Dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch all of the new movies on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my gf for the last few days xD
Excellent video, epic recording, perfect voiceover and of course pheidole are productive, they’re one of the most successful ant genus in every continent with a lot of species I think more than 1k
Good video man! Excellent editing and structure of the process. Very enjoyable to watch :) Would have liked maybe some more close-up shots of the ants themselves, but that species is so darn small...
I had a problem with mold. Airflow is key. Also springtails help. Also, a biological spray, with beneficial bacteria and enzymes helps a bunch, sprayed once a week. Using distilled water the rest of the time. Yep, i don't put honey or other foods on permanent environment, soaks in and grows mold.
What would happen if there were some vivarium cleanup insects like springtails and isopods in there with ants? I keep them to prevent mold and fungi but they don’t interact.
Hello, love this channel mate... did you really use only olive oil as barrier to escape? How is that possibile? I mean, in few hours where am I will be gone for sure. Good luck, give us news about colony!
I have a very small colony of Pheidole Dentigula. They are a challenge because they don't like most foods, only small flies, no sugary foods. Any suggestions? You have excellent skills! Thank you for this video, i will be using some of these ideas.
You don't worry about unwanted insects, etc that could potentially harm your colony getting in there from all the stuff you got from the wild? Looks great btw
Hey ants Scandinavia, just curious how do you use the potting soil? I’ve heard that fertilizers and other additives can cause problems with your colony. Do you wash, freeze, or cook the potting soil? Any kind of preparation or tips and tricks for natural ant set ups would be greatly appreciated.
I’m late but he probably bought non fertilized soil and collected the clay from nature so it wasn’t chemical filled or anything but if you are planning to make one I wouldn’t recommend taking soil from places just in case it has pesticides and stuff
Hur kan man förhindra att myrorna kryper ut från vivariumet? Hur länge håller olivolja och är det bättre än babypuder? Riktig grym kanal! Gillar alla dina videos 😀👍👌
Nice Vivarium Mate! So you added that new 'Glue' on top of the Aquarium Silicon layer? Have to make one of these too. My colonies sure would looove to be in soil. :)
@@AntsScandinavia I was wondering how useful your olive oil barrier is as I might consider using it over the baby powder one I usually use since it can look quite messy
Dude... Why didnt you just hook up a tube and make it more attractive for them to move? So they can move when they feel the need to move.. I think you gave the colony much stress which was not needed right?
I 100% agree. He could have just covered the tube in baby powder mixed with alcohol and put it in the aquarium so they could move in on their time but not climb the tube to escape.
Hi! I understand you concern, yes I could have done that. However, from my experiance, thease guys are just like Lasius Niger, they dont move if they are not forced too xd. Plus, it went well didnt it?
@@AntsScandinavia Yeah it went allright, but still lot of stress.. But if this is the only way then so it be! Are Lasius N that hard yeah?... Gosh... Still got 5 colonys I need to move...
I’m late but it’s far less stress to dump them or move them manually exposing them to harsh conditions for longer is way more stressful and pheidole will not move themselves so it was a good choice
Nice video and vivarium.! Please, do not try again move the colony like that, so dangerous process like you did. But I like so much the vivarium and your colony!
hey man. does oil work well as a barrier? i made a smaller version of this for my pheidole. the plastic sticks well without any leak even when i did not use a primer. i water tested it and there was no leak. Also would you give my channel a shout out? could really use some support.
Experience! I have both seen their nests in nature (and accidentally collapsed some of their top Chambers😶) and have kept them in a similar terrarium and (again) accidentally killed the queen while doing some maintenance by collapsing her chamber situated by a rock. Be careful! My colony ended not a month afterwards of the collapse😩. Also, I love the way you scaped the terrarium😄
i would make a small hole in the side of the new aquarium and take the queen out of the old nest and put it in the nu=ew vivarium dump everything in the hole in the new aquarium
why didn't you stop watering the sand in the outworld and put a test tube so the ants would move with the brood inside the test tube? later, you could have just poured the ants in the setup
That's terrible! My colony was invaded by Pharaoh ants. Luckily I stopped it before they killed the queen. Never thought I'd have to protect them from invaders!
Great video! Setup looks great. Love that reveal montage haha 🤣👌
Hey! Neat seeing you here. Love your videos man, waiting on the next one! Keep up the great work!
Looking forward to the next upload!
Plz make more video

