I would have thought 5 times a second was pretty fast. Doubling that to 10 times, wow! I will give it a try and see if I notice a difference. Thanks for the tip!
No problem, yeah you would think the gps would be fast enough 5 x a second but u can def see more lag. Not sure why they wouldnt just make it 10 hz all the time
Quick question: So I tried to record Sonar data on my Helix 9 with a regular SD card, but when I tried to read the data in my laptop, apparently there was no GPS coordinates saved in the recording. How do I get GPS coordinates when it works just fine with AutoChart recording feature?
Love your tips. I’ve read that the Helix factory settings only updates the console head display if the boat moves 16ft. I’ve heard that it can be adjusted to be down to only 5 feet. I’ve scoured the settings but can not locate that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
Here's something regarding GPS. I noticed while heading towards a waypoint that my line from the front of the boat goes side to side. My brother told me he learned something from Lowrance is you need a GPS puck next to the unit. Is that the same for Humminbird?
The gps puck on a humminbird will help get better signal but will not help much with speed. The proper place for the humminbird puck is mounting it as close to the transducer as possible. Simply because when waypointing spots they will be spot on versus driving over a piece of structure on 2d hitting mark and ur unit is 10 foot away from the transducer that marked the structure
You might have to switch over to custom mode to get it to show up. If you hit the menu button twice. Scroll to the right past hb chart to setup. Go down to user mode switch it to custom then see if you have it
I've yet to have to turn it on unless I'm in my garage looking at autochart data on my GPS screen. I've turned it on while on the lake and didnt notice any speed increase but does help find satellites in covered areas
Not 100% sure, but I'm to believe they work side by side to add additional satalites to keep from losing positioning. Same as it does on your apple or android phones
I think what it really will help is when you're turning trying to line up with a waypoint so it's smoother and easier to get dead on without overshooting it.

Awesome tips. Great info. Thanks again man. Keep up the great content.
Thanks Steve, appreciate the great comment!
Dude you got so much great content! Thanks!
Thanks and your welcome!
So you don't need the external gps puck fot humminbird?

I dont have that option on my new Helix 10 G4n, and my GPS is off 2000 ft from where I actually am. How do I fix that? Please help

I dont believe this to be true. When I anchor lock with my trolling motor I can see my boat jogging around constantly on a 10ft spot.
That’s the min distance to start a track that you’re thinking of.
Can ya do that on the solix? When I am in the shed I can't pick up any signal..
Yes you should be able to change the internal gps speed on the solix as well

Well gaaaaahdamn..... Now how do i get the mapping to load up quicker? The contours load up so slow.
I can't find that GPS output on my Helix 15 in the settings to speed up my GPS is it called something else?

Thanks man I had it in custom but I scrolled on over to data sources and found it there great tip thanks man
Awesome man. Glad you got it figured out
Love your videos
Will this have any effect on battery ?
Yes it will use just a little more battery but not a significant change
What about the Glonass setting?
I've yet to have to turn it on unless I'm in my garage looking at autochart data on my GPS screen. I've turned it on while on the lake and didnt notice any speed increase but does help find satellites in covered areas
@@HumminbirdHelp So if you turn Glonass on does that turn GPS off and visa versa or are they both on at the same time?😀
Not 100% sure, but I'm to believe they work side by side to add additional satalites to keep from losing positioning. Same as it does on your apple or android phones
the GPS updates 5 times per second? thats not fast enough to track your position accurately? how fast are you guys going??
I think what it really will help is when you're turning trying to line up with a waypoint so it's smoother and easier to get dead on without overshooting it.
My lowrance is still better, I can't get my arrow/line/cursor to follow me (boat) when i'm moving at .5mph, but my lowrance tracks every move i make.
Who woulda thunk it!!
