾
Viv was most feared batsman not against westindies bowlers in domestic cricket he was just good
@@garywarner6526 He hardly had a point to proove during local shell shield games..Had those guyzz being in other teams like Aus & Eng..Viv would have pulverized any attack..
@@kunalsingh3121 You didn't mention how many Indian women he focked.
@@garywarner6526didn’t need too. It’s true he struggled particularly against the Barbados teams. But hey, that just shows that WI cricket was in another dimension from the other teams(save Pakistan who is really an Asian West Indian side). The greatest batsman in the history of the modern game struggled against macro, Joel and co.
One runs out of superlatives when describing this phenomenal batsman..........a true genius and a gentleman of note!
Another brilliant upload keep it up
The God of The Guitar pays tribute to the God of Cricket!
My all time favourite cricketer !❤️
Love ❤️ from India ,🙏🙏🙏
I cannot abide Ian Botham's conservative politics and his little England Brexit views BUT his support for Viv and Joel shows he is clearly a good man and a man to whom fair play is natural and to whom racism is an utter anathema. So thanks Ian for your honesty and integrity in supporting your friends against the Somerset 'committee' and Roebuck - And I was there at the Oval for Viv's last test innings - a huge privilege to see that ..
Viv Richards: Legend of Legends!
One day I will visit the islands...Thx Sir Viv..
Another Brilliant Upload Keep It Up
Very lucky to see this clip.
Humble champions... Ali.. Pele... Borg... Viv... Federer... and a few others... Time...ing is everything. Love and respect...
Everything about viv is just superb, the greatest humble batsman played the way he played, if that wasn't then there would have been no viv, just viv a great batsman who accumulated lots of runs, but, that isn't the case he is completely different a unique beautiful batsman ever to play, best wishes, God bless.
God we miss Ritchie Tony amid bill they were so knowledgable
Are you gay.
Playing with solid protective gears refined pitches and playing without helmets protective gears uncured rough uneven pitches its like earth and sky distance. I have played season cricket and I know exactly what it means. No limitations of bouncers and yet walk with that style the swagger, the arrogance, destroy bowlers all around the world anywhere any location any time..that's my and my fathers favorite Sir Viv Richards .The Rolls Royce of Batting....Amazing Phenomenal Awesome Super Duper Mesmerizing. The game changed to the 5th Gear the moment Viv started just walking to the batting crease. it was game on....I am here to destroy you all show me what you have got to the bowlers and opposition. We always prayed that Greenidge or Haynes get out quickly as We enjoyed Viv destroy bowling like T20 about 30-35 years back unbelievable batting hitting cleanly & yet very stylish absolutely brilliant and stunning.
Ferrari Bugatti Rolls-Royce of Batting.
The moment Viv came to bat the game changed to fastest gear open challenge to bowlers I'm going to go after you all especially the best bowler of the team. fearless aggressive. Remember always when you talk discuss records compare with protective gears helmets power bats and so on the latest sophisticated equipment gadgets the limitations of bouncers by bowlers and without all of the above. No current batsmen will dare to do what Richards Gavaskar did play without ⛑️sophisticated helmets protective gears on uncovered highly lethal dangerous uneven pitches . Rolls Royce of Batting fearless dangerous very aggressive animal instincts without helmets protective gears and no limitations of bouncers Huge difference to play with and without protective gears and unlimited bouncers short pitched bowling. The game changed to the topmost gear the moment Viv Richards stepped on to the ground his entry itself was sufficient, his style walk, taking guard said to the opposition I am here now show me what you got and I am here to destroy you all especially the best bowler of your team nowadays batsmen attack identity weak bowlers Viv attacked destroyed every teams most fearsome bowlers. I always wanted Greenidge or Haynes to get out quickly as I loved to watch Viv enter and murder hammer blast destroy the best bowlers of the era
Greatness is hardly Understood 💕
Anyone loving the Windies batting in New Zealand.
When I was a boy there was no other batsman. He let the bowlers know just exactly who was the boss from the very first ball.
The Master Blaster. Simple
And just when they believed it was over, Brian lara arrives.
Best batsman of the world till date
Even though am from India i rate viv the most devastating hitter and never played for records
Big tings!!!
Was way too young to watch Viv.........but from what I've heard and what I've seen, he has to be near the top are at the top
Lara, Viv and Sir Don Bradman
In reverse order. Viv the best since Bradman.
@@graemealexander8804 We are in a bowling era; when Sir Don Bradman played, the bowlers were just getting their feet wet
@@rabianharris1170 Much statistical research on all Test matches has been done & there's not the difference you imagine. Any great player would dominate in a different era. It's only 17 metres you're talking about. Like saying Lillee or Marshall wouldn't dominated nowadays. Would Tendulkar or Kohli survive the mighty West Indies of the mid 70s & 80s???
