Rdr 1 online was nothing but good times. I put weeks of actual gameplay hours into it. Gang shootouts, group duels, hunting down players, the whole zombie survival mode, poker, liar’s dice…Oh take me back please.

Red dead 1 online was THE online experience for me, i used to spend complete days just fooling around the world and playing team deathmatch, i had so much fun with this and it makes me so happy that is not dead yet...

I loved the simplicity of red dead 1 multilayer. Must have spent 1000s of hours in it. The game modes were solid, varied, and populated. Combat was crisp and consistent, unlike the mach 5 fast faced Red Dead 2: Online deathmatches we have now.
Red dead 2: online spent too much time trying to populate the free roam with pointless chore missions and neglected the core game modes. Not to mention everything being gated behind money or gold.
RDR 1 online is lucky it wasn’t exposed or that time the trend in RDR 2 didn’t follow
I agree with this if you want any new content in rdo you need 15 goldbars to get a role just so you can make enough money for stuff
I'm having more fun in RDO than original RDR1 multiplayer because of all the shit you *can* do with your friends. Sounds like you're laying the nostalgia on a little too thick for your own good, you need to open your mind more.
@@razztastic Fact of the matter is one I had fun and the other I didn't. All I can try and do is provide introspection as to what made the other fall flat. It's okay for you to feel different, but to simply brush it off as nostalgia is ironically closeminded in itself.
Dude seriously red dead is one of those games where you spend so much time playing it, you lose count of hours.
I will always remember back in 2012 when I played this there would always be that one posse that would hold the fort with the cannons in Mexico, and so many people would try and take the fort from them and it was so much fun just running for your life along other random people and getting your shit blasted into space from cannons lol. Best memories

A memories story: me and my friend were minding our business in black water when a bunch of high levels started to attack us we had a whole battle in black water but we lost so we had to fall back and they followed.
We came up with the idea of running to Fort Mercer and at the time we had to do a gang hideout.
There was a machine gun at the center so once we cleared everything we went on the defense and used that machine gun and we held them back. Some of the best memories from this game

I had the game of the year edition for the ps3 back in the day. I’d always play undead overrun and gang matches. Hold Your Own on Tesoro Azul was one of the best maps the game had to offer. I never dealt with the disappearing head glitch when fighting zombies, but I would sometimes get a bug where they would show up on the mini map but never on the screen. It was different for each player too so they could fighting off zombies while you were taking damage from no one and run around like a headless chicken
The game is in need of a remake before RDR3 is ever considered. I used to play the Gangshootout mode all the time where you start with the multiple player duel. The game was way ahead of its time…

The original Red Dead online is still my favourite online multiplayer game of all time. I only stopped playing when the servers were completely broken and it was simply impossible to play anymore. One of the best things about it was the fact that it was essentially a pure PvP free roam experience. You knew as soon as you logged in there was going to be action. One of the biggest mistakes Rockstar made with RDR2 online was removing the ability to see people on the map regardless of where they were. People complained early on in the BETA about being “griefed”, So rockstar decided to remove map markers for anyone that wasn’t in the immediate vicinity. I understand to a certain degree but a better option would have been to simply have a separate server for it. Similar to how the original RDO had a ‘Hardcore’ free roam option for anyone who wanted a purely ‘free aiming’ experience. The way they removed map markers made the game far less exciting almost immediately for me personally. Rockstar really did drop the ball with RDR2 online. Even to this day the PvP matchmaking still has the same bugs that it had in the beta. Like when you run out of a certain ammo type and from that point onwards, you will ALWAYS respawn after dieing with an empty gun and have to change your ammo type manually and continuously every single time you die from that point onwards. The vast majority of the game modes are variants that nobody wants to play aswell, and the ‘Nominated Series’ that was introduced to fix this issue, allowing you to nominate ONLY the best game modes and map variants, just doesn’t work. Ever. Quite literally. It is completely broken and there isn’t even a hint of it being fixed. These long standing bugs/issues could be fixed overnight with a simple update. The fact they haven’t bothered to fix it tells me everything I need to know about the future of RDR2 online. It’s completely dead. And it’ll stay that way.
It’s a damn shame. So much potential. But thanks for the blast from the past. The original RDR is still my favourite game of all time.

I can't even remember how red dead online works or what you do in it (hence why im watching the video) but I seem to have fond memories of running around on a donkey as seth shooting people with the explosive rifle
I got myself a ps3 like a week ago in a new condition! With a brand new disc version of rdr GOTY Edition, finished the main game today and went to the multiplayer and I was surprised that it was pretty damn packed!
I've never owned a ps3 up until now, I owned a Sega Genesis,ps1, have a ps2, owned a ps4 and now I own a ps5.
Can't believe I skipped the ps3, well now I am entering a roller coaster of awesome games!
I'm just like you, I had all the old consoles until I turned 20 or so and fell out with games. Then I got an X box 360 in 2007 and was blown away but I got divorced and had to lose it. During Covid, I found a near mint PS3 at a Goodwill store for $40. Some young girl only played little big planet on it and gave it away. It's been treasured by me for 3 years now. I played the hell out of RDR and Assassins Creed games especially Black Flag. Makes me want to jump in and ride some stages and play some no limit poker with you sometime.
rdr1 multiplayer was next level. SOOOOO many fun nights on that game...
It’s still a lot of fun imo I just grind gang hideouts and even managed to pass in the legend rank finally after 12 years having a blast with it again atm

