- Singer Patty Loveless, songwriter Bob McDill, and singer Tanya Tucker officially joined the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, October 22, in a star-studded Medallion Ceremony at the Museum’s @CMATheater. It was an evening filled with once-in-a-lifetime musical performances and heartfelt, and at times tearful, testimonials.
Those presenting musical highlights from the inductees’ careers included Country Music Hall of Fame members Dean Dillon, Vince Gill, Charlie McCoy, and Wynonna Judd. They were joined by Brandi Carlile, Jessi Colter, Charley Crockett, Jamey Johnson, Margo Price, Bob Seger, and Sister Sadie. Country Music Hall of Fame member @WynonnaJudd led the audience in the ceremonial closing song, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”
Following longstanding custom, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, chosen by the inductee, welcomed each new member. Vince Gill inducted Patty Loveless, Don Schlitz inducted Bob McDill, and Brenda Lee and Connie Smith inducted Tanya Tucker.
Filled with soaring musical performances and moving tributes, the Medallion Ceremony showcased the camaraderie and the broad range of talent-from legends to newcomers-that define the country music community.

Tanya deserved this a long time ago. She has been so over looked over the years.
Fun fact. I saw Tanya in Russellville, Arkansas about 7 years ago. She was wearing a metal belt that dangled dangerously low on one side. In this particular song she was going side to side on the stage. She came to my side directly in front of me and tripped and fell. In the blink of an eye she whipped that belt off and tossed it off stage. She didn't miss a note and stayed in step. She was GREAT!

i have honestly been praying for years that Patty Loveless would be inducted. Now, it's finally happened! She is my favorite country music artist. I first discovered her music when I stumbled upon the music video for 'Nothin' But the Wheel' several years ago. I can't even imagine how many times I have listened to that song in addition to all the others. Her voice truly enriches me. And of course, Tanya Tucker is also a music legend. And Bob McDill is clearly a true artist. Congratulations to a wonderful trio of inductees!

She has a great voice. I was an engineer on the Wheeling Jamboree for about 25 years. I mixed for most of these country artists at some point in t heir career. What a great job to have.

Patty Loveless is so deserving to be inducted into the Hall of Fame! I got the privilege of meeting her when I was 15 years old. She was so kind. I started to cry because I was so excited and happy that I was able to meet her that she just wrapped her arms around me and gave me a huge hug. We talked for a little bit and she signed some of my pictures and shirt for me and we took a couple of pictures together. I still treasure them to this day.

If anyone deserves any awards it would be Tanya Tucker! all that she has strive to be she's always stayed humble and genuine which is very rare in the business and all the competition I'm 61 years old and I've been listening to Tanya Tucker since I was 15 years old she is truly one of my favorites and I'm not really a country girl with all the country music and stuff but I think she has one of the most unique voices that will ever grace our ears! Well done Ms. Tucker!! Well done!
I'm 62 and have been a huge fan of Tanya since Delta Dawn came out in 72, over 50 years ago🎉 Have had the pleasure of seeing her live 3 times and looking forward to the next time, Hell yeah, she belongs there🍻🍺🍻

Just saw the comment about Lynn Anderson. I thought she WAS already in but looked it up and I'm shocked. As crazy as I am about Tanya, Lynn should have gone in first. Lynn was already a hit machine when Tanya was starting out in 1972.

She had 50 Top-40 hits, 18 Top-10 hits, and 5 #1 hits - one of which was a Monster hit around the world and the biggest selling by a female country artist for 27 years. So she had as many or more hits as Tanya. I just read her Wikipedia bio - "she's considered one of country music's most significant performers" So, again, who were you talking about? Couldn't have been Lynn.

One can be fixed with some research, the other ... well, that's something that may require treatment. Lynn Anderson was a huge star throughout the 70s decade and did a great deal to expand the popularity of the genre. She was a much bigger star than some who are already in CMHF (Connie Smith had one #1 record and never won any major accolades. Why would she be in, but for her husband's connections?) Dottie West just recently got in. Lynn Anderson was a bigger star. If Tanya hadn't had the recent comeback, per Brandi Carlile, I doubt she would have gotten in this year.
Wynnona needs an induction as a solo artist too.

Patty Loveless might be one of the KINDEST people I've ever met anywhere. While waiting for what seemed like 3 days in line to visit with my favorite tenor at Fan Fair one year, I had a chance to talk to her for a good long time. She hung out and chatted with us "girls" about the guy we were waiting to see and for a while, we were just a bunch of ladies crushing on a guy. She couldn't have been sweeter and would take none of our compliments aimed at her and her talent. Love her, always have and am so thrilled she has finally gotten this well-earned honor.

It's about dang time Tanya was inducted! She was well over a decade over due. I think the HOF, at least for a few years should induct three in each category to clear up some of the backlog.
