Country Music Hall of Fame Induction, October 2022: Joe Galante, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Keith Whitley

- Longtime Nashville record company executive Joe Galante, incendiary pianist and singer Jerry Lee Lewis, and influential country vocal stylist Keith Whitley officially joined the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, October 16. The trio of country music luminaries “took very different paths to greatness,” said Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Kyle Young, but together they became the Hall of Fame’s 147th, 148th, and 149th members during a star-studded Medallion Ceremony filled with tributes both heartfelt and humorous and musical performances that ranged from acoustic songs to raucous romps that brought the crowd to their feet.
The ceremony’s musical performers included Country Music Hall of Fame members Teddy Gentry and Randy Owen of Alabama, Bill Anderson, Garth Brooks, and Ricky Skaggs, as well as Kenny Chesney, Mickey Guyton, Chris Isaak, Miranda Lambert, the McCrary Sisters, Justin Moses, Molly Tuttle, and Lee Ann Womack, all backed by the Medallion All-Star Band. Country Music Hall of Fame member Bill Anderson and the band led the crowd in the Medallion Ceremony’s traditional finale, a rendition of “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”
As is the longstanding custom, each new Country Music Hall of Fame member selected a fellow member to officially induct them into the Hall of Fame. This year, Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn inducted Galante, Garth Brooks inducted Whitley, and Hank Williams Jr. inducted Lewis.

Keith Whitley's voice just personifies the country sound we all love. RIP and Congratulations Keith.
Finally Keith Whitley is in the CMHOF. Way, way ,way over due. Miss the guy so much. I’m 57 now and as a teen and in my early 20’s Keith was a huge inspiration to me. R.I.P.Keith, Planet earth sure misses you man!

Took 33 years for Keith to get into the Hall after his passing , what a travesty...but glad he's there now.

It is sad that after all these years, Jerry Lee is finally inducted and is not able to attend in person. I am thankful he finally got inducted while still living and able to receive this great honor though.

Hank Williams Jr got to induct Jerry Lee Lewis into both the Rock And Roll and Country Music Hall Of Fames. Quite a feat that I am sure will never happen again.

Dwight Yoakam certainly deserves to be inducted. He is one of the most talented singers and songwriters of our time. I think many would agree that a person with his talent should be given the recognition he definitely deserves.

I had not heard of Galante. Hank Jr. is looking old, and he's gained too much weight. That's sad. Lorie Morgan was looking haggard, as well. Time is not good to most people. Rather sad.

Love the clips. But I do hope someday CMHOF will stop pretending to be a secret society and start showing the entire ceremony like the old days. I can’t for the life of me understand why the public, the fans, the financiers of this entire industry, would be shut out of the pinnacle of country music.

Why are there no women inductees? So one sided affair.
It is a low number but fourteen female performers and one female duet are in the CMHOF.
There will be more female inductees in the future and everybody has their selection that they would like to see inducted. I will say that seeing Loretta Lynn in the hall put a big smile on my face. 🎶
