Viv Richards was our hero in the caribbean. Whenever the announcer said next up to bat...Viv Richards.....the crowd would stand to their feet. My mom was a huge cricket fan and she would get excited when Richards walked out to bat. He cast a huge shadow on West Indies cricket.
He was the “Muhammad Ali” for the entire colonial world. He brought dignity,respect and pride to people of color all over the world. Any kid who saw him knew when Viv steps in,the game had changed
Viv is the man , from his perfect stance to every shot being the most aesthetic of all , cutting , hooking , driving - never saw the ball reach the boundary so quickly . Forget averages , he was the best !