God the feeling i got from getting all my guns, throwables and knife gold on this, including that dreadful explosive rifle, was amazing. Pretty sure everything got wiped after the whole mess around 2014ish and beyond with hackers and the multiplayer just not loading at all so unfortunately thats lost to history.
Glitches in this were also extremely prevelant and EXTREMELY fun. The two i loved the most were the invincibility glitch (obvs) from the land grab in Chuparosa, and the flying glitch with throwing knives. They were probably the most fun combination of glitches of any video game ever. Also yea the mods were pretty fucking good. I never knew how to do anything beyond mod in mounts like the Dead or War Horses, but those two alone were pretty fucking fun to ride around on because their speeds were mental.
Still play it to this day easily the better online Experience

There's a bunch of nostalgia in the comments for RDR1's multiplayer, but I think most of it is rose-tinted glasses. I remember the multiplayer being dreadfully boring. The only things there were to do were build up a huge bounty, perform gang hideouts, and hunt animals or other players. It also didn't help that ninety-nine percent of the map is essentially empty. Most players would gather up in Blackwater and kill each other, and Perdido fort always had guys on the cannons fighting the Mexican army. My friends and I stopped playing after a week or two.
There was an awesome glitch to make free roam sessions in Undead Nightmare that brought some life back into the game, but it was patched out almost immediately.
not for me. i got the game on day one. and i had so much fun with it. especially with my friends. it might not be as in depth as gta online. but it was so much fun.

GTA 5 online was also good but only in the beginning when everyone was rich and the hackers and glitchers were there. After Rockstar stole the money back and banned glitches it became shit again.

Man rdr back in the day with the boys, it was the best trolling people free roam voice chat. Always loved making a gangs or build a group with the same colour and fight other gangs in free roam or just fuck with one guy keep on killing them until they quit oh man the memories

A lot of people playing, just yesterday our gang had about 8 players, apart from the rivals!
RDR is pretty impressive. The hand-to-hand combat system is a little dated (similar to the old GTA games) but the shooting is just like GTA V... and the lasso system is totally amazing just like it is in RDR2. Graphics are super impressive for Xbox 360 and PS3 as well... I honestly feel like that era of videogames was the best with top notch graphics, gameplay, online, etc. being such a jump from PS2/Xbox to PS3/Xbox 360. I have a PS3 CFW and although I have a PS4 Pro & a Nintendo Switch, I still play PS3 all the time because it's such a blast (and more affordable when I want to play something new lol).

I wonder if the fire bottle flying glitch still works those were the days when I combined the chuparosa glitch as well by having someone shoot me in the back of the head to become a god then getting max bounty and punching players who thought they can killed me and then going outside the map to outfitters island and then doing the invisible horse glitch in gang shootouts wow so much fun I miss those days and I remember when I got humble when the other players in the lobby United against me and killed me with the explosive rifle to counter the glitch

rdr2 online is underrated and overhated. its a very very good game lots to do from hunting moonshining bounties all that an online story mode too lots of drip to aquire and guns its a fun grind i started playing it about a month or 2 ago with some friends i was level 0 im now level 60 almost underrated ass game

You'll get used to it, that stuff will become like second nature to you. Hard stuff I'd getting the achievements straight up and do like I liked to and see how many duels you can win by disarm. That's a good challenge.
@@Office_De_Receiver_Complaints im onto rdr2 now got rid of my ps3 after having my ps4 for a bit and needed some money so sold the ps3 and games off i finished the regular game before getting rid of it now im on my second play through of rdr2 first ending was high honor might go low this time im in chapter 2 rn and already have a legendary mauser got it from that quest where you go and meet old gun slingers and have to kill 3 of them got 2 revolvers and the mauser also have a clip of me just leaving micah in his cell for a bit becuse screw him

I remember when I was 7 and I was playing rdr1 online, and I was playing in the free mode where you couldn't shoot anyone. So I began trolling for the first time in my life and I kept killing this dudes horse with a tamohawk, and eventually the dude sent me a message that said "fuck you". I laughed so hard I was crying.
lol I remember 2 or 3 years ago when I managed to play rdr1 (It was my first time playing this beautiful game) on the ps4 idk how I did it but the internet should be strong enough to handle it and my internet actually managed to handle it I was so happy and I kept fighting with people everytime I kill someone or someone kills me I just laugh so hard and there was a dude who had his mic open when he killed me he made fun of me and we kept fighting until he left and I was just laughing the whole time the broken physics is what always makes me laugh whenever I kill someone unlike rdr2 online never had fun when I started playing it.

I’m a late bloomer in the Red Dead Series. I played Red Dead 2 first since that’s the prequel to this game and then I jumped onto this a couple of months ago. Since your console is the Xbox, maybe the Xbox players are different than the PS3 players? Yes multiplayer mode is still active. Just a lot griefers and cheaters.
in other words nothings changed for online between both games nothing but cheaters and griefers
There are still a lot of people playing, I play on the ps3, it's currently full, there's a racker, but most aren't.
If you wanna have a peaceful free roam I suggest you try friendly free roam where pvp damage is disabled. I like that option in this game

I only play rdr1 multiplayer and not red dead online. there are a lot of players sometimes full lobbies. Rdr1 actually required skill like call of duty

RDR1 online is far better than RDR2 online
I remember rdr1 multiplayer mode was so simple yet fun because it wasn't grindy and you level up and unlock stuff as you play the game, rockstar really dropped the ball with rdr2 online the game is just filled with bugs, pointless pvp stuff like ability cards, tonics and ammo types, rockstar pissed on it and milked gta online.
