    I bought this drumset about almost 2 weeks ago and I'm glad I did. I did my research and figured that within my price range, this one was the one to buy. It's my first electronic kit and I have alot of fun with it. In my opinion it gets 4.8 stars out of 5.

    I just bought this drum set 4 days ago. I sold my Hitman Hm-22 and considered this to be my upgrade. I am not a professional, just a casual player trying to learn the trade. What stood out to me was the mesh pads and the drum controller. Hitman makes a nice budget set, don't get me wrong. As for the SD600, it seems like it is a fantastic set for $500 dollars. It looks and plays very well. The mesh feels great, the ride cymbal is nice and big, and the drum controller has some neat features in its current firmware. The bluetooth is strictly for MIDI, not for connecting directly to phone or mp3 player. There are a lot of fun sample kits to explore with. The rims around each tom & snare can be programmed to utilize even more sounds into the kit. I can definitely move around this kit much better than rubber and a bit bigger toms. The kick pad is literally padded, It may take some time to break in. It felt different at first but it's getting better as I break the kit in.
    In terms of room for improvement: 1) Please please please develop this app for Android, i feel like I am missing out on so much not being able to use it. This is one of the reasons I went with Simmons. 2)The current Hi-Hat sounds all sound like broken hi-hats. The snare and toms sound PHENOMENAL but them hi-hats were slightly disappointing. 3) The cymbal triggers. I swear I could hit 32nd notes (or just very fast) on the Hitmans cymbals for 2 straight days and it would register every single note, The Sd600 seems like it does definitely miss some notes even when not hitting at a fast pace (I have the wing nuts pretty tight around the padding as well).
    Overall I'm enjoying the heck out of it. I can't wait to get some double pedals eventually and i'm excited for the learning journey I will have with this set for years to come. I'll leave another review in a couple months when I have accumulated more time behind this one!
    Thank you!

    im looking into getting an electronic kit to stream drum play throughs on twitch as well as youtube. I see that it has bluetooth midi capability, does it also had wired midi capability? is it able to be plugged in to my DAW? or is it entirely bluetooth ?
    ALSO, is the kick drum mesh as well ? ive seen kits with rubber kicks that completely negate the "quiet" aspect of these electronic kits. These are huge deciding factors on wether i purchase this kit or not! thanks in advance for your response!

      It can be plugged via usb and used as a midi controller, however i haven't tried that yet. From what i can tell, it has a problem with cymbals that don't react to impact seemingly at random, but all of the occasions have been observed while playing heavy blastbeats to aux-plugged mp3 player, playing less active parts should be ok, however that's a thing to consider, especially as I'm not the only one who has reported the issue (unfortunately, thomann listing is gone (bought the kit in November of 2021), but there have been several comments describing this problem)

    • @SimmonsDrums
      @SimmonsDrums  3 года назад

      Thanks for your questions. No, you can't switch the ride to a 3-zone. There is only one rim sensor on the SD600, so you can assign it to either rimshot (default) or cross stick, but you can't enable them at the same time. Yes, the bass tower is double pedal compatible.

    • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum Год назад

      I think with the amount of sounds in the brain you could just assign a cross stick to one of the dual zone toms, as well as a ride bell sound to the 2nd tom so it's just below the ride cymbal for a natural move.

    Between the SD600 and the SD1250 (no price issues either way) is the SD1250 really so much better than the SD600. I'm looking to get back into gigging but the SD1250 seems to have more hardware and the SD600 looks (and sounds) ideal for my use. I want to just fold up the kit and leave at the end of the nite and I like that the SD600 does NOT have that extra stand. But is it inferior in some ways to gigging with the 1250? The drum brain looks very different obviously, but REALLY? Would I go wrong fussing over a snare stand? Thanks for your thought
