While all-terrain tires have a better tread pattern for snow, I recommend winter tires because the compound is more flexible in lower temperatures. My experience driving through many winters in Canada is that all-season tires do very poorly compared to winters, and that a 2wd vehicle with winter tires can out-brake an AWD with all-season tires, but both start out just as well.
added a eu2200 honda generator to my winter setup, essential piece when there is no sun and you gotta keep moving. lessens the stress of checking the batteries so much which is super annoying, if its getting low, ill throw it on for a couple hours to top off the batteries, might be good to consider to keep the victron system pushing! thanks for the video!!
nice ski trip. I am taking notes from the more experienced travelers as I plan to do something similar next winter to get full use of an Epic ski pass.
this adventure is the exact thing I love doing with my van. I overnight at Carson Pass area and Kirkwood is my favorite resort. Have yet to be snowed in at Kirkwood but I am ready. I made a video about my Kirkwood winter van camping adventure as well.
how much battery did you have left when the sun finally came out and what mountain was that? realize it was a storm but they allow vans to park overnight ?

Great video! If you adjust your shutter speed you wont get the wavy flikering from the LED lights in the Van :)
so the star link and booster worked in the snowstorm im impressed

could have hiked the mountain and skiied down ---- get snowshoes
Were you stuck at Kirkwood?
Indeed- the roads were closed so we had to stay put. The folks at Kirkwood were great and checked in with us firing the storm.
Is your van 4wd or 2wd?
4WD with rear positraction upgrade (limited slip rear differential).
