I’m totally straight and white but I remember as a boy watching Sir Vivian walk on tv and thinking it was amazing. I’ve always known there some things are impossible for me - but I rejoice there are men like Sir Vivian Richards.
Viv Richards was our hero in the caribbean. Whenever the announcer said next up to bat...Viv Richards.....the crowd would stand to their feet. My mom was a huge cricket fan and she would get excited when Richards walked out to bat. He cast a huge shadow on West Indies cricket.
Absolutely marvelous! No one has ever had the same swagger. You can see it even he walked into the restaurant in the video. One of the very best of all time.
Two eras in cricket: BV(Before Viv) and AV(After Viv). There wouldn’t be a Lara, Tendulkar, Virat Kohl’s or Ab de Villears if it wasn’t for a batsman like Viv. That demoralizing domination of bowlers didn’t really exist before he came along.
Sir vyvan richards is by far and away the greatest batsman in cricket history, what a player he was. I was at old trafford in 1984 when he hit 189 not out in a one dayer, no restrictions in those days. It was brutal and brilliant just like the great man himself ❤❤❤
He was the “Muhammad Ali” for the entire colonial world. He brought dignity, respect and pride to people of color all over the world. Any kid who saw him knew when Viv steps in,the game had changed
Viv is the man , from his perfect stance to every shot being the most aesthetic of all , cutting , hooking , driving - never saw the ball reach the boundary so quickly . Forget averages , he was the best !
My all time favourite cricketing hero forever❤️my favourite all time batsman always! Sir Viv Love,,,,,from India,🙏,,❤️ Many Great's have come and gone since he retired! But pls dont ever forget that even legends are role models for legends! Sachins idol too ! all hail king viv,❤️🙏🙏🙏
His batting style was 50 Years ahead during his playing days, can bat in 50 Overs & T20 Format in any session he played Test Cricket in those days. The Emperor 🎉❤
First became aware of Sir Viv at the 1975 World Cup for his game-changing fielding exploits. Then it was the famous series against England. I even started following Somerset with them having Ian Botham and Joel Garner as well. 'I.V.A' was the greatest and I still get inspired by watching him in those old matches today.
Every one should see the fastest hundred in a test match against England. He could have chosen any cricket ground in the world for the historic hundred but he chooses his hometown and was very emotional
The best ever…I am not for stats, VIV is warrior like no other …and tremendous courage ….my favourite player of all, time very lucky to have seen him play….I o loved the fact that he used politics to motivate his performance. I loved that. Wish Pakistan had players like him. We had Imran and he is in jail, for for fighting against US. Riaz Pakistan supporter.
My idol. I met him in 1983 at wankhede stadium when the team was doing their workouts. Late Umpire Mamsa my guru for cricket umpiring took us to meet him.
I've witnessed him making centuries a half a dozen times at least in test and one day games and it's burnt into my memory no wonder Stevie dedicated the song master blaster to Viv Richards
Respect to this unique warrior …..used sport to fight against colonialism and racism….to show case his talent and impose his authority ….my favourite action was when he walked and tapped idle,of the pitch after having destroyed disdainfully a bouncer with utter contempt…. I must admit I copied this in club cricket I used SS jumbo to destroy bowlers…..oh ViV I miss your batting. Supporter from Pakistan
Viv Richards was a Batsman of Great Caliber. He was the Real King of Cricket and with an extremely attacking style he was possibly the most destructive Batsman the sport has ever seen.
Sir Viv Richards was not only the BEST batsman but he was different. Great batsman like Gavaskar, Miandad, Chappel, Gooch and even new generation Tendulkar and Lara all go out to fight and accumulate runs. Viv went in to dismiss bowlers from his presence! 😮
37:38 ... that shows you just how good these 2 are as friends..... wow....that hit me when he said that .... hope they remain the best of friends....an example for everybody...
*In the era of paper-thin bats, long boundaries, no bouncer restriction rules, no free hit BS rule, and having to face the likes of Lilly, Thomspon, Headly, Imram and Botham on uncured pitches ..... HE WAS THE KING OF KINGS !!!*
I had the pleasure of seeing this man bat several times, I watched one of the greatest west Indian sides. Sadly I don't think they will ever be that strong again!
The first test series I saw on tv was the West Indies in 76. There's only one answer I give for the best batsman & there's no pause before I say Viv Richards. The rest wore helmets.
the bits abt Brian Close were the most tellingly soft!! imagine what viv was thinking when that pitch was helping Holding's over against Close practically give him hell - all those grunts for inquiries of well being!!! and he was the man that abused viv when he dropped 'that' catch in a county match
The only thing iam sorry about is that he should have had at least 75 test 100s along with the next Master blaster Brian Lara who I think should stopped at 40 test 100s Lara piled on the 100s later in his career, if Viv n Lara was Care about test hundreds, they would passed Tendulkar with ease , Viv never give any bowler a chance to shine , he just have to let u know that iam here , that was Viv , , same with Lara , the bad man of cricket, Viv , he never allowed these European chance to shine , my little island is the David, n u r the Goliath 1 Samuel , 17 that cricket lovely cricket, we missed u Viv n Lara , and all the rest of, may be ,50 other players, or more ,we love u all, u put us on the map of the world ,thank u, and God bless u,, we could not sleep at night, when u were in New Zealand Australia, England, Pakistan n India, now we're sleeping, these new guys send us to bed early ,some times we don't even remember that Cricket is playing, , come on new cricketers we want to set up at night again, just waiting for u to entice us to ,by your performance , just to show u how they treated Viv n his friends ,at summer set , they did everything to stopped wi cricket going forward , using the 90 overs per day, plus one bouncers per over rules, to ware down our bowlers , n we, in the Caribbean sat on our laurels and allowed our cricket to go to The dust, at the joy of England, especially 😊
When his dad caught him playing cricket when he shouldn't he'd better bat his ass off for as long as possible because he didnt want to leave the crease to go home because he knew his ass was gonna get beat if he went home.
I’m totally straight and white but I remember as a boy watching Sir Vivian walk on tv and thinking it was amazing. I’ve always known there some things are impossible for me - but I rejoice there are men like Sir Vivian Richards.

