Such a haunting and mournful voice - the feeling and raw emotion she puts into every note every song makes her one of the most talented performers to ever grace the stage. A marvelous musician and talented song writer - Emmylou is truly the elder stateswoman of County Music.
Every million years or so, somebody like this comes along. This is the lady that got me to re-think my outlook on country music at about age 14. I will be forever in her debt for that. She opened an entire universe that I might have otherwise missed. What a class act. And it ain't no act! Emmylou Harris is a genius.
It gives me such joy to see Emmylou Harris honored. Just as beautiful and talented, and kind, and gracious as ever.
Do I know you?
I've never heard anyone that just rips across your soul with their voice like she does, or a woman you want to marry 6 bars into a song. Still insanely beautiful at nearly 70 years old . She's a national treasure. Good for her getting into the Hall of Fame.

Emmylou Over 50 years singing to sell out shows , Playing music with the best in the music world and 14 Grammy awards to her name , Emmylou is truly a legend of Country music
She is so influential. Younger people just don't know. Emmylou Harris is an absolute legend.
Oh we KNOW!!!!!! We love her too ❤️
we know, we know so well!! no need for these assumptions :)
Georgous woman and my oh my what a beautiful voice.
She's so humble and absolutely beautiful
Has Emmy Lou ever had a bad hair day always so beautifully coiffed.
I fell in love with her when I was in my teens.
I am still in love with her now!!!
God Bless Emmy Lou!!
So great to see this; she was able to get this honor in front of her Mom, and her daughter. She closed her acceptance speech by using Minnie Pearl's great catch-phrase, which is just right for so many situations, and should remind the fans that Emmy Lou hadn't risen to the top, but had joined a family. Thanks for making and posting this.
Why did it take so long to induct this true legend into the Country Music Hall of Fame ? 2008 ? She's more than just a beautiful voice . A class A live performer . A harmonizer . A trail Blazer . She makes believers believe . An angel on Earth . She reaches out from her chosen genre and touches us all with her music . Love her and she'll love u back .
Emmy Lou, giant talent, beautiful woman.
Emmylou is an angel 😀.
Class act, through and through. Few like her but many try to be. She's the one to emulate, if you have it in you.
A haunting, beautiful voice. I'm so glad I have enjoyed her music for most of my adult life.
Guy Clark is another legend that younger folks should be aware of. Rock & Country are not about how you look, but about great music.
David Scott by
Alot of older people dont know who Guy Clark is. Too bad
Emmylou was musical discovery and revelation for me. A God's gift for the humanity. Love from Kerala, India
Emmylou is so totally awesome.
Long time coming much deserved...A real legend. .
When I heard Pieces of the Sky,I understood every ten cent town I left.So many lessons from a heart and voice, unmatched.
Since I first heard sing Queen of the Silver Dollar, I have been a fan, and that is close to 45 years. LOVE her ALWAYS!
I LOVE YOU Emmylou Harris, I'm Happy for YOU, Tears for Joy.
They should create a Hall of Fame just for Emmylou Harris, and then allow other bands to enter after her. She's that good.
Seeing Charlie Louvin put the medal around her neck is perfect. Part of the Greatest Harmony duo ever gracing the Greatest Harmonizer ever.
When I depart this mortal coil, when I step lightly from the bus, I want the last music I hear to be Luxury Liner. Since 1977 that album has informed my life, followed me through all that I have done. Though we have never met Emmylou, I have known you since then.
After Parsons died, Linda Ronstadt invited Emmylou to sing with her at the Roxy in LA, then took Emmylou to New York to sing with her on “I Can’t Help It (If I Still Love You)” on Ms. Ronstadt's album “Heart Like A Wheel” (which when released in 1974, was, of course, a smash hit). Emmylou credits that exposure to helping her get her first contract. And that, folks, is what friends are for.
linda took her to her home and to capitol records .they.must've forgot when are they coming to nominate linda
I Love Emmylou... since I first heard her on Country Club BBC radio 2 around 1975 and immediately bought the first of her many albums Luxury Liner. Been my constant musical companion since then.
One of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life.
I think I just fell in love with Emmylou.
Gram would be SO PROUD OF YOU!