@@graemealexander8804 No, they would not have survived the 70's and 80's. Kohli is very lucky, so is Tendulkar.
@@rabianharris1170 Agree. So not much difference in any era between era's. Bradman had many obstacles to overcome. Conditions, equipment etc. Makes his achievements even more outstanding.
great great sir veven richer
Is this the Alan Grindley documentary?
Yes it is, just seen the West Vision logo!
On stop stop able Viv Richards
this hardly had any cricket in it ?? Why not speak about his challenges vs the australians and how he ground them into dust for 20 years,
its not a cricket documentary. It's about Viv's last year in cricket which was 1991. Its an accompaniment to his first autobiography . Its a lot more personal than a cricket documentary
HSV cricket Hamburg Germany
Oh why couldn't He be left handed? I suppose with His Gift He could bat left handed blind folded...
Mali Richards is commentating on the current WI vs SL Test series. One of the better commies on the radio, i must admit. Really anylitical
I have never loved a cricketer quite like Sir Viv... Clive Lloyd as well... so why do we dislike ( being very polite) why do we dislike the ossies for example so much...
I get the feeling Viv smashed that Blondie lol
Richards never scored a single test run against the greatest pace attack.
Which was that great team. I hope it's not Namibia
Like wise Sachin didn't score against Indian spinners
But in net Practice - ?
Then wear make him - the BEST
@@rakeshmishra679 Rahul Dravid scored twice as much test runs as Richatrds.
@@philipwilliams1754 O ho
It means Rahul is far greater than Viv - ?
Richards are what the west Indians call a ''yammer''.
@Aton Freckleton --He single handedly destroyed west indies cricket.Look at todays batsmen.
@Aton Freckleton -Viv scored 15 of his eighteen centurie's were against India.
@Aton Freckleton -Gavaskar scored 13 test centurie's against the west Indies, first to 10,000 runs, first to 34 test centurie's.Go watch him slaughter Windies ,bowling including Holding and Marshall on his way to 237 not out.
@Aton Freckleton -The white players from all over the world, started promoting his style w hich is ''yamming'',the young players started to emulate his style.
@Aton Freckleton --9,000 runs today doesn't count.Viv managed less.
Why does Richards need legitimation from Clapton, damn cricket and Clapton, really?
1. Tendulkar
2. Rohit / Gayle
3. Lara
4. Virat
5. Ponting ( C)
6. Kalis
7. Dhoni ( Wk)
8. Warne/ Kumble
9. Murlidharan

11. Ambrose/ Waqur
All time my favorite......

That's your opinion dear ..
What I like I pick..
You can tell me your favorite team..😊
Pity Viv isn't in your list. Easily the best since Bradman. Dennis Lillee & Malcolm Marshall, the game's best ever quicks.
@@scooters47 --John Snow.
Where's Gavaskar.???
Great bats man but he wasn't better than Garfield Sobers
@@johncbny if you say so bt I say Sobers because he had the test record of 365 not out could of go on to make 400 plus first man to hit 6 sixes in one over batting average over 50 could bowl fast spin wicket keep also a very aggressive bat man he was west Indiies greatest cricketer and was a batsman than vivian Richards
Sobers was an all..rounder n Viv was a batsman...Arguably, he was the greatest n most destructive batsman than Sobers..
Is there anyone who can defy that he was just the greatest one day player...
We Indians love Sachin..but I feel Viv was better than Sachin as the way he demolished best spin as well the deadly attack of Lillie n Jeff...No doubt sir, viv is the best...
..
@@floraflavour1760 Sobers was a better batsman than viv in my book first man to hit 6 sixes in one over had the test record for over twenty years 365 not out have a better test average than Richards he also demolish lillie and Thompson with a double century even the great sir Donald bradman said it's the greatest ininngs he ever saw Sobers is the batsman in my book end of story .
Vivian Richards records doesn't show, but remember he played the west Indian, not the runs accumulator, happy go lucky kind, yet made the impact with his unorthodox style of batting and the apposition he faced is testament to his talent that this person was the greatest cricketer ever.
Nah...viv wsd bettrr than sobers as a pure batsman. Viv played in a fully professiknal time. Cricket in the late 70s wss kicked out of the stone age into the modern world. Which mesnt that the playerd were fitter, stronger and faster. In WSC, viv played the fastest bowlers in history and managed the most runs and best average of all the batsmen. Agsinst ghr likes of......Imran, Lillee, Psscoe, Walker, Procter, Garth Le Roux on makeshift pitches which from all reports eere at times dangerous.