@Ryder Julien Definitely, have been using instaflixxer for since november myself :D
Pheidole are an abundant but still an amazing genus. I can’t wait until mine get their majors .
Ye dude, they rock!
I love tetramorium caespitum and monomorium pharaonis just the way they swarm around
Pheidole are my favorite, though my experience is only with P. Dentigula.
I love how the Majors act much different than the Minors.
Pheidoles as a genus is abundant but many species are rare and endemic to only a certain region.
Major props for moving the entire colony with your mighty paintbrush ;) The vivarium will make a great home for them!
Hahaha, ye, sometimes you have to be dedicated haha. Thanks!
Chickalo why is it you again!
I like to imagine at 6:00 you got so excited about finishing the build that it was all filmed in real time
Amazing that they were able to adapt and pick up their baby sisters as you delivered them over. Such adaptable creatures
Good mic, chill voice and chill tunes.
All around great presentation and build
Thanks bro! Means a ton! :)
I agree 👍🏼🐜
this guy is soooo patient. I love your set up by the way! simple and good to look at!
spinning the Vivarium round and round with disco music made the video funny, something different! great work!
Heck ye! Thanks :D

Damn thats a ton of sp.! Ye they fascinate me a ton, how such a tiny ant can do soooo much!
Love the video buddy! Its so cool having the feeling you are in there with the ants!
:D Thanks!
First video and first time stumbling to your channel, I find this a great channel and can tell you love filming / editing 👍
Thank you, I am happy you like it :) And yes, I do :P
Top tip, attaché the colony and allow the old set up to dry out! In most cases they should normally move over quite quickly! Nice video btw! X
This is good advice. As the old living space dries, is less hospitable, they will move... more gentle..
Pheidoles are the cutest ants especially the majors with big heads. Even without stinger and acid spray, they are ferocious and strong fighters.
Good video man! Excellent editing and structure of the process. Very enjoyable to watch :)
Would have liked maybe some more close-up shots of the ants themselves, but that species is so darn small...
Thanks for the critique! Yes, looking back, that could have been an improovement! Thanks!
Please please please make more videos and videos more often and updates on vivariums and such
Isnt the stick and the moisty environment for the moss, super good for mold?
You also put honey in the stick
I had a problem with mold. Airflow is key. Also springtails help.

Yep, i don't put honey or other foods on permanent environment, soaks in and grows mold.
can u maybe do a ant room tour soon? it was some time since the last one and i would love to see how it is going with all of them!

great video ,, i have a colony of pheidole noda im looking to make a naturalistic set up when the colony rows more
what is a good size of aquarium or keeping a colony in or a while ?
You don't worry about unwanted insects, etc that could potentially harm your colony getting in there from all the stuff you got from the wild? Looks great btw
Not really, what insects could that be? Mites? Ye sure, but how else will I get a setup looking that good ;)
while the queen is alone or only with eggs in the tube does she need to be fed?
Hey. Where did you get the Soil - just out of the forest?
YAY another video it’s been to long!

Can you write the tweezers buying link.
what should i do if my first gen of workers died should i start freeding my queen ant protien or should i leave them
Yes, absolutely. Feed her honey and tiny protein, like legs. Then she should be ok :)
Yooooooooooooo nice vid
Thaaaaaaaaaaaank you! :D
Are manny of these ants rare??? Just wondering becouse i never see any of these ants up here in Norway (a Nation in Scandinavia)
Christian Henriksen you can’t find all ant’s in your yard 😂😂 it can change frome state to state 😅

why did you place the black cloth?
so you use oil as a barrier?

@Therese Linderborg Det står på deras hemsida
Ett bra tag xd
What does #1987 mean?
are you crazy to take a queen with a brush or hair remover
I dont think I under stand the question...
There’s a problem with compacting the soil plants don’t grow as well
"Brushing" those ants for 3 hours was... decisive. But how about ripping of wings from fruitflies? How long it takes to feed your colony? :)))
some species of fruit flies are wingless ;)