He was more than a batsman, he was an entertainer, a cult-figure, an icon
Agreed 💯 Sir Viv👑👍💪♥️❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Viv Richards is the greatest batsman ever. Fearless, competitive, ruthless, he was a great captain as well. There will NEVER be another Viv Richards
Sir Donald Bradman?
@@starwood213 In a different era
Absolutely marvelous! No one has ever had the same swagger. You can see it even he walked into the restaurant in the video. One of the very best of all time.
There is no one like Viv Richards. What an incredible talent. To me, he is the undisputed King of modern cricket. Love and respect from Pakistan.
V true
The only batsman I have seen who was genuinely fearless.
Zak Crawley
Really!?! What about Roy Fredericks, who was even better than Richards against pace.
Fortunate to see him play at his peak ,no one better much respect of what he accomplished, thanking you Sir Vivian .
Sir vyvan richards is by far and away the greatest batsman in cricket history, what a player he was. I was at old trafford in 1984 when he hit 189 not out in a one dayer, no restrictions in those days. It was brutal and brilliant just like the great man himself ❤❤❤
He's still the undisputed king of cricket ❤
The original master blaster.
He was the “Muhammad Ali” for the entire colonial world. He brought dignity, respect and pride to people of color all over the world. Any kid who saw him knew when Viv steps in,the game had changed
Greatest batsman I think ever to play this game in last 50 years
Viv is the man , from his perfect stance to every shot being the most aesthetic of all , cutting , hooking , driving - never saw the ball reach the boundary so quickly . Forget averages , he was the best !
Never saw Bradman but I don't feel cheated,I saw Richards.

What a great player and more importantly what a great human being. Lots of love and respect for Sir Viv
The greatest cricketer ever. You are right. He is a great human. People were in awe of him .
Just loved to watch him play . Actually all the cricketers from the leeward islandswho played test cricket i still watch any video i get of them.
Amazing talent. I thank god for giving me the opportunity to see this great West Indian. No helmet, protective gear, only his maroon cap. Truly King.
One Love, Legend, Sir Vivian Alexander Richards, Great Man.
He was twenty years ahead of his time. To this day I haven’t seen a better batsmen.
His batting was 50 years ahead during playing days. The Emperor.🎉❤

