Thank you so much! We're always our own worst critics and can be so hard on ourselves, constantly feeling like we're not doing enough and comparing ourselves to other people. It's nice to stop and reflect on our accomplishments and feel proud of ourselves, so thank you for that reminder :)
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to build a strong foundation of experience before leaping. Everybody is different. There are people who are still in the waiting line as we speak. It’s just your time. CONGRATULATIONS🎉❤

The front room with window has to be yours! 😍 Your face lit up talking about this new adventure and it was so lovely to see, I’m currently in the process of having an outhouse built for my own salon at home, whilst currently employed in the hair industry (uk based) your videos always relate to me in some way and mirror similar things I’m doing in my own life and seeing this has come at the perfect time again! 😂 When you were talking about fear, comparing to others and doing it for you, i didn’t realise how much I needed to hear that. So happy for you! Your face completely lit up when talking about being your own boss. I got discouraged with my career over the years and felt behind too but timing is everything and what’s meant for you will find you at the right point. And from a fellow introvert, you are gonna love having your own space and working for yourself. It’s a freedom like no other! Congrats and enjoy this next chapter!
Omg Sam! I am on the same boat! Similar cosmo experience! I am currently surviving my toxic co workers, working on my money/credit to take the plunge and become independent! My clients and partner are very supportive as I struggle with all the “what ifs” but that’s definitely my goal too! I’m sick and tired of the looks, the uniform, and the useless sales/product pushing that’s demanded of the company I’m at🥱 I’ve been casually watching you since you made the transition from student to cosmo and I admire you so much! I’ll have to say.. a stylists success has nothing to do with having their own space or own salon. So don’t ever compare yourself to others. I know many stylists who have been Commission for their whole hair career and have been very successful and make LOTS of money. Some people don’t like salon studios and prefer to work with other stylist for the day to day interaction and to grow their craft when working alongside other stylists. Even though your own studio gives you a lot more freedom it could also feel very isolating. The good thing about this industry are the different options how stylist can make a living. This industry isn’t one size fits all. I’m happy for you and hope it works out!

Girl you’re not alone, I’ve been doing hair for almost 11 years, and I stopped this past December because my anxiety and my mental health working at the great clips for only 2 years in AZ. Ruined my confidence and ruined the way I look at clients/hair.
I wanna get back to hair but I’m scared, and I see all these videos or see the girls I work with at a salon right now (I’m a client care coordinator) and I’m like “why can’t I be brave?”😞
I’m proud of you for taking this step towards what you want🤍🫶🏼 everything will work out the way it should be🤍🫶🏼

What you say is what I have with mothers. I'm 31 and my algorithm was also people, especially men, who say you're too old to become a mother. It made me so sad and still does.

I feel you on the fears! But you also have to think about like yes they did things faster, but how long are they gonna last? how good is their customer service? I have to agree with the idea that some people take longer bc they’re building to be greater! it’s much less common that people are amazing at everything straight out the gate yk - but anyway super exciting for you! wishing you so much light & success 🎉

Congrats Sam! Be proud of how far you’ve come. I recall when you discussed changing careers & going to cosmetology school but being nervous since you started much later than others. Regardless, you’ve come so far and gained the experience and have the passion to be successful. Proves that it’s never too late to get started or relearn/pivot and still do well in life. You can accomplish anything you put your mind to if you also work hard and stay consistent. 32 is still young and don’t compare yourself to others. Enjoy the moment and find joy in this milestone.