He is...
These people are all Family. and they have down through many many
years have worked so hard to be the best they can be. Emmylou Harris
has had her share of "challenges". the Best of the cream rises to the top,
and Emmylou is certainly of the best Country SINGERS OF ALL TIME!!
Challenges in the music business?
I'm glad to hear this. This is a wonderful video too. It gave me goosebumps. I've been a big fan since 1973. I was lucky to see her on her first tour.
The most beautiful voice I have ever heard in my life!!
I met Emmylou for a song played on the radio in 1978 and I was impressed with that voice that seemed to come from an angel, so perfect ... From then on I started looking for his songs, which was very difficult in Brazil, but I got many through of friends who traveled and even when I traveled. I have never heard anyone like Emmylou in all these years, he is the greatest voice in music of all times. Impressive! Long live Emmylou !!!
So very deserved . I just loved Minnie Pearl , appreciate the homage . Don't stop now , Emmylou .
Love Emmylou ❤️
Was fortunate to see her in concert back in the eighties.
Her voice is unique, hard to describe, emmy my favorite
A beautiful woman been a fan since hearing the lyrics quarter moon in a ten cent town from a native love you emmylou
Emmy Lou Harris is one of the greatest country music 🎶 artist ever. To me she is THE GREATEST . How I would love to meet this singing lady angel.
Her layered silver hair is her best look over any previous looks.
My first album of hers was luxury liner. The first time i heard Tulsa Queen , i was hooked for good. Voice like an angel.
That is exactly my experience, and my conviction. Well said.
Tulsa Queen is such a great song, written with Rodney Crowell (at his kitchen table, I heard him say, in a clip from the Royal Albert Hall performance celebrating 20 years of The Hot Band).
They don't come any better than Emmylou Harris !
I adore her
elle a fait une très bonne carrière et une très très bonne chanteuse de country merci emmylou pour toutes ses chanson formidable
Elle fait parti des toutes grandes étoiles de la country et je l'espère, pour de longues années encore.
Laurent Dieusart h
Translation; she made a very good career and a very good country singer thanks emmylou for all her wonderful songs
Translation; She is one of the great stars of the country and I hope for many more years.
thank you posting this one for this guy to enjoy
Should have been inducted 40 years earlier. Emmylou, was in a league of her own then, and has never rescinded the role, as the greatest female singer, ever.
My thoughts exactly , 40 years too late, but many greats were ignored with the emergence of garbage that they laughingly call "country music" that we see getting awards in the last few decades.
Now the angels are singing with our dear Emmylou good Lord...Even if I am argentine myself, everybody who loves Emmylou's music consider her a wonderful loved person. She will be forever in our hearts and Country Music.
A NATIONAL treasure!
she is so beautiful
Voz linda grande cantora Emmylou Harris nossa estrela Country Music
An angel.Saw her in Atlanta getting ready to have a baby in a few weeks.A true angels voice that night.

We love you!!!!!!!
Met her in the late 70's when a girl friend sang back ups for her. That voice and woman had me twitterpated ever since!
Wish Linda and Dolly were there 😢😢
Emmylou is amazing. What a talent, what a musician. Interestingly, I loved her voice best when it complimented other musicians like Parsons, Dylan, Parton or Ronstadt.
I love you Emmylou
Pancho and Lefty should be enough to put EmmyLou Harris in any hall of fame!!
Soy de Argentina, I Love emmylou
Anne Murray deserves to be in years ago
Una grande artista una leggenda della musica americana, Hemmylou , quanto ti manca Gram ?
Emmy is my girl. She just doesn't know it :)
Ela é linda!
She's stunning.
❤
I am happy to see that Charlie Louvin presented the award. . None better as she sang many of his songs. However, where was Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen or Rodney? something just not right IMO.mosrite60
Yeah, Vince Gill had no idea the words of the song he was singing.
My Lady just stunning
At least Acuff wasnt able to screw this up for her...
Is Gram Parson in ?? If not, HE should be !!!
No
They're still holding his long hair against him.
Makes you wonder? Probably the hair reason or because of not considered straight country. Gram should be in all music HOF
If I had to guess, it had nothing to do with Gram's long hair as to why he wasn't posthumously inducted. What it had and has to do with is the inability of some people to see past a person's addictions to the human inside the shell.
