Keith Whitley's widow, singer Lorrie Morgan, said she was struggling for the right words to include during her acceptance of his Country Music Hall of Fame medallion. She knew one thing however.
"He would feel so undeserving," Morgan shares, reinforcing a notion suggested earlier that his self-doubt was part of what led him to drink. Whitley died at age 33 in 1989. His membership into the Country Music Hall of Fame is a reminder of his long influence during such a short career.
"That was the wonderful thing about Keith," Morgan continues. "He was so one of us. He loved all these Hall of Fame members. He was such fans of everybody. The musicians - he loved the musicians, the songwriters."

Keith was Lorries true soul mate.
If he hadn't passed, they'd still be together. She did everything she could to try and save him from the terrible disease of alcoholism.
By her emotional speech it's obvious she has never gotten over his loss.
The pain is still there & it's heartbreaking.

Keith had a one of a kind voice. I would have loved to have heard what he would’ve saying in the last 30 something years if he had not have passed. I bet he would’ve gone on to be as big as Garth brooks. He was already a huge huge superstar by the time he died. Glad he’s in the Hall of Fame. Also, got a congratulate Jerry Lee! Jerry Lee is one of the finest of our time, since the day that he had the chance to begin his musical career!l😊

Wow!! Such made up garbage!!! Listen to his own mum talk about his alcoholism starting when he was drinking as a very young teenage musical prodigy touring away from home& overseas with much older adult men in bands & overexposed to things too young!!
He was using alcohol to cope very early and with death of a brother etc etc. . He said himself he grew up with everyone drinking & how he always had terrible stage fright and poor self esteem . For chrissakes get the actual facts. Misogynistic to blaming wives & women etc for a guy messing up!! Imagine living with a real alcoholic . That would never have been easy or stable or calm or restful!! . Trying to have a normal life and family with that destabilising any event or occasion & disappointments & disillusion when he relapsed ! .. it ‘d ruin the best marriages and families .
He had love support and means to address his addiction. He had to own it like every other addict. She or family couldn’t have saved him any more than they all tried !!
