I don’t think not wanting an open relationship has anything to do with being insecure. There is absolutely nothing wrong about wanting your partner to only engage romantically with you. Completely normal and it all depends on each couples wants/needs, values and boundaries!
It may be totally okay and comfortable for one couple and be in line with their values and what they want and it could be completely out of the question for others. Personal preference, not insecurity 🤗

When I was 22, my boyfriend was 29. Doesn’t seem completely weird to most people, but now that I’m 31, I realize 22-year-olds are in such a different place mentally, emotionally, and life-experience wise and I could never date someone that young. I realized after we broke up just how much he was able to manipulate me into thinking toxic things he did were normal because he’d throw having more life experience at me and I didn’t know any better and trusted him. I think up until the age of 25 or so, there can be such a power imbalance with age gap relationships even when one is of legal age/an adult. Late teens-early 20s can be such a delicate age.

Don't split 50/50 when there is a large income difference. Do a %. At one point in my marriage I made double if not triple my husband's income.
We each gave the same % to cover joint living expenses. So I'd give 25% and he would too. Yes, my 25% was a lot more 💰 but it was equal in contribution.
We also have separate bank accounts, always have and always will.
I've been married 15yrs, before I got married I read a quote that said "you can love someone and not love the life with them" that resonated with me. That I loved him and my life with him. That we could continue to build a life together. I came from divorced parents and grandparents so I had no real desire or dream to be married.

Looking at love now that I’m in my 30’s is a very different feeling than in my 20’s. I have a much deeper appreciation for the ebb and flow in a relationship now and someone who can embrace that with me. I feel like early on, it is important to establish consistency with "potential love interests". Call me old fashion, but I like the bubbly feeling in the early stages when you are in tune with getting to know someone and the feelings are mutual. If I talk to a potential interest one day and barely hear from them the next day or days later, I move on and find the right person who matches my energy. I am dating at the moment, and an issue I am finding is consistency and connection. It really takes time to find the right person, so I believe it will happen! Keep the faith!

Things I've learned:
One can love from a distance and not be together if it's not healthy or meant to be. Heal from it.
Not to pay on the first date (I've been played or not taken seriously).
A prenup should be mutual. So if you want to give one to a man, be prepared if you're offered one.
Having yourself and confidence in what you have to offer, you will never feel less abundance. And when the right person comes it will just add to it.

I just want to say that I really did enjoy this Q&A video because it was something really new and creative at the same. While also Nikki you are a wonderful person who has a heart of gold too and I know that you will have a spectacular year because you are a spectacular person who doesn’t settle for anything less.
I’m married to my best friend, together 10 years. We have seperate back accounts and each contribute for expenses equally.
I like and love him and couldn’t imagine having a relationship with someone who was not my best friend.
I think when it comes to first dates each paying towards the bill would be what I would do as I wouldn’t want to feel like I owed someone.
I’ve found the comment section interesting as everyone has their own life experience and individual preferences around dating and relationships.
One thing I will say is that you never want to force a relationship or force someone to be with you. I think being accepting that one day the relationship could end if you want different things is healthy. There’s no absolutes in this world so ideally it would be great to remain together as we age.

Loved this video!! For the step parent question: I called my step dad by his name for a really long time. Pretty much until my baby sister was born and could understand what was being said. (I'm 15 years older than her). Now I just call him dad. He is my dad for all intents and purposes. Even though him my mom are no longer married he's been my dad since I was 9 and I'm about to turn 30. But every situation is different and I don't know my bio-father, last time I saw him I was 4.
On the question of if rent should be 50/50 - the best decision my (now) husband and I ever made is to agree to pay for everything proportionally. Makes it fairest for the person not making quite as much as the other and takes the pressure off. I’ve tried both the 50/50 and the proportional split based on what each of us brings home. Proportional is the best way hands down

A fair way for a couple to divide living expenses is to use a formula. Add both incomes. Each partner divide their income by total. This gives percentage each should pay.

Love this! My take on who pays for the first date since I see some criticism in the comments: if it’s a first date, you’re BOTH taking a chance on the other and investing time to figure out if you’re a match. There is always a risk one will have stronger feelings than the other or that you both don’t feel it at all. For that reason, I personally like paying for myself on a first date and having the other pay for themselves. Or if there are two parts to the date like dinner and a movie, one pays for the one and one pays for the other. Who pays can be an agreed upon thing once a relationship is established based on what each person is comfortable with, but with a first date being such a shot in the dark for both parties, I think it’s fair for each to pay their own way and focus on just getting to know each other without the extra pressure.