He is still so fit. I had the privilege of watching him bat vs south India in 1983 at LB Stadium, Hyderabad.
My idol. I met him in 1983 at wankhede stadium when the team was doing their workouts. Late Umpire Mamsa my guru for cricket umpiring took us to meet him.
The swag and his intimidating looks sets the scene
All time Iconic Legendary Cricketer Sir I.V.Richards, simply Superb 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I've witnessed him making centuries a half a dozen times at least in test and one day games and it's burnt into my memory no wonder Stevie dedicated the song master blaster to Viv Richards
Vic’s swagger is the result of his man training. The world needs more man training. Thanks Vic, there can be only one best and you are it.
If he had played T20Is, I wonder what sort of hitting he would have made his own!
Viv is my favarist batsman the original master blaster of cricket
Respect to this unique warrior …..used sport to fight against colonialism and racism….to show case his talent and impose his authority ….my favourite action was when he walked and tapped idle,of the pitch after having destroyed disdainfully a bouncer with utter contempt…. Viv Richards was a Batsman of Great Caliber. He was the Real King of Cricket and with an extremely attacking style he was possibly the most destructive Batsman the sport has ever seen.
No cricketer before or since has had the swagger, style and substance of Viv Richards.. He was not only great but he looked great being great
No batsman on earth...pass or present...can come close ..the G.O.A.T
Sir Viv Richards was not only the BEST batsman but he was different. Great batsman like Gavaskar, Miandad, Chappel, Gooch and even new generation Tendulkar and Lara all go out to fight and accumulate runs. Viv went in to dismiss bowlers from his presence! 😮
Cricket will always proud of you.
Excellent documentary
No one can ever compete Sir Richards
Salute excellence thanks for the memories legend respect the sacrifice
He is still all time no 1 ODI batter. No match. He played Thomson & Lilly like our players played medium pacers.
Handsome and likeable personality
Real legend ❤no batter born yet like Viv Richard 🎉
37:38 ... that shows you just how good these 2 are as friends..... wow....that hit me when he said that .... hope they remain the best of friends....an example for everybody...
My respect for Botham is through the roof . Integrity that is very rare

Against today’s bowlers…….would be a massacre.
My inspiration in cricket.

The Masterblaster!!!.
My two favorite all time.. Viv and Andy
A Straight X Ray from the Heart ,loved the Real Viv
the fact that we beat a team with this man at his peak with a rag tag team in '83 is proof of the existence of the divine
Exactly. That is what we call luck
The first test series I saw on tv was the West Indies in 76. There's only one answer I give for the best batsman & there's no pause before I say Viv Richards. The rest wore helmets.
Greatest ever 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The Greatest batsman ever, end of...
Viv we love you
Viv Richards was one of those players who could dictate the outcome of a game just by doing what he was good at and what he enjoyed doing.
Viv the batter, greatest.
Between few and far.world has produced crickters like Viv Richards.
Sadly his WSC time doesn't count towards his official stats!
what a gentleman
If great batters like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli rate Sir Viv as Goat. There's nothing more to add. ❤
Nice touch to have Viv’s brother so involved in the interview. Different to the usual hero worship stuff he (deservedly) gets in these biographies.
Vivan Richards was a hard rock
Awe inspiring personality❤
Thank you
That Antiguan accent is the closest thing to Jamaican I’ve ever heard. Uncanny.
World did not see any batter like King VIV. I think no bowler would take his wicket even to beat him was a challenge.
He is Aura personified...
The original Universe Boss.
That was a nice tribute to Brian Close.
The original master blaster who instilled fear in the opposition's mind once he entered the ground...
Don't think this can be called the 'modern era' Mr Butcher.I saw Viv with Botham at Somerset in 1970's as a schoolboy and that 50yrs ago😅
Many are better averages, but not having a fearless attitude like viv.
I don't think any will be like viv.
Simple the Master
NO BOWLER DOMINATES VIV ONCE SAID HE REPRESENTEVERY BLACK PERSON WHEN HE SWAGGERS 2 THE WICKET I AWESOME GUY
Goat.
the bits abt Brian Close were the most tellingly soft!! imagine what viv was thinking when that pitch was helping Holding's over against Close practically give him hell - all those grunts for inquiries of well being!!! and he was the man that abused viv when he dropped 'that' catch in a county match

Viv has no equal on the planet Earth 🌎🌎
Read the greatest joke the other day: some guy called Tendulkar the 'master blaster'.😂
Good production. Was a quick 1:19.
Mate pls send the links
Thanks mate
When his dad caught him playing cricket when he shouldn't he'd better bat his ass off for as long as possible because he didnt want to leave the crease to go home because he knew his ass was gonna get beat if he went home.

WoW, you missed the 1973 World Cup final verses India. Not very sporty.
