    I know I'm late in the game as this came out over a year ago but awhile back I was in the same dilemma of choosing between these two. I noticed that both my gunsmith and his wife have Kahrs as their EDC. So when I asked they came back with an angle I had not considered. They suggested the CW9 because "if you're ever involved in a shooting incident of any kind are you comfortable with having your expensive firearm confiscated by police for an lengthy period of time?" Love my CW.

      I have purchased 3 of Kahrs pistols in the past year, P380, PM9 , P45. I have NOT had any issues with the guns. Fiocchi ammo does not feed well in the 380. Other than that it has ate every thing its been fed. I also had the dealer bring that very issue up to me too.

    I EDC my MK9 for 7 years now and train with it pretty often. Go for the extra dough and get an MK series. A bit heavy being all stainless however the added weight really has control of the recoil and they just look badass and feel solid.

    I have a K40 for edc, and I'm considering getting the CW9 for edc, as well. The K40 is all metal, and I put C/T grips on it. Admittedly, I see it as something of a boutique gun, but it's an awful nice gun, and suitable for home defense use. My other edc is a revolver, but I'm thinking about adding the CW9 to the gang because it makes sense for me to carry a mechanical platform I'm already familiar with. Maybe I'll carry the K40 when I wear a snooty dinner jacket, and I'll carry a CW9 when I'm going to Safeway, and I'll jam the 642 into my pocket when I go to the thrift store.

    Well done video! I dont think the fancier barrel for greater accuracy is that much of a big deal here, since most self defense shootings are 10 feet or closer. But the night sights and extra mags really condone the extra cost, IMO.

      Yeah I agree I bought the cw9 and 3 extra mags and can order a match barrel for it if I wanted and it would still be cheeper than buying the 700 dollar package but I liked the look of the cw9 and compare it to the Glock 48 as far as slim it is

    I own both the CW9 and CW380 Tungsten I love both. The 9 is flawless the 380 I had 1 issue with some cheap crappy ammo from Walmart otherwise no problems. There is something to the recommended break in, the pistols will loosen up a little, I think the springs need to be exercised along with Kahrs tight machining. Good video.

      Fiocchi was doing the same in mine. Fiocchi makes Perfecta. The lip on the bottom of the brass is thicker and causes the problem The lip has a hard time getting behind the extractor. There is a mod on You-tube, Kahr extractor mod 380, that I performed on mine, and now it runs everything. Check out the guys video. Some don't want to do any mods to there gun, but I want mine to work. If you screw up the extractor, it can be bought from Kahr for $16.

    Karh sometimes has hidden deals that they dont really advertise. I bought a CW9 model 9093HM
    It’s a CW9 that comes with 2 magazines instead of 1, plus a nice little holster. Same price or in my case, slightly lower than CW9093.
    Also picked up a CT380 Tungsten. Came with 2 mag instead of 1, Tungsten cerakote slide, slide lock/release, and a hard csae instead of cardboard. Same price as standard CT 380.
    Both guns are fantastic.

    I disagree on getting a pistol with just one magazine. Magazines are not pistol accessories and I hate when they are advertised as such. If your single magazine gets lost or damaged your pistol quickly becomes an expensive mallet. You should have at least 2 mags so you can practice reloads under pressure because it's much faster to insert a loaded mag rather than trying to reload an empty magazine under duress.

    Hey gb I'm a cw9 owner and very much so enjoyed watching your video. When I bought my cw9 about 12-18 months ago I didn't know to much about kahr and any of their products. Of course being a new kahr owner I wanted to know as much as possible about the brand and different models. I thing I have not been able to figure out is if the pm9 upper (slide and barrel) and the cw9 lower (polymer handle and trigger mechanism) are interchangeable in the sense that if I wanted to go out and buy a pm9 barrel with the polygonal rifling or the slide and put it on my cw9, would it work.

      I have the Kahr ct380. You have to run 200 rounds to break in your cw380 or any kahr for that matter. After that if you still have issues you should check out the kahr forum. They have lots of info for getting your kahr up and running! The kahr 380's are very ammo sensitive. Mine wouldn't feed Geco at all. I found some info on fixing the extractor on the forum and it has been functioning fine now, If you use cheap dirty ammo in it you may have reliability issues after a hundred rounds or so, but after clean up it should be fine again. Keep the striker channel clean and oil free also.

    PM9, rather than P9, should have been used for comparison. Dimensionally they are different. The PM is more compact and the better seller. The polygonal rifling in the barrel is match grade. It helps propel the bullet at higher muzzle speed. The CW has MIM parts while the PM has forged parts. The slide exterior on the PM series is machined, milled, and and contoured while the CW has rough sharp cuts. Two extra magazines are $65-$70.

    • @GlenBraeDude
      @GlenBraeDude 4 года назад +1

      The better night sights on the PM add to the price too. If you're going to go with the CW9/CM9 with the intention of upgrading it why bother? Get the PM9 and be done with it. Have had nothing but good results with my PM9, no regrets but then I don't run crap ammo through it either. And with an Alabama Holster for inside the pocket it IS a great carry too. I notice a lot of owners regardless of the brand or model of gun they're dissing never mention they're likely running crap ammo, expecting it to perform like the good stuff.

      I agree that the metal frame Kahr's are the only ones worth considering. I'd suggest a K9 Elite. This is different from the standard K9 in that it includes a customized smooth trigger, a specially polished feed ramp for extra reliability and a polished stainless finish as apposed to the standard brushed stainless finish on the regular K9 (the standard K9 has a heavier trigger pull as well).