@@melodyscamman244 I think you've got it. And so sad it is too.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Emmylou well deserves this award, I love her and own her whole catalog. BUT WTF? Gram Parsons is still the reason she learned to love true country music and without him may have never found her place. She was just a single mother & struggling waitress singing Buffy St Marie songs before Gram taught her what it was all about. I am so surprised she didn't mention that when she accepted this award? CMHOF needs to give Gram the award he deserves. It's only about 40 years over due.
+howlinwolf73 I think writing and recording songs that immortalized Gram Parson if it was only Boulder to Birmingham it would have been enough did you see the look on her face when it was sung but also Tulsa Queen , her 2nd Album Luxury Liner named after a song Gram wrote and recorded the point is Emmylou Harris has done more to keep Gram Parsons name alive then anyone without her he might have ended up a footnote in the music History books it wasn't until the last 15 years or so that people realized and started re-discovering him and realized his Sig. or at least people outside of the music industry, But they already mentioned Gram was her major influence and the reason why she shifted her music he was the whole opening Statement they even had their Duet "Love Hurts" performed I'd say Gram got his due it would have been stupid of her to repeat something that was already said this wasn't Grams night it was Emmylou's hopefully Gram will get his just dues some day if his Nudie suit and Guitar are in the CMHOF why not him? . She mentions him in almost every interview she gives when asked how she got her start but she wasn't exactly an unknown at the time I doubt Gram would have heard of her had she have been.
Let's not forget The Ballad Of Sally Rose Y'all.
WTF MEANS WHAT THE FUCK. FOUL MOUT SHIT .
Yes,she was given an opportunity and ran far and wide with it ,beautiful woman
👍👏🐺
I think Lucinda nailed it
We deserved long overdue
Only Shania could compete with her beauty
I wouldn’t have accepted their offer to join their hall, Gram should have been in the hall. I know Emmylou loved Gra
Emmylou Harris, when are you going to help to Linda Ronstadt to be there too?
What took so long
I thought “Bang the Drum Slowly” was a hundred or more years old.
You’re thinking of the old cowboy song, “Streets Of Laredo.”
She was at her best with Lowell George.... just my opinion.... little feet
Lucinda Williams seemed like she was intoxicated.
That’s normal for her. 😊
Lucinda Williams’ voice was completely wrong for Boulder to Birmingham.
lucinda williams sound alful
YIKES! Lucinda Williams was a poor choice, don't ya think???
Perfect choice.
Phenomenal Songwriter.
No, she's great.
She was a little flat., but... she was incredibly nervous, and Emmylou loved it. That's all that matters.
Lucinda Williams? Do you think she could at least have known the song? Amazingly minor league
ozarkelmo We saw Lucinda Williams in concert about 2001. She had words to her own songs on a music stand in front of her. Maybe she gets nervous and can't remember them.
Find the truth of things, rather than your own judgement.
The Country Music Hall of Fame is a joke.. they waited until Web Pierce died before he was inducted and no the great Jerry Lee Lewis is not in there. . .
that said I love Emmy Lou.
She was simply dynamic apart from Linda Ronstadt
Emmy Lou was born for the hall of fame. She gives Gram Parsons a whole lot of credit that in my opinion is only partially true, Emmy Lou had the musical talent, timing, discipline and experience that Parsons did not.
Actually it's hard for most artists to get a break, no matter how talented, and Emmy was still hoping folk would be her route to making a living in music even though folk wasn't making new stars after the Beatles showed up. Gram had already made the switch from folk and had WAY more experience in the biz than Emmy. He'd been in three professional bands, including the Byrds, and was more than his voice; he was a great musical mind. That's why he snapped her up; he knew how good she was. He also taught her country, including the talents of figures such as the Louvins and Buck Owens, and introduced her to people who later helped her get started, like Linda Ronstadt, his manager, music critics, and many other musicians. She attended the university of Gram, so to speak. 🤠 That's why she gives him so much credit.
@@margaretross9150 He taught an Alabama girl about country music!
@@xx1590 Yup.
